In case you've been living under a rock, Canada Cup was an awful event run by a crypto-currency addicted chink and partnered with a convention advertising Fortnite stations on the front door.

Naturally, I was there and saw most of it firsthand. I can talk about it if any of you are interested, or round up salient points from social media.

I would like to discuss some old mechanics to know what people more savvy on the FGs think about it.

>Spirit meter for special moves acting as a soft-cooldown to avoid special move spam.

>Limited ways to actively regain meter, costs determined by the special move.

>What could possibly go wrong?

Eh, low quality example earlier, this one is slightly better.

050195 (4)  No.15678125>>15681849

Another "mechanic" I would like to consider is, if the game may have super arts or desperation moves would be having no "special" wind-up or starting up frames, nothing flashy to telegraph them other than the starting-up animation but having a longer recovery animation to prevent stuff like KoF96 desperation spam.

Never. the best you'll get is VF games being ported to the switch via the AGES program. Sega didn't even acknowledge the series 25th anniversary, a new game isn't happening.

>>15677391

Do you mean FEXL? If so, it's pretty great. The gougi decks really change up how you play each character, Arika has been listening to the community really well when it comes to content and balance, the online is still really active for a niche fighter (unless things has changed in the 1.3 weeks it's been since I've stopped paying for PS+) and it looks like Terry is gonna get added soon. PC version should be out a short while after the next big update and the arcade release.

My only real gripes with the game are; no cpu vs. outside of training mode and arcade mode, arcade mode doesn't have mini games like SFEX had and Survival mode is in training mode (but it's kinda forgivable since you can switch decks and characters without having to wait around like you would if it was it's own separate thing)

Of course. But the real question is are you fine with getting your ass kicked? Even games like KoF98 still have people playing online. Same with niche anime games like Nitroplus Blasters. Let's say for example, Hadokens would use 30% of your meter, Shoryuken 40%, etc., also, no long windups for super arts would mean you need to learn the proper timing to put them on combos or a reversal but would be punishable if you spam them, not to mention they would consume 70% or 100% depending on the move.

It was kind of impressive how much CC2018 got wrong.

>advertises a 24hr venue at the Mariott a short walk away

<venue isn't 24hr until day 2 because oops we forgot to clear it with the hotel

<<players make their own venue in a fucking hallway until the hotel says they can use the ballroom

>the event is partnered with EGLX, which means it gets a corner of the convention room to host 20 tournaments for 1300 people

>can't even see it from the main door due to a haze of AXE body spray, fog machines, ugly booth babes, and autistic children in Fortnite cosplay playing ASSFAGGOTS and VR demos in Vertagears

>there are three main stages: one for League of Legends/Overwatch/CS:GO, one for FIFA and NFL games, and one which CC needs to split in two to accommodate the Capcom Pro Tour and whatever other garbage is being played

>EGLX stopped at 6:45 both days, which meant the venue stopped giving CC power in the evenings of both days

>>this meant SFV didn't have a main screen partway through top 64 or something, until the fire marshall realized everyone was just crowding the stage

>SFV top 8 was broadcast by audience smartphones because the broadcast equipment fucking lost power on Sunday evening

>EGLX hit capacity on day 2, which meant the fire marshalls were preventing people from attending their pools

>>the pool captains were told not to DQ people for being late, and some players were floated to the next block of pools

>>>this information was conveyed to the pool captains by a Yun cosplayer who told them to "spread the word"

The stream was a joke even when it was running. Either the smash.gg page or the website (not both) advertised five separate Twitch channels for everything, but the only things streamed through the main page were the Capcom Pro Tour, some USFIV brackets, and hours of BBTAG. Tekken got less than a handful of pools matches before top 8 (even though this was the last TWT event of the year), and GG was lucky to get top 8 at all. The tournament of legends for ST was only streamed because ST players are nutcases who bring CRTs and candy cabs everywhere with them, so streaming equipment is practically nothing to them.

