Has any one considered doing multiple long plays at the same time before? Take say 3 people who all play through the same game and then put them all onto the screen at the same time. Resyncing each of them at the start of each chapter.

I think it could be interesting to see how people approach different puzzles and combat situations.

It might be interesting as some sort of test when used to design levels, challenges, or decide on enemy patterns and placement. As entertainment it sounds boring as fuck and worthless.

Sounds like it could be interesting on paper, but I think it would need more to it to not get boring after 5 minutes. Like say, have all the participants be children or elderly or something. Even that probably wouldn't help it though. I watched a video linked here about a bunch of guys doing essentially what you described in Super Mario 64 co-op, and I got kind of excited by the concept but quickly found out it was a fucking miserable experience to watch.
