Perhaps but I doubt it. The “gender identity” or whatever is completely irrelevant in 99% of the games. I can't name a single RPG game where characters would even refer to you in third person more than on one occasion. But let's assume that you made a game where your character is often referred to in third person. Adding a choice between “he”, “she” and “they” during the process of character creation wouldn't make any sense. Why would all the characters in the world magically know how to refer to you? In real life you have to manually go around and tell people what pronouns you use. So, you'll have to write each character's dialogue in such a way that when (s)he “misgenders” you, you'll have an option to tell him what your preferred pronouns are. And they may tell you to go fuck yourself or something. A waste of time.

You need a word to describe ♂ and ♀ as a concept. And "sex" is worse than "gender". Imagine a book called "The Biology of Sex". Now try to figure out what that book is about without reading it. You cannot, because the word has more than 1 fucking meanings, your language is so shit that the only way for that book to make sense is for the author to dance around words and rename it somehow.

Gender is a linguistic concept exclusively. "His" and "her" and "actor" and "actress" are gendered words. You can also have a neutral gender ("it"). But it was purely linguistic until a certain someone wrote a certain research paper. It's a less important concept in our language than in other languages like German or Spanish. In German, you can't just say the equivalent of "the," you have to use a gendered article. "Der Bleistift" means "the pencil" and "die Brieftasche" means "the wallet." Pencil is masculine and wallet is feminine, for obvious reasons.

Here in the Netherlands the word gender didn't exist until very recently. We always used sekse or geslacht. A tranny used to be called a transseksueel and nowadays it's called a transgender. Same as the sudden use of genderneutraal where uniseks was originally used.

Not in case of video games (or user interfaces in general), which is what we're discussing here on /v/. The player just sees these two symbols in the character creator---one highlighted and the other darkened—and it tells him everything he needs to know. He clicks on one and the character's model changes to a woman, clicks the other -- to a man. In texts – sure, it might cause a conundrum. But it's a problem with English, there's no “right” solution here.

IIRC if you killed too many people and left them in the open the enemies would seemingly never go out of alert unless you went all the way across the map and hid in a box for an hour. They would also drag bodies away and some levels had reinforcements. Not sure on these, it's been a hot minute since I've played 1, 2, or blood money