Smash faggots got two dedicated streams for both of their shitty games, of course. Once you finished wading through booth niggers and soy, you were greeted with the tournament area itself, which was maybe 70 feet long and 50 feet wide. Pic 4 shows the entirety of the CC venue within EGLX, not counting the stage. Consider:

>this space was meant to house 1300 people over the course of 3 days, many of whom registered for multiple games

>pool captains were volunteers who ran pools using PAPER BRACKETS ON CLIPBOARDS

>>those same pool captains had to shout above the noise of an entire convention and LoL commentators on loudspeakers to get people for pools

>fully half the space is CRTs with MUH MELEE, most of which sat unused for the weekend, and a smaller bank of Tr4sh stations

>the rest is split between every game in pic 2, which resulted in the joke that is pic 3

Let's take a closer look at pic 4, because I was standing in it for two days:

>the first row was exclusively SFV and DBFZ on both sides

>the second row was almost exclusively BBTAG, UNIST, and GG on both sides

>all the rows except for the CRT pit were crammed with people at all times, to the point that a small crowd watching a pools match in GG completely stopped traffic in one aisle

>pools chronically lacked stations and ran slowly, including one DBFZ pool which began at 9:00 a.m. and finished at 1:00 p.m.

>some players were told to choose which game they wanted to be DQ'd from because both brackets were running at the same time and some pool captains didn't feel like accommodating them

>one DBFZ pool had exactly two stations, one of which died as soon as the pool started - they did not receive a replacement

<anecdote: one DBFZ pools match I was standing next to lasted upwards of 12 minutes due to a player mounting a 1v3 comeback against his opponent

>the Sailor Moon stations were nicer and had more space than the SFV stations

At least I got to see XiaoHai beat people in KoF using one hand, and a Canadian player beat Dogura with a steering wheel in GG top 8.

Sounds like you have more of a problem with the business model of the game rather than the game itself and the systems on display, which is fine mind you. It's a bit miffing that the season 1 versions of the characters will be unable to be played as well; maybe an edition select like in USFIV might be a thing later down the line, but I doubt that.

In terms of the systems on display it's certainly the best to play since Tekken 5: DR. Tekken 6 and TTT2 are both shit for their own reasons, but I'll still abhor Rage until the day I die; why there's a mechanic that actively rewards you for getting hit, I dunno, but there's also no mechanic (unless you're playing one of the characters with meter management or Claudio) to reward good play. The only reward for good play is to keep doing well.

Okay, so they might be doing something after all with Virtua Fighter, but it could just easily turn out to be nothing of value. It'd be funny if they're starting work on a new entry in the last 2 months of its 25th anniversary. Reminds me that neither Mania nor Forces came out for Sonic's 25th and for good reason. Only a delayed, decent, but forgettable sequel to their Boom sub-division of games came out on that year for their flagship mascot.

Also, characters have been rebalanced (Jin isn't broken as fuck anymore) and fixed glitches

The HD graphics on the PS3 are a plus as well, makes it look more of a 7th gen game

Zasalamel - They either made a Dio or Thanos create a character, or they love the controlling and pulls he has.

Azwel - Either a Gilgamesh fan and loved his ult, or someone who saw the stances he had and wants to learn them and ends up giving free wins to people ranking up. They most likely spam Axe mode only and spam B K to get anywhere.

Maxi - Someone who likes to have fun.

Terrible idea; online is meaningless even in "big" games like Tekken and SF. Anime games are almost exclusively played through player lobbies due to lower populations. Which character do you play and what happens when you play?

I play baiken

>what happens when you play?

If it's a matchup i'm unfamiliar with then I immediately lose neutral and start respecting too much, don't know when to strike and I throw out counters and get a wrong read and they fuck me up with a combo.

I played against a jack-O today and she completely fucked me up with all those minions and shit.

