Forums and Imageboards are both on the decline overall. Both represent web 1.0/2.0 and are long since overtaken by web 3.0 social media and content aggregation sites like Reddit. The golden age ended a long ass time ago

I used to post a lot on PSOworld, and there were a few mods that got really heavy handed with the SJW shit, but the community put up more of a resistance than I thought and they seem to have been mostly kept in line these days.
Then again, the forum is fucking dead and the only real activity is in the PSO2 sections which I never visit even on the extremely rare occasions I do log in. Other than that, there's only one other game forum that's still around that I used to be a member of - but being a PS2 oriented message board, it's mostly just a tiny clique of chucklefucks that has more or less always been the core of the forum. I know they're still around, but I haven't actually been to the site since I got into a disagreement with the mods and fucked off away from their nonsense and egotripping.
For the most part, I've just been shitposting on image boards and avoided most other "communities" since they started to become a thing.

Social media is web 2.0. It's the idea that the users create the content not the website owner. The owner gives the tools to the normalfags to make their own entertaining and just sits back as a host.
Web 1.0 includes forums but forums are a sub section of a larger website. Social media the entire website, including what parts of it exist are user defined. A forum VS a facebook group being an example of 1.0 and 2.0

I used to post on a webcomic forum that was based in yurup, I was a massive shitposter, and would get banned all the time.
As they were eurofags, they were basically the proto-shitheads we see today in the states (truly, yurup was ahead of us, they already had one foot in the grave) but I also met my first girlfriend there whom I spoke with again briefly, but flaked on due to soul crushing depression, and illness, mainly illness though

An insensible person just follows along with whoever he listens to that seems to make the most sense and internalizes those opinions. I'm seeing a lot more of the latter than the former here. In the end, those opinions are formed far more by being impressionable (even if it's counter-cultural impressionability, like "if these guys are bad, and what they say is bad, and the other side must be right" where the last part is a leap of logic that needn't hold true at all) and factional than having clarity, reason, and conviction on one's values and the issues of the day.
