It happens with gamblers all the time, their most important object on them is their comp card that lets them log in every day at the casino to get a free sandwhich or something. It's building the game as a local serv.
There is of course no reason for doing that if it was an actual MMO (client just handshake main serv' and get serv' seed data after logging in) or even a normal online game.
Which it isn't.
And this is also the reason why it can't work as an MMO (because instead of having a central serv' synchronizing players inputs, you have a multitude of data built from each local serv' that act as a client).
This right there is direct proof it's just a total conversion of Crysis and a scam.

Despite the shit they've received, despite the memes, and despite the rocky start, it looks like they're going to accomplish this shit. Fucking idiots wrote a new first-person module for the space flight, and so they couldn't use the FPS module of the engine and had to write a completely new one from scratch.
Conversely, Elite: Dangerous is taking the tiniest of baby steps, they still don't even have the ability to walk around on your fucking ship, it seems like it's going to be a good 4 years before you ever get to walk around on a space station (and it will be so small despite the massive size of said stations),a nd it will be a good 8 years before you ever get to walk around on a planet.
ED completed so much cheaper and promptly, but SC is going to complete with more style. It doesn't excuse either game, though. How many fucking hundreds of millions went into SC? It's quite possibly the most expensive game ever made. ED sold units based on things they told customers would be in the game, then they made features a fucking expansion before the game itself was even finished, and then they scrapped putting all those features in that expansion in favor of a "seasonal" model. This is a god damn nightmare, and this is precisely why the space sim genre is dead. Overly ambitious projects that misuse resources, take far too long, and incompetently fuck things up on the level that they have to rewrite an engine that they should have only had to extend, not recreate.

Accomplish what? Almost none of the pitch of the game itself exists. They currently have a fetch quest and all other effort was redirected into making luxury JPEGs, in-game storefronts, and massive amounts of graffix. It's the Project Entropia method where everything is about hooking whales with hype and the game itself is irrelevant. I'm sure we'll see luxury homes and personal space stations soon like happened with Entropia. Funny thing: Entropia Universe used CryEngine, too.
The community has shifted as well with the people who wanted/expected gameplay having taken a refund and bailed. The people who remain are a mess and are paying to get their ego stroked.