Basically any matchup that isn't Sol, Ky, Jam, Axl, Chipp, Slayer, May, Faust, Mirror (fucking hate mirrors tbh) I get destroyed in.

Don't get me wrong, I still struggle against the listed characters but at least I feel like I'm learning when I play against them.

Johnny depends on the player, sometimes they're too good and I feel lost.

Zato, I-No, Ramlethal, Leo, Bedman, Raven, Jack-O, Elphelt fuck me up, bad.

I also drop my kire tatamis VERY often, I practice them before playing every time though.

And my pressure/blockstrings are terrible, feels underwhelming, don't know if its because I'm shit or if baiken isn't too good in that area.

Neutral is abysmal too, usually just run up and FD brake or 2K/5S to poke, Kire tatami (if i succeed) or IAD tatami and I throw out the hooks if the enemy isn't close, projectile if they're on the other side of the screen.

I can't anti air either, hook is too slow and 6P isn't good enough and doesn't reach them.

I feel like the key to doing great in the game is mostly sidestepping, and knowing when to punish. You can know the frame data, and all the combos but someone with better mechanics will always have the advantage. But I'm sure you have good mechanics since you're at 3200, maybe you just need to refine them. What is the average rank though? Its hard to tell this early, but I cant tell what the average number for a player would be. 2k? 2500? 1500? Who are you playing anyway.

Rank and RP are separate. RP just sort of shows that you've won a bunch of matches in total and haven't lost often enough to start losing RP, but the actual rank is a better measure of your win/loss ratio (I think). I'm at rank F4 with both Kilik and Nightmare, wouldn't surprise me if I'm about to down rank with either one soon if I don't start winning more often again.

I sidestep a ton and still get hit by verticals, it pisses me off. It seems that it's mainly sidestepping to the left and especially while at close range that you still get it, sidestepping right seems safer but I'm just not in the habit of doing it.

Sort of, Tira can SC at half the meter cost in Gloomy instead of the full 1 bar. This is not intentional at all and is probably a result of Gloomys lowered meter gain having weird interactions.

Tira has some other weird stuff about her that doesn't seem intentional like some of her personality change properties.

The buggiest characters so far seem to be Talim and Voldo however. Talim has her AAa+b counter combos, her 4B,(A) having different properties on full charge and half charge (may be intentional), her BT B+K A+B is a break attack but nothing seems to work correctly with this move due to the multi-hit nature of it. That last one, for instance, means that Talim can't use that move to counter RE even though it's supposed to be a BA.

Baiken has solid ground normals in 5H, 2S, and f.S. If you don't want to play on the ground, just jump back/neutral and tatami.

>Jack-O'

That's a super annoying matchup for her, actually, since the goons let you do red Azami basically whenever you want.

>pressure/blockstrings

You're ending them in the hook, right? It's +1 on block and works as a pseudo reset since it drags the opponent closer. Aside from that, 6K is +2 (I think; you should know the frame data) so that's another opportunity to apply a mixup or reset pressure.

>Neutral

The hooks shouldn't be used for anything other than a hard read, and the gun is only useful if you know your opponent can't just jump it on reaction.

>6P isn't good enough

Completely false. You just need to time it precisely since Baiken is so short.

It's crazy how much hair and [Breast Expansion] can change a character design. I think the combination of cat ear hair, long hair, and huge tits was too much - any two and she'd have looked definitively better.

Overall, though, the Revelator and Rev2 character designs were executed well; I think ArcSys saw people's general reaction to all the donut steel animu bullshit in Sign and toned it down. Jack-O', Raven, and Kum all look like they could fit in the XX series with a few details shaved off, but Elphelt and Ramlethal would never survive the transition to 90s aesthetics.

Johnny, Jam, Dizzy, and (less so) Baiken all made the visual transition to Xrd very nicely. They're more cartoony and exaggerated compared to the realism in the AC key art, but the soul of the designs is distinctly 90s and overall less cluttered.

