Launchbox, a frontend for your emulated video games on PC - but there is something odd….
>The problem is that using Xbox 360 wireless controllers is clunky and stuttery. When scrolling through games, it hangs for several seconds at a time. This never happened with Steam, Kodi, Hyperspin, or games. When I posted on their forums, the mods told me my system was not up to snuff from a hardware perspective, that there was a conflicting program, that something was wrong with my controllers / receiver, etc. After troubleshooting like crazy, running every antivirus known to man, every optimization guide, and even reformatting, the stuttering still persisted.
>Other users jumped in and said they were having similar issues. Eventually the main developer reluctantly released a couple betas to attempt fixing controller optimization, which I happily helped test. While I appreciate his efforts, it didn’t fix my problems, and the other folks in the thread had no improvement either.

already use retroarch as a backbone for older consol emulation. I actually have three different psx emus, PGXP-PCSX for widescreen games, Mednafen for general 2D games and Bettle PSX for buggy psx games. A frontend is just a handy tool to not get too much confused with such a lot of emus.

Honestly from what I have seen the windows can actually fuck up drivers quite badly. There is also no simple fix for it. By which I mean fresh install seems to be easiest one.
So maybe just stop using Launchbox?
After all this is why you should skip extra stuff when possible. The convenience factor is close to none and it is just one more thing for things to fuck up. Especially when we are talking about small application made by one guy.

It was an update where microshit fucked up and it deleted files on the libraries folders or some shit when updating. There were cases of this happening long before the update but they decided to release it and have the users beta test to make sure, after a bunch of reports they went ahead and pulled the update.
It didn't affect you if you didn't update or didn't have files on those folders.

Sounds like WinSxS performing some library consolidation and fucking up to me but my problem is Freetards made it sound like Microshit was deleting personal files now I just roll my eyes every time this shit happens and ignore it because they turn every little bugged update into a "fiasco". I've heard of this whole thing happening, but I'm using the latest version and none of my files got deleted. Then again, I don't keep my files on the C:\, never install anything to the Users folder, I changed the locations of the libraries to my storage drive. I don't know, 9 out of 10 issues never seem to hit me. I never install anything to Program Files, and I rarely install anything to the C:\ at all.
The only issue I was having for a while was where it kept changing my GPU driver to a non-functional Microsoft driver, but it turned out that this was because of a policy that Microsoft had instituted in an OS update that did this for drivers that the user did not consent to. The fix came pretty quickly from my GPU vendor (just an installer with a yes/no confirmation on the driver), and haven't had an issue since.

Not really, that one nuked files for the 1% of users relying on an option (moving the location of the user folders, such as Videos and Documents) Microsoft apparently forgot about.
It was a massive blunder by MS standards (to the point that they stopped the update rollout), and unfortunately Linux doesn't have the high ground because SystemD has completely hosed systems because Poettering refused to fix a bug about what rm would do if given a "…" argument in some cases, and in another case SystemD bricked mobos by mounting the EFI partition at the wrong time.

This was a very well-timed thread, as I was just looking into using Bigbox in my upcoming emulator setup (pirated if possible, obviously). A lot of anons in this thread seem to be of the opinion that it's useless, so maybe you can give me some ideas.
I want to put together a media center computer connected to my TV that boots into Kodi, which can then launch Steam Big Picture and a controller-supported emulator front-end for all my gaming needs.
The key here is that I want a front-end that 1. Looks good on a TV screen, and 2. Is fully navigable via controller. 3. This will be running on Windows 7.
I seem to recall when I was doing research that Retroarch had limitations that made it less attractive than LaunchBox's BigBox mode, but I don't remember what exactly. I would appreciate anon's input and suggestions.

I just don't use those folders much, there are way better tools to handle large amounts of media than windows' built ins, what is stored by programs in documents and similar folders is usually stuff you want to load quickly (ex. game saves, config files, repo database…), and I don't trust the more exotic windows options that much.