Oh I think it's going to have awful space combat, to be honest. Elite: Dangerous went out of their way to make the game enjoyment factor decline, and they still do so. Any time someone finds a fun mechanic, or a way to make money, Frontier nerfs it hard into the fucking ground. They broke the meta by introducing engineering, buffed engineering anyway, and then they had to nerf it into the ground.
If ED can fuck it up while focusing on space sim, I'm sure that Star Citizen is going to be super lame to play. I don't know why it seems like classic genres are experiencing this regression where instead of moving forward and getting better they hold it back and gimp it to somehow try and enhance the user experience by making it less fun to play. By that logic, I agree to buy your game and you sell me a game. But then later you change the EULA to where I have to consent to punching "Nazis" and people who hate LGBT, and if I now refuse the new agreement, well fuck me I don't get to play the game I bought. Under the guise of the law, I should still be able to play the version on which I agreed to said EULA AT TIME OF PURCHASE, but no one makes those versions available down the line, only the latest version with the latest EULA, yeah? >it looks like they're going to accomplish this shit.
Have you ever heard of attrition? (they have to rework asset, more and more asset as time goes on)
They won't, they already spend over 100m and you still have THE ENTIRE GAME to create. they are still at a stage where you develop the engine itself.
compare that to other expensive game (who also had a much smaller scope)… that were expensive WITHOUT taking into account the engine. they are not even at this stage .
The game is and will always be more empty than elite dangerous because that's how it was designed. They will hide behind the:
> " It's normal to take 15 min to land on a planet from orbit: it's a sim game"
> "it's normal to have to eat, sleep, shit"
even though it ruin the pace of the game once fully done. there is a reason why a tech demo is a tech demo and are never "expanded" into a game
All thoses small "features"they add will just become a hassle once the (((game))) will be released, because they are only good when you have nothing else to do .
<Daily reminder that each and every features are designed ot be an END in itself instead of a tool, quick, easy and enjoyable to use, that serve a purpose for a greater end.
Why? because there is no game yet. It still a tech demo. SO where is the fun in using such a tool with no purpose if it doesn't have a purpose of it own?
ex:
>"mining is better than in any other game it's more fun and engaging"
It's not, it's only "good' if you only have this to do. it was not designed as a mecanict made ot be use and enjoyed over and over and over against even after the 10 000th rock….
but i am pretty sure you will be abble to pay PREMIUM NPC with real monney, who unlike other NPC, will be able to mine for you without you being here
SO they will say: "it's just the 1st iteration, they will change/adapt it to future use" …
But regardless of all this:
EVEN IF THE GAME IS RELEASED TOMOROW WITH 100% OF THE INTENDED FEATURES
it will still be shit because the game is a failure as a concept due to the lack of focus in CR and the miss match between stuff that don't go well together and are just here because " it would be cool if …" without thinking of everything that is already planned and could be incompatible.
So yea, he is adding tons of uncompatible stuff.
Let's take EVE as an example:
Ever wanted to know why EVE's combat is not "dynamic" ? why black desert online who was 1st annonced and advertise as " even online but with dynamic/action combat in a medieval fantaisy setting" decide to become a shitty korean grinder were the sole purpose is to create the best babe (and thus either grind to pay for cosmetics or gut your wallet open?)
well aside from the fact that this way: BDO make much more money the reason is simple: YOU CAN'T have dynamic combat in eve because you put to many thing on the line: lag and stuff like that can't be forgiven as they can have so much implication.
But at the same time, they are not the only deciding factor in what make you good at EVE. So execution /reflex is a problem too. EvE would die if you could just be a mindless korean with perfect mecanics that spend all his time practicing his flying/dogfight skill… this is not an ASSFAGGOTS. EvE is about a univers where you are a nobody that can become something big with strategy and social skill
You can't be both great in mechanics and in grand strategy/tactics at the same time. So one must be removed/tamed.
Also: how are you suppose to dogfight when a ship is more than hundred or even thousands metter ?
Well you don't: just like in any SF: you are a commander and issue command to your crew ( in the case of eve: the computer) Even the biggest ship in elite are but the side of a frigate/destroyer in eve (300m long)
bf136a No.15576996
>>15576994
P2:
_________
So what does that mean for SC ?
well 1st SC still have no big flyable ship so nobody knows how it will work (hell, they are reworking AGAIN the gameplay regarding ship combat/movement i thought this was done since 2015, the only solid stuff they had since arena commander )
>the LTI screw over any "player driven economy" but CR already knew that, he planned that so the economy will NOT be dynamic,
he will use : IT's 90% NPC to explain why player action are not felt. 10% could have worked but that would imply ALL the playerbase would act and do a single thing, but there is NO WAY SC's playerbase would do something like burn jita .
>Piracy is unofficialy banned, CR said he would shadowban "grifer" and make them play with each other
But who cares, you will have so much restriction (if you are a free player, else just use your whale account to pay for everything your "trash pirate account" will need. ) that it is unviable to be a pirate. ONLY NPC and trash account backed by main whales account will do piracy.
>server of 50 to 100 people max.
so if you are a whale you are safe, you just need to travel in a group big enouth so that no matter how many pirate/griefer will come: they won't have the number to kill you.
Again: taking 30 min to take up a quest (landing + having to search for the NPC) that will reward you with a few thousand credits is fun when you have nothing else to do.
>daily reminder that the #1 mod for the shitty x-rebirth is NESA(never enter in station again)
…..
Honestly every aspect of the game is the prelude to an epic fail but it's kind of pointless to speak about this in detail since they were not even designed. They are just "concept" shity idead stuff that come from CR mouth like a kid constantly saying: it would be cool if…. (1)
The reason why i (we) are so sure about it is because: NO MATTER HOW you implement it into the game, it will be incompable with the rest fo the game.(ie: death system with so called: successor)
>insurance is fucked,
>piracy is fucked
>death is fucked
>travel is fucked
>trading is fucked
>mining is fucked
>pvp is fucked
Everything is so fucked that they need to rework stuff constantly to keep a game THAT IS NOT EVEN RELEASED YET FRESH
And~ … they are now short on money.
(1) this could the the sentence that resume SC: the answer comming from a 8-13 year old kid of the question " if you could designed the best SF game, how would it be" . and the kid add more and more stuff the more he speak about it because he have no sense of limit/understanding that some feature can't work together and even if they could: they target 2 very specific and different type of consumer
___
So no, SC will never succeed if you start to think deeply about it and get out of the concept stage.
That's why they are trying to seel as much stuff as possible. that's why SC42 will not be released since it's just the SOLO/campaign/tutorial mode for SC….

Fucking seriously ? Im playing Elite in singleplayer most of the time because i fly trade ships without anybody to defend me, but you take literally all stakes and tension out of the mp part if you do ban pirates instead of hunting them down. You should have in-game "police" hunting and killing pirates instead of just banning them. That way you have two actual gameplay loops and a very immersive layer of realism in the game.
This is such a shame. I just want a bullshit free immersive space sim.
Although i hope they at some point release the game just so i can see how many hours of mindless grind it takes to get a 3000$ space ship. They completely fucked their ingame progress by selling all rewards you could earn before the game itself even exists.

He's twisting words to fit his narrative. Shadowbanning griefers means, at least at present time, that if you are repeatedly fucking with people, griefing, you will be silently preferentially shifted to instances where other similarly aggressive players play. That means that
>you can always do pvp, only your targets might change
>this should only affect random matching
>low population areas with only a single instance would still probably put you in with whoever is there
>some pvp is always tolerated
The issue is that the actual limit between "fair" piracy and griefing will be defined by CIG, and by proxy, whiny whales. Nobody can tell where that limit will be, if we ever reach this theoretical point in the game's development.