Xrd baiken definitely feels over designed to me, i was expecting the eyepatch for sure but the rest just seems so overboard when you see Jam and Johnny kept their old costumes mostly the same without any losses in the new visual style. losing some of the "meanness" that she had in body language kinda bummed me out to

>losing some of the "meanness" that she had in body language kinda bummed me out to

I noticed a while ago that Xrd barely has any villains on the roster due to retcons and redesigns. The assassins are noble, Raven is misunderstood, and Ky's extended family collectively got the crazy dicked out of them; the only actual bad guy on the character select screen is Bedman, and he's dead. It doesn't bother me now, but it's kind of annoying since GG's older roster was a rogues' gallery of murderers, genocidal maniacs, and knights templar who fought dirty.

Hopefully Xrth has some more playable antagonists, and hopefully they're more compelling than Ariels.

Pic unrelated; I just think it's super cool how Answer has professional textures on his business cards.

as long as people play, it doesnt matter how popular it is I feel. But it is nice when a fighter is popular enough to make developers justify the constant update cycle. And this game has reeled in more people than the previous one I think. I bet it would be even bigger if Bamco didnt force them to make characters and customization locked behind DLC, so I've heard at least. THe $60 price meme needs to stop too, these developers dont realize that if they make games like this $30 they could theoretically make twice as much and have a much larger player base. OW did this and I feel thats how they sold alot, same with PUBG, and even CSGO which I think is the best example. It sucks that the best examples of this are these dumpster fires In fact alot of the very popular games have been less that $40 since more people can justify the price than fucking $60. It seems like normalfags are starting to realize this too.

So are they releasing this on GoG as well? Or the executable file works without running Steam on the background? Or this is just a fancy way of saying that they can't afford Denuvo, so fuck it?

By the way, Omen of Sorrow was released this tuesday and went completely unnoticed here? This is kind of worring but it's another indie game released exclusively on the PS4 like FEXL and so far Million Arthur: Arcana Blood.

Quite funny this game might have better online experience than SCVI if they implemmented GGPO right.

>>15702019

PUBG is a U$60.00 game and they got quite fucked by Fortnite being f2p but I guess the mobile port worked fine for them. Still, doesn't excuse Bamco DLC practices. So far, the only ones I think they did right recently were KOFXIV and FEXL that I'm aware of. Well, BBCF releasing Jubei more than a year later was fine as having Es as temporary free DLC but I don't remember when Mai was released, only that I bought it in a sale after Jubei.

>THe $60 price meme needs to stop too,

Thing is it's not a regular practice in other countries like South American ones where they use conversion rates and taxes that inflates the prices so you don't see many console players on those countries and can see Steam prices always pretty lower than the regular ones in the USA.

I agree, virtual points are irrelevant. They were at the arcades since it was local proof of those who were the best at doing said challenge or having the most wins in versus but when you add many factors online play brings to the table, it kind of loses it's meaning.

Yeah anyone who thinks those old dragonball games were good fighting games either don't know what a fighting game is or have not played them since they existed. The budokai games were tons of fun to playthrough but as a competitive game they were trash. Fighters has a problems but it is leagues above the old games as a "Fighting Game".

Not sure how Lethal League compares to regular fighting games but if I think I have total control of the match and can outplay completely the opponent, I just go for the most risky and flashy way to beat him. At least there are higher chances of we both have fun. Kind like Xiao Hai plays KOF'98 one handed. and still beat the other guy

Discord killed Dustloop. Smaller games uses Mizuumi but it's also somewhat incomplete depending on how proactive the community is. I know they use character specifics discords that baffles me as how counter intuitive it is and bloated your discord will appear if you want to learn what other characters can do. Thankfully that idea didn't work for SNK games and both Dreamcancel, Orochinagi and spanish speaking websites have wikis and framedata charts.

About videos, I know Guilty Gear has keeponrock.in not sure if the guy or someone else made something similar for BBTAG.

