Since you're refusing to post specs, I'll assume it's the shittiest laptop around with an Intel Atom or Celeron and integrated graphics. In this case, even games such as Stalker or New Vegas probably will not run well.
You can never go wrong with 16-bit and 8-bit emulation. Though with such low specs even these emulators must be chosen carefully - for Genesis for example you'll have to use Kega Fusion, and for SNES either ZSNES or some old version of Snes9x.
For PC games, since you like FPS, you might try No One Lives Forever 1 and 2, Outlaws, Blood 2 and the first AvP, these ought to run well. There's also a few freeware / old-school platformers / arcade-style games such as Castlevania: The Lecarde Chronicles 1 and 2, Double Dragon: Fists of Rage and Claw. However most of these games might require a lot of fiddling, tweaks, mods and community patches to run well on modern Windows / modern systems, you'll probably also have to use dgVoodoo 2, so if you're a computer illiterate brainlet it's better to stick with retro emulation.

These might not be as toaster-friendly depending on what kind of toaster we're talking about.
Recent 2D / pixel-art games such as Enter the Gungeon have much higher system requirements than most people imagine because most modern indie devs can't into optimization at all.
As for SimCity 4, I remember that over a decade ago it ran like shit on my Athlon XP 2.1 GHz + 6600GT, so I figure it's not as toaster-friendly as it might seem.

The general gameplay style of having squads led by heroes, plus map exploration where you go around killing neutral units for rewards and securing resources reminds me of HoMM 3. Capturing enemy settlements and being able to build the units of the settlement's race is also another mechanic found in both games. The deliberate reduction of micromanagement and active pause function also makes it suitable for people who generally prefer the slower pace of turn-based strategy.

I recommend all of these classics
Quake 3 Arena (FPS arena game, fast-paced)
Commandos (Real-time tactics game)
Heroes of Might & Magic 3 (Fantasy TBS with tactical combat)
Dungeon Keeper 1 (RTS… of sorts)
Lemmings (Puzzle platformer, quite fun)
Theme Hospital (Sim, comedic)
Sacrifice (RTS where you wage war as an extremely powerful wizard, has a highly branching campaign)
Thief series (start with Thief 1, obviously)
Warcraft 2 (RTS)
Duke Nukem 3D (FPS, more oldschool than Quake 3 Arena, but it's a classic)
X-COM: UFO Defense (Turn-based tactics)
Command & Conquer series
Worms: Armageddon (turn-based 2D platformer combat)
Jazz Jackrabbit 2 (Platformer, also the best game Cliff Bleszinski ever made, but you might need to fiddle with the GOG DOSBox config's CPU settings to fix the stutter)
Stargunner (Side-scrolling shooter)
>>15560052
KotOR 2 needs to be played with the Content Restoration Mod (https://deadlystream.com/files/file/578-tsl-restored-content-mod/) and Improved AI (https://deadlystream.com/files/file/833-improved-ai/). Otherwise everyone is fucking dumb as nails, companions and enemies included. Apparently the AI will never use upgraded feats or powers even though they have them. Hanharr will also use Wookie Rage and Bao-Dur will use his shield-breaker ability now.

