I'm tired of having to fight shit hundred times when I'm going back and forth somewhere. I'm not some kid with ADHD who needs to have something to kill, I want to be able to clear the map of monsters.

Played Gothics already. I know they respawn in these but it's only after you finish a chapter, and it's not 1:1 respawn, they change monsters.

I don't really mind random enemies respawning. But its the bosses that just shit out enemies until it dies that I can't stand. The 'difficulty' relies entirely on how well you can deal with the mob spamming.

Valkyrie Profile 1.

They only respawn if you enter the same dungeon again.

Baldur's Gate

Icewind Dale

Planescape Torment

They never respawn in these games, except for one zone in BG.

Heroes of Might and Magic games too, but they're strategy RPGs.

There is a setting to toggle spawning on and off. I believe on default survival it is off as well.

Any spawning that occurs takes place during the beginning of the game zombies will spawn and populate the map until the set "peak" is reached, which is 3 in game days on default settings. You can change the time when this peak is reached also.

Additionally they do have a mechanic of moving zombies from full cells to empty cells especially if there is noisy activity in the empty cell. But if you clean out an area enough it will deplete the cells around it until there are no zombies that can move to the area under normal circumstances. Leaving an empty zone that is slowly taken over by nature.

Last time I played they were working on beefing up the meta-game director which would make roving hordes of zombies from distant cells and move them around the map, but I don't know if that has been implemented or how it works.

>if you can actually gradually clear them out that sounds really nice

Its very nice, and the only zombie-survival game that I enjoy since there are no endless hordes or "special" zombies.

Took me about 2 1/2 in game years to clean out the whole map, but that was on default settings and when there were only 2 towns. About when they introduced foraging and seasons. There were about 18,000 zombies total.

Once you clear out a room, you're pretty much done there. 1 or 2 monsters might come back if you constantly backtrack to previous rooms/floors, but they are limited in number and it's possible to clear out the entire tower of monsters for good if you've got the patience.

The sequel on the PS2 is a similar deal, you can 100% clear an area if you've got the patience. But unlike the first, you can't backtrack to a previous area.

Slow, steady extermination.

Clear out an area using melee attacks, set up base and do a patrol around the perimeter killing any stragglers each morning. Once it it relatively clean start sprinting and shouting during the patrol to attract more zombies into the safe area. Kill those too.

Use the rest of the day to farm, rest, build up skills and a stash of stone axes. Once you have a bunch, make excursions into new areas focusing on only cleaning out packs of zombies. Don't take on more than 3 or 4 since it becomes hard to track which ones are dead and which ones are playing dead. Once the excursion area is clean, set up a forward base, and repeat the process from there.

>A single scratch could mean death so don't rush it.

>Don't play if you are only paying half attention. >Don't loot during the night

>Don't travel to new areas during the night

>Don't hug the wall when checking corners

>check around the entire building before entering

>Shout before entering a room with no windows.

>start unemployed with strong, athletic, and cat eyes

>Balance with slow healing, slow learning, and slow reading

I only used guns once for fun in the mall parking lot. Gave it up when I noticed the large amount of crippled zombies it leaves behind. Too risky.