As a rule of thumb, meter for a group of specials is better than separate cooldowns because it allows more variety in how to play a character.

What rule should apply when a special costs more than what is left in the bar? The special could simply not happen. In that case, the special bar should have marks on it for the threshold where this or that special becomes unavailable. A more interesting rule (because it creates more different situations) is to allow a special as long as the bar isn't entirely empty when you do it, and the more the special's cost goes over the bar's limit, the longer it takes the bar to return from broken to starting to fill up again and the more screwed up the special gets (fireball disappearing in mid-flight, paying with your own health for doing a special, very long recovery).

>getting into fighting games

>wants an arcade stick

Above all, you should play what is most comfortable with you and not feel obligated to purchase specialty hardware. Have you decided you would be more comfortable with an arcade stick or do you feel it's "the right thing" to do?

Frankly, a hitbox or keyboard is probably the objective best way to actually control these games, but they take some getting used to.

I bought a Qanba Drone for SCVI, as it was the cheapest stick on a list of EVO 2017 recommended sticks, and it was on sale on Amazon.

Pros:

Compact

Lightweight

Works with PC, PS4, and PS3 (also officially liscensed by Sony)

Designed to be freely opened and modded

Cons:

Buttons are obviously cheap, occasionally less responsive than they should be

Stick is a square gate (but maybe you might prefer that?)

Being cheap helped lower the risk of me wasting too much money should I try using stick and deciding I didn't like it. Turns out I like it a lot, so one of these days I'll be dropping in a Sanwa stick with Octagonal gate and maybe some new buttons.

Anything else above the Qanba's non-sale price ($80-90 it was?) it would be hard to go wrong, so just pick something with Sanwa parts and the compatibility you need in that case.

I've been into action games like Ninja Gaiden and DMC for a while now, but fighting the same AI enemies over and over has its limits. Fighting games seem to be the closest multiplayer analog to that sort of fast paced, high-skill-ceiling gameplay.

I've casually played a few in the past (SC3, MK9) so I have some idea what I'm getting

fightcade isn't a version at all, it is just the arcade original, these may be firther split between revisions but i never seen fightcade state they use the latest revision, re-releases like the Vita/PS2 are a different version, the dot emu ports don't count as a version either, unless you want to call them the shit version.

I didn't though I got a little bit tempted by '98UM. I made my mistake with SamSho V Sp when that came out - very poor in terms of modes/options, terrible netcode and forget about playing that shit solo because the AI does nothing but fish for input reads.

Side note, Capcom has announced that Rob Dyer has joined Capcom U.S.A. as its chief operating officer. Full press release:

Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced that Rob Dyer has joined Capcom U.S.A., Inc. as chief operating officer. Reporting to CEO Kiichiro Urata, Dyer will be responsible for all aspects of the company’s publishing business including sales, marketing and operations in the Americas.

With more than 25 years of experience in the video game industry, Dyer has held various leadership roles with companies such as Sony Computer Entertainment America, Zynga, Eidos Interactive, Crave Entertainment Group, and more. He has had extensive experience leading initiatives on a global scale to drive sales and growth.

“Rob’s strategic acumen, deep industry knowledge and established networks will play a vital role for Capcom’s business goals,” said Kiichiro Urata. “He will help steer the success of our incredible portfolio of popular brands such as Monster Hunter, Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Devil May Cry, and more.”

It's mostly publishing and marketing so it might not mean much for Duty Fighter. Ono's been replaced by the MonHun guy (and son of the CEO and brother of the president) but I don't know what impact that had yet, if any.

That idea from AoF was also copied by Eternal Champions. I think very useful taunts ruin what taunting is supposed to be about: You are much better than the other player (or at least you believe that), so you do the taunt to show you can win even when you make it harder for yourself for no reason. Of course, humans aren't robots. When your judgment of the situation looks preposterous to the other player and it pisses him off so much that it throws him off and so the useless taunt becomes the reason you win, and he screams, throws down the controller, divorces his wife, and starts hormone replacement therapy, that's the sweetest thing.