Nigger I've been gaming on a laptop for over 4 years now – you can get a pretty powerful laptop rig nowadays for the same price as a desktop, if you're clever about it. Post specs in threads like this.
As for good toaster-friendly games, from the top of my head, try:
>Stronghold
>Mafia
>Gothic
>Sengoku Rance
>Thief
all top-tier games ANYONE should be able to run
000000 No.15564662
>>15564651
But if you're clever about it you can build an even better desktop for the same price. Laptops have small size and minimal airflow, which means you get better price-performance with a desktop computer which can afford bulkier parts and doesn't need underclocking to prevent overheating. If you overclock, it's definitely desktop master race.
e5d2b5 No.15564685
>>15564662
Of course it's always better to get a desktop if you can, but if you're on the move often, changing locations for days at a time, it's better to have a laptop you can bring with you than be without a PC for that period.
Overheating is not an issue as long as the laptop construction isn't retarded and you maintain it well (clean it out at LEAST once a year, prefferably also changing the thermal paste), but yeah, you probably won't be doing any overclocking.
Still, I bought this laptop for $900 ($800 with today's currency rates) four years ago, and can still run even the newest AAA trash on it as long as I set graphics to minimum. The flipside is, of course, that I'll probably need to buy a whole new computer in a year or two, as I can't swap parts like with a desktop, but $900 once in 5 years doesn't seem like that bad a deal to me.
000000 No.15564707
>>15564685
I built my gaming desktop PC for something like $600 5 years ago and it still runs the latest AAA trash at better than minimum and I can OC around 50% more performance out of both the CPU and the GPU. Your primary bottleneck is the lack of RAM. Honestly these days you should have at least 8GB, 4GB as a bare minimum. You have 2GB on a Windows 7 installation, which means Windows 7 by itself is already eating up nearly all your RAM and for the rest of the memory it's using your hard drive as extra memory. Since your hard drive is well over 1,000 times slower than RAM when it comes to random read-write (which is what RAM is used for), you are fucking crippled. A quick lookup tells me you have 204pin DDR3 RAM and word has it your laptop's motherboard cannot handle over 8GB of RAM:
Here's a list of RAM that should run on your laptop: https://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=Property&Subcategory=381&N=100007609%20600006178&IsNodeId=1&IsPowerSearch=1
2x4GB: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231342
Buying 2x4GB is probably the way to go. It's only $50 and should make it just usable enough that you could sell the damn laptop for $80 or more once you upgrade to something decent. Failing that, I would strongly consider switching over to a lightweight linux distribution, probably Artix Linux (https://artixlinux.org/), since it's lightweight, focused on being fast, and doesn't require you to compile shit (if you're wondering about systemd-free, systemd is a popular software suite that handles essential system functions, but it's bloated, unstable, and insecure - systemd-free handles those system functions more specific softwares, everything works either way). It's not the most noob-friendly thing, but it is a hell of a lot faster than Windows 7 will be and speed is a major factor in usability here.
Assuming you're sticking to Windows, it's also highly probable your PC has set up too little swap/pagefile space (the amount of hard drive space your PC has allocated to use extra memory), making shit run even slower than it needs to due to memory needs hitting a wall. I'd check this out and fix it. The quick guide is pressing StartKey+R, entering "SystemPropertiesAdvanced.exe", you should be on the Advanced tab, click on Performance section's Settings, (you can fiddle with visual presentation settings to make Windows a bit faster here if you want), switch to Advanced tab of Performance Options, click on Virtual memory section's Change option, uncheck "automatically manage paging file size", click on your C: drive, select "Custom size", and I would set "Initial size" to 8192 and "Maximum size" to 16384 (or you could just set both to 16384, honestly - it's what I do). Click "Set" (not OK), then click OK, reboot, and you should be golden. If you didn't click Set, then the changes didn't take, so click the damn button, then you can click OK and exit the stuff. You will probably notice your PC runs better now. This obviously eats up extra disk space though, since that space is now reserved to do computer memory things.
Okay, I know you wanted gaming recommendations. You can emulate with ZSNES (http://www.zsnes.com/), but you'll also need SNES game ROMs to play games on it. ZSNES may be old, but it is damn lightweight and it will run on your specs. Just about every list in this thread should serve you. Aside from those lists Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri (recommend playing Classic first - not Alien Crossfire - because it's better & installing kyrub's patch for classic, yitzi's patch for expansion, and PRACX to make the damn thing run properly on a decent resolution) is also a very fun science-fiction TBS which is an incredible time-waster that can make hours pass like minutes. Oh, and for another fantasy TBS recommendation I can throw in Eador: Genesis which is also quite fun. For RTS I'd also recommend Age of Empires 2 (but not the HD remaster, it is fucking shit, bloated, and buggy) or Age of Mythology (again, not the HD remaster, same story). Have fun.
Honestly I believe the overwhelming majority of games in this thread are playable on your toaster.

