I'm not "mad" as if the game's existence bothers me, what bothers me is folks who have zero standards for anything, and zero introspection or ability to compare a product to past products they have used. Anyone who hasn't either only played shitty survival/BR games or started playing games yesterday shouldn't find buying this game acceptable, because it isn't. It's just an extremely barebones "game," shamelessly riding on the coattails of a franchise that got popular because of things that aren't even in this particular game (NPC interactions, plot agency and quest design). Furthermore as a programmer who has also worked on a few amateur games with a team, I can't abide the level of technical issues with the game. This isn't a beta; it's barely an alpha (a product is supposed to enter alpha when it's mostly feature-complete). Any amount of testing at all on a machine that wasn't their optimized developer machines should have revealed the types of issues on display. As a craftsman with standards, it upsets me to see people choose the objectively inferior product.

Come release day, there's gonna be another "steam /v/ fallout 4" PNG floating around and you know it because that's the standards of current /v/.

But to be honest, I'm not sure this one will actually make it and sell well. Fallout only ever makes it big because, like TES, it survives with mods. They fix bugs that make the game unplayable, tune out the bullshit that Bethesda thinks are good ideas and adds so much more and better content that the base game could just be TESEdit and nobody would notice.

However since FO76 seems to be focused on multiplayer and that voids mods from being used especially with centralized servers, this means no bug fixes, no tuning of gameplay, no extra fan made content and especially no lewd mods. I'm not even sure they are gonna try another Creation Club bullshit considering the fiasco that FO4 $cat Club was, so literally no fan content is going to be made.

I'm sure there's people that like the genre of videogame this is branching over to but there's far better alternatives anyway, so even those won't be around to save it and they certainly aren't gonna support the horrible mess that the game will be when it releases anyway. Games like these require an extensive playerbase to sustain itself, so if they fluke it at launch (and they will if they release it bugged as fuck, so they will) then it will die in a week.

We might just be looking at the next Lawbreakers, in terms of ambition and size of studio so the question is, what will be the Radical Heights of Bethesda?
