There's quite a few exclusives that are worth playing, it's also a pretty convenient machine in general. I'd recommend it if you can get a good deal. PS3 emulation is only sort of a thing on PC. It's not really good there either. The PS4 only plays PS4 games. If you want PS3 those systems are even better for cfw.

Is cfw on PS4 still on 5.05/.07? What's a rough cutoff date of games released that require higher firmwares?

Thanks. Second hand copies are getting relatively cheap around my area, so I may end up getting one soon. I'll need to research further into how developed the homebrew scene is before I make a decision or wait on it.

PSVR should work provided they predate dad of boy. You can probably find 20 games pretty easily. Gravity Rush 1 and 2 are a must to start you off.

There really aren't a ton of games worth it that aren't on PC as well, especially with Yakuza being ported to PC now. A few that are playable on 5.05 CFW you might wanna check out depending on what floats your boat

-Bloodborne (invasions/pvp are pretty bad so you're not missing much being offline unless coop is your thing)

-Gravity Rush 1 + 2 (GR2 had an online that was kinda cool but it got shut down earlier this year, but it only unlocked cosmetic stuff for the most part)

Homebrew scene is still in it's infancy, and it's been pretty stagnant since the 5.05 exploit earlier this year. 5.55 is apparently exploited in private but the cuck refuses to release it. The Syscon keys for PS4 did apparently get leaked back in July, so things may pick up again soon.

Since no one really answered that yet, it's shit. It's actually worse now than it was earlier this year since RPCS3 builds from the last few months made tons of regressions that broke a lot of games. RPCS3 is pretty much completely fucked right now and no one knows how long it'll take for the devs to unfuck it. Keep in mind the official compatibility list hasn't been updated, many games marked as playable won't even start or get past the title screen right now.

Basically the only games that can be played to the end without major issues or frequent crashes/freezes are Nier, Dragon's Crown, Demons Souls (afaik, haven't tested the latter) and a few PSN shovelware titles.

Maybe in 2 or 3 years RPCS3 will catch up to PCSX2 levels, but currently CFW is the way to go.

PS3 emulation is alright, it's coming along slowly, ps4 emulation and ps4 homebrew is a struggle.

There are no pro only games, the only pro enhancements for 1080P screens are essentially just minor FPS boosts for most games and supersampling (which isn't available on 5.05 Firmware). The only significant enhancement I can think of is 60fps in the SoTC remake while the regular ps4 is capped to 30.