KotOR 2 is actually widely considered to be much better than KotOR 1, however it had a shitty and buggy launch. Anyway see: >>15560325 for my recommendations on running KotOR (or for my other game recommendations). Some /pol/ autist got tor banned for another 2 hours again so I'm multi-proxying.

My bad, I made that assumption because of your graphics string, but apparently "Monitor PnP genérico" is written the same in Spanish and Portuguese.
As for Terraria, it lists 2.5 GB of ram as minimum requirements and recommends 4 GB, so you're already pushing it without mods. I had no idea because I never tried that game (don't care about it), but I'm surprised a pixelshit game has such high memory requirements.
One thing you should also pay attention to when picking games is that the graphics chip on the i5 460m only supports DirectX 10 / OpenGL 2.0, and many contemporary low-spec retro-style games use DX11 / OGL 3.0 APIs even if they have NES or Atari graphics.

With a i5 460m you don't have to put up with ZSNES, higan / bsnes is obviously a no-no but current Snes9x svn will probably run fine.

>>15573692
True, snes9x should run fine too. ZSNES is extreme lightweight edition for toasters. Either one works, but the former has better emulation iirc.

Only on the toastiest of toasters. Otherwise I would never recommend it because it's bad.
>>15572858
Even the current version still supports pretty old systems, but no if you mean real toasters then you can go ZDoom or even older source ports.

Not necessarily true. If you really wanna make crazy shit with hundreds or thousands of trains running on a map at a given time, processor power actually does become a bottleneck to running it at full speed. God help you if you want to use a lot of boats.

I have a laptop just for work and I managed to play Hotline Miami and Shadowrun on it. I stopped playing videogames though since I need this computer to last me the next 6 years and I don't want to fry it.

I couldnt even run Stalker with an RX 470 4gb, much less a shitty laptop with integrated graphics.

Commander Keen (platformer) is still straight abandonware innit? Eh, you'll have to set up DOSBox at a good CPU rate to make it work, but that isn't hard. Fun game though.
If we're going over DOSBox games, I'll also recommend:
Prince of Persia 1 & 2 (Quality platformer)
One Must Fall 2097 (Fighting game)
Raptor: Call of the Shadows (side-scrolling shooter)
Golden Axe (Beat 'em up)
Speaking of old games, here are some more recommendations:
Hocus Pocus (Platformer)
Majesty 1 (RTS)
Al-Qadim: The Genie's Curse (RPG)
Caesar 2 (City-building sim, ancient roman)
Day of the Tentacle (Adventure game, Yes, it's a Tim Schafer game, still worth playing)
Grim Fandango (Adventure game, also Tim Schafer)

I know a lot of people have already said things along these lines but you can play pretty much anything made until 2005 with no worries
I have a vista laptop with only 1GB of ram and it does this.
If you're having trouble you can optimize your PC's performance by getting rid of useless background processes like Antivirus
also if anyone has any suggestions for PC games with really low filesize requirements (ideally stuff like Cavestory but it can be up to 50 mb I guess) I'd appreciate them

Also, when trying to get more out of an old laptop, consider switching the OS or setting up a dual boot with some lightweight Linux distro, like Mint XFCE. Of course then you run into the problem of finding compatible games, but Wine can do quite a bit and with a little searching you can also usually download or buy Linux versions somewhere. There are a number of games that were unplayable through Windows, because of all the bullshit background bloatware built into the OS, that ran just fine on Linux either straight away or after fucking around with them for a bit.

Yeah antivirus is a massive slowdown, especially on slower computers.

.kkrieger. It's a 3D first-person shooter in only 96kb. System requirements might be too high for a total toaster though. http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=12036
Honestly SNES games, GBA games, and most DOS games will do. I'll add Tomb Raider 1 & 2 to the above lists of recommendations.

Nigger at least half those games can be played on a toaster in their original arcade versions via older, toaster friendly versions of MAME. Take your 3 color eurotrash machine back to the United Caliphate of Britstan.