Reddit estimates that one hour of gameplay nets you an average of 5000 UEC.
The cheapest starter shitbox ship costs 220900 UEC according to what was shown at the end of the Citcon stream, the most expensive Jpeg in the shop there was the Aegis Hammerhead which went for 625$-725$ on the RSI website and 21429600 UEC ingame, which should take around 178 days of non-stop grinding to earn.
0a63ff No.15577520

I don't think this is ridiculously off-base, or wouldn't be if the game wasn't shit. 4000 hours of playtime is what a veteran or a semi-veteran player would be on any given MMO, for that much playtime to net enough money to buy the highest-end ships would make sense if it wasn't for the fact that at the start of the game ~20% of players will already own such a ship. Such a high price also prevents chinks from crashing the market.
But that 5k UEC estimate is very questionable. What ship were they using, what were they doing, not to mention how everything is subject to balance changes, considering that most of these things aren't even properly implemented.

I know it's not the highest-end ship, but again, if those were only attainable to ultra-autists and organizations working together, it'd make for a more interesting game than if everyone was running around with top of the line ships with SSS-class equipment within a few months of launch. Unfortunately the cash shop still pretty much creates that same situation.
And of course the major problem is that it's not like there will ever be enough content to make those thousands of hours of grinding even remotely entertaining.

Are you cognitively challenged? The game literally doesn't even exist, and you expect them to have solid, rigid PvP rules and explicit definitions of what counts as griefing, when massive chunks of game features are missing? He literally says that in the video you linked that they do not know what will the actual gameplay be like, so they can't plan any specific rules ahead of time.
>But since when is that ok?
Since forever. Why'd you possibly try to moderate a gameplay environment that does not exist and will not exist for years?
At least you're right that the system is designed for carebears, but the carebear protection is not shadowbanning griefers, it's the PvP slider. Shadowbanning griefers is the newfag protection system, if anything.

which I imagine will see a lot more fake development as it's becoming more and more clear that the first two aren't getting anywhere/won't mesh together.
Ideally on engines that are suited to their design, then take all that and knit them together with obtuse loading screens while the last game throws numbers at the next, that's the only way I could see *it* functioning and that sounds (like hell) ripe for exploits and ENDLESS loading.
What's truly baffling is how they're trying to do all this in one mutant engine they're having to rewrite as they go and thus are getting nowhere. Years roll by and the tech changes under them, it's like someone trying to whittle an accurate portrayal of an ocean, an already impossible task made moreso just by the passage of time.

The "game" is designed where every system on paper will require the specific ship for it. Want to mine? Need a mining ship. Want to do cargo? Need a cargo ship. Want to be a healslut? Need the "medical gameplay" ship. They're more like classes than vehicles and you're expected to have a lot of them. So after 4,000 hours of hard grinding nothing but fetch quests, you don't have the ship to end all ships, you have access to one additional role.
It was always clear that their vision for this would be an obscenely pay2win nightmare and they'd be effectively selling JPEGs after "release", but the community didn't want to believe it. "You can still earn them in-game!", the excuse of every pay2win game ever.

It was probably the first entry in the whale-hunting genre, but it went under the radar until media started noticing people were paying several hundred thousand dollars for virtual property. In the original, you could "play" without paying, but the grind was insane. It's been a long time but I remember something about not even getting enough ammo from drops to use my weapons unless I paid for it. It would put any modern pay2win to shame. Most of the game was just hanging out with your expensive gear in expensive looking areas with great graphics and socializing about what a whale you were since there was almost no actual gameplay, and getting pressured through a 'spending is progression' model. Shekel Yidizen reminds me very much of that mess, in a "what if we remade entropia to look like privateer?" kind of way.
I'm not sure how it's changed since the early days, but the gameplay is probably still just a thin veneer on their monetization model.

Chris Roberts is like a kid playing with expensive Star Wars action figures.
I'm actually quite surprised to see a trailer for Squadron 42. I thought the solo game was nearly abandoned in favor of his multiplayer JPEG store. I guess Squadron 42 will be out "soon" because he is again out of money.

What content and is it "FUTURE" content or content that has been implemented now?
Have they finally got the fucking FPS module out?

Palememe does not support all forms of webm so it only supports YUV420 where as other browsers will support the newer YUV444, this is important to keep in mind.
Waterfox never gives me trouble for webms but I think it's windows only.
Cyberfox is good and both windows and linux.
Don't use brave, I think it has the same problems as pale meme and then some.
also get OLD tree style tabs for it ,the version 19 or some shit that looks like this instead of a side bar

It was originally developed by Illfonic but Chris didn't tell them the exact model measurements so they had to throw it out after a year of development and start over from scratch.

It is you baka, the Illfonic version was scrapped in 2015 but the neutered inhouse version they developed in a vain attempt to shut up DS and some other complaining heretics was released as part of Alpha 2.6 in December 2016.
