By far the biggest issue is in fact, the character portraits. They're pretty fucking rough, and I would reccomend that someone get on a model that replaces them asap like they did with stardew valley.
The MC only being able to say like 3 words because issues is pretty neat though, since it forces the writers to try and make them likeable without relying on dialogue. If only everyone else in the game wasnt so fucking annoying
None of this affects gameplay though, which for being made by like 1 guy, is pretty solid.

I felt pretty much cucked out of a full experince when the game used to only lead up to right before the second dungeon but now I can just binge it for HOURS at a time now.

Spamming your dash should eventurally recover the actual ability to dash but its fucking stupid, like whats the point if you can wait half a second, i'm basically counting to three to hold it to guard and then get three free dashes, fucking epic. Throughout the game you get elements like fire, ice, shock and wave, using these elements grants different 'moveset' on your supers but attacking and shooting are all the same dumb shit as your normal form, and you have a dumb fucking shared meter where if you use these elemental forms for too long you overheat and become braindead, you can cool off that meter by being in your normal form, so you switch back and forth like a braindead retard like what the fuck were they thinking, this is some gay shit. I also hate how dumb of a elemental cycle, it's fire is good at dealing with ice, but so is ice is good with dealing with fire, the same with wave and shock, what the fuck is this light and dark bullshit, fuck off with this braindead retarded shit, and the status affects they inflict are a boring dot, a slow that actually does something, a stupid more dmg on ranged attack and ANOTHER DOT, talk about retarded.
Since this dumb game has rpg shit it has the stupid idea to have a skill tree, theres one normal tree and four other trees dedicated to your elements, the dumb normal tree affects your normal form and your other four forms (with 50% of the stats), it gets even worse when you look at the map and there's usually three main paths, with two roads you can take on each main path, it's binary, copy-pasted and truly has little customization.
The puzzles in the dungeons are very well-thought out except you can break some of them by jumping in the air, attacking in the air and dashing quickly, nice one retards, but some of the puzzles are too pin-point accurate to pull off, so if you try to shoot at a certain angle, maybe you're not at the right position AND angle, you have the right idea just not the right autistic detail.
Overall this game is a decent game but it has some of the dumb flaws throughout its story, gameplay.

Writing is bad at the dialogue level, characters have very similar voices hidden behind strange quirks like Emilie's pseudo-french. It is better than most indieshit and on par with most AAA trash, but still bad.
Poz is limited to very ~diverse~ kinds of people. Be ready to see some unimportant token NPCs with brown skin. Considering this is a hyper-futuristic sci-fi world, could be way worse. Main chars are Japanese, German, French, Russian and Canadian (I think).
Plot is interesting actually, shame it is so poorly written since it could strike gold with its most intense beats. Not groundbreaking, but a decent sci-fi plot centered around MMOs, with good worldbuilding around it to boot and it has a neat 4th wall smashing metacommentary on itself (since this was an early access title).
OP already said, gameplay is FUCKING GREAT. Not the best game of all time, but it is still way, way above average. Feels like a more polished take on Terranigma/Illusion of Gaia/Secret of Evermore with some hypermodern 2D Zelda dungeon design. It is fucking ace.
I strongly recommend at least a pirate. Buy it if you feel people should be making more games like this and less walking simulators.

So im lvl 52 in sapphire ridges. Ive gotten 2 of the golden beetles but not sure what else to do other than grind for the gear in that area which requires 3rd tier foliage drops. This is going to sound bad, but these people are not fit for the job. Two reasons:
1. They don't work well together. One of the cops sprayed mace on the other officer and himself more than the perp. That is why it got so weird.
2. You have to have basic medical training is you are a cop. You cannot just "call for help" or some other shit. You need to find where the blood is coming from! FUCKING SHIT! THIS IS SIMPLE! IT'S NOT SPINAL INJURY, you don't have to keep the passed out guy in the worst possible position. Turn him the way that you can actually see if his life functions are ok. Also, something fucked up somewhere and now my base EXP gain is some like -32%. With Trainer at 0%, I'm only getting about 2/3 exp. The highest I can get it at the moment is +30% with the Tengu Mask, and then I'm still only getting 98% base EXP. Something to note. The Burglar's Mask says it lowers EXP gain by 30%, but it actually nullifies EXP gain. Wasn't really paying attention until I noticed nothing was giving any EXP.

Boring as mud. Nothing intersting happens until about halfway through, then, based on the length of a speedrun I was watching, nothing interesting happens until the about the end which I am now nearing. What does happen is interesting, but it makes up so far a tiny fraction of the actual mainline story. The rest is just going through the boring ass "MMO" campaign with your retard friends, and it seems the MMO campaign isn't even finished in the game world, so you reach the end of that with whimper. At least, it's not finished when you reach a certain point. Not sure if more will be added after the end of the story, or if there's nothing too substantial after the story. If there's no "updates to Crossworlds" after you finish the story though, I doubt the devs will actually add "updates" in an update seeing as I last are they were trying to figure out NG+.

Just finished it. The beginning is somewhat interesting, though that lasts a very short while. Then a whole lot of nothing happens until the middle, which lasts a little while. Then a whole lot of nothing happens until the end, which is longer than the middle. It's like they couldn't figure out how to tell the story in anything but sudden plot dumps.
There is no post game. There is a post game planned, for December 2019. After beating the game you have the option of returning to the beginning of the final chapter to fuck around until the post game is added. You are also given to the ability to skip the entire final dungeon and some events leading up to it. so you don't have to redo it to access the post game.

While the game is a decent size, the actual story is very short. It was probably an afterthought, or they had no idea how to incorporate it with the rest of the game, so they just split it into beginning middle and end, and then stuffed those chunks in their relative places along the CrossWorld's boring "MMO" campaign.