>>15723040

>fightcade isn't a version at all, it is just the arcade original

Not really, Fightcade 1 uses Final Burn Alpha 0.2.96.74 and Fightcade 2 uses FBA 0.2.97.43-25 That emulator might work for general use but their emulation is not prior to errors like games running faster or slower than at the arcades. And yes the DotEmu versions uses their own emulator with shitty options like no option to remap buttons on the offline ones and Steam MOTW with its performance issues like sound desync and unstable fps.

>you re better off emulating them, the PS2 versions are better than the PC ports

Not in any way. If you're talking about the UMs, there's no other way to play the Final Edition of 98UM in the west and both PS2 ports have input delay problems. That last one was also apparent in the PS2 ports of every SNK collection like MOTW, Last Blade and specially infamous Metal Slug anthology with severe slowdowns that makes it almost unplayable on the PS2 emulation on PS3 and PS4 you're actually better off playing the DotEmu versions of the Metal Slugs. Samurai Shodown V Special there's no other non-censored port besides the one released for the PS4. Only the vanilla version of V was released for the PS4 as far as I remember.

>>15723152

V Special release for the PS4 is the version that was supposed to be released 14 years ago if that retarded girl didn't go stabbing people in her school. But, as far as a port is closer than the original arcade than most emulated options since SamSho purists rather have to deal with loopholes to play on Xzone than deal with FBA/Fightcade or retroarch problems or differences. The PS4 version is also the preferable way the japanese players use other than the arcades themselves If you are in USA/Canada or in Europe, you can find matches using the SamShoVsp discord group. Players that went to EVO or other majors like juggy and DoctaMario are willing to play and teach there. You can find your way in the Mizuumi wiki that they made. But yeah, most go to Fightcade to play the game.

>>15717734

>Did they fix the netcode?

No, just for both the 97GM versions (PS4 and Steam) and they said for future releases they'll probably use that (much better) rollback based netcode for future releases. CodeMystics are open to update the UMs, Garou and SamSho as long as SNK pays them since you have to pay Sony to update a game.

Discord is more like a instant message service but focused on non-public groups so you can see how people are against trying to keep info there like you can see above in >>15709785 >>15709850 And that's why they like to use wikis like Mizuumi and SRK to keep stuff they find. Otherwise it's just asking for matches and see if anyone online is up to play with you like in the fightcade chat and talk, get tips,

Of course you gave up your privacy since how do you think Discord makes money?

Anyway, the wiki might not be the prettiest thing but it has plenty of info for the game plus some recent tutorials are good for beginners. If you want, every two weeks they do SatSho tournaments so I can share it here when it happens. Last time was a beginners tournament even.

Kinda funny coincidence since when I got the game, the netcode test drive was done with a PSN friend who's a leaf. Practically unplayable, did a couple of matches in the hopes it would stabilize in the second SG was like that in the lifetime ago that I played it but no. Eurofag btw.

And then there's the fact I stopped paying Soyny's online tax so I've been off the grid lately. Have to confess that lately I'm mostly loitering in these topics as I'm not playing any FG atm (IIRC the last I played was a few hours of SC2 last month) but it is a genre where I sunk a insurmountable amount of hours and still very dear to me so I always like to keep tabs on the news and watch some of the competitions.

I'm sorry so why don't you invest in a PC then? I also don't pay for PSN plus for some years and just buy PS4 games to bring to locals since I didn't bother to pay for the console and just buy discs for my PS3. In doubt, I get stuff on GoG or Steam if the first option is not available.

And I also admit that because of work and other life stuff, I haven't been able to play anything lately. Boot up training mode for some game for 15min after dinner at most. I haven't even been going to locals anymore. Thankfully there's a big holyday in my country starting tomorrow so I'll try to play some fightcade and dust off something from my backlog. I haven't even been on these threads or other places as much as before to know how things are in the communities or general videogame news.

Fuck for some reason my PC won't detect my external drive where I put my ROMs.

show him videos of good players beating spammers.

the best thing to teach people who suck and can't get good on their own is to teach them how to mimic. it's not good in the long run but its a small bump in skill.

Make them use the character and beat the shit out of them. Then they'll realize that it's not the fact that they're spamming that's keeping them out. It's because they're too predictable and there's actually thought being throwing out a bunch of projectiles.

I'd love to be some kind of mentor but we picked fgs like 2 weeks ago and we're all barely into basics. Still, I'm the only one doing the homeworks and I'm kind of teaching them specials and strategies right after I learn them

Unfortunately it sounds like you're the only one that actually likes the idea of fighting games and is also willing to do the improving. Hopefully they don't drop the games in a month.

When do you play SamSho? and which one (guessing V Special from the screenshot)? I'm trying to get better at the game myself. Right now I'm stuck playing Nitroplus Blasterz.

I play local on an arcade that I own, hopefully I'll some day have a decent enough connection to play on fightcade.

Yes, V Sp. It looks like it's the easiest of the bunch and I'm having a blast.

Never heard of nitroplus blasters gonna give it a look.

Speaking of games, I also have fatal fury special, kof98 and 02, breakers revenge and a bunch of others. What are some good entry points who are also classics?

Next time I have my homies around I'm gonna definitely try red earth, being co-op will avoid any scrubbiness and still teach about fgs

I'll always recommend Nightwarriors, the second Darkstalkers game. Most prefer Vampire Savior but I personally like this one more, it's also a bit more orthodox so easier to get into especially if newcomers are involved. Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold is another I like a lot despite the sequel garnering most favor. Not trying to be a hipster or anything, just that I think these have a better presentation and the mechanics are much simpler to get into. It also helps that I played these during the time I was most into the genre so they hold a special place in my memory.

There's also X-Men COTA which is a broken mess but pretty fun and it's so lenient with everything that it might be a good way to teach new players things like chains and cancels.

A passing mention to titles like the first Soulcalibur and Project Justice but that's DC stuff and probably not easy to find. It's a really good system for FGs, I think it's worth underlining that.

What's it like owning an arcade?

>Never heard of nitroplus blasters gonna give it a look.

It's a pretty fast paced air-dash fighter where you have 2 assists and many movement options and defensive options. The main gimmick of this game is the Vanishing Shield which is a universal defensive mechanic that forces a parry. You can hold it down indefinitely too. It removes chip damage, resets both players upon blocking, can block unblockable attacks, and can block cross-ups. However it make grabs unbreakable, makes it harder to switch between high and low block, and can make you roll instead if someone decides to cross you up during a multi hit attack.

The assists in this game are special abilities with cooldowns. They're not characters you can switch to but they're mainly there to extend combos, oki, and doing big damage. Using a assist during a combo or block string allow you to reset your character into neutral which makes for some interesting pressure.

This video is what the highest level of play looks like.

>What's it like owning an arcade?

After Sanwa's buttons pretty damn good. It's an original Pandora's box, and it isn't Chinese crap as much as I can see. It's pretty funny at Parties, girls love puzzle bubble and weird "spot the differences" games.

It's a little bit small, but we are Italian, we are used to be uncomfortably close

SF2 HDR, SF4 and UltraSF2 were trying to reblance ST. Convince me otherwise…

From that list alone, KOF98 and Breakers are great to start. Fatal Fury Special might have some less lenient inputs to really weird commands like Duck King but even if it's a bit gimmicky with the multi plane, it's also pretty fun still. You can just ask me about KOF if you want.

>>15734584

Good. Make them enjoy big damage. But be aware that Enja's speed thing is completely busted and thus, banned from competitive play

>>15737515

How is SFIV a way to rebalance SFII if it is so much more focused on links and combos in general?
