I've beaten this game more than 50 times. Is it the best game of all time? why was this so much better than any other Splinter Cell, apart from the great level design, the atmosphere, the tight controls, the music, the banter? is it the only masterpiece that Ubisoft has done? what do you like the most from the game?

The coop was fun, too bad it was such a short game though.

71291c  No.15502447

Chaos Theory just did a lot more right. The movement was smoother, levels were totally stealth focused, the characters were better, the music was fantastic. I think it goes CT>SC>>PT>DA (Xbox version)>>>DA (360, PS3, PC)>>>>>>>>>>>>>BL>>>>>Conviction

I booted up double check 'em agent the other day. Man, I totally forgot how stealth centric it is compared to other titles. I started a no kill run and was surprised to see the stealth grade (which I didn't honestly remember) give me a lower score for knocking out enemies. It truly does want you to ghost through the entire game.

>SC>>PT

I don't see how that is the case at all.

SC had forced gun fights one of which was defending a location, and the levels weren't as good or interesting as PT. SC and PT both had a serious issue where you where fed through a linear sequence of stealth scenarios and basically had to figure out what the devs wanted you to do, but SC would usually have 1 solution where as in PT 1 solution was rare. Both SC and PT are pretty bad though. They have a really strong formula but it's ruined by really bad level design, and SC is just straight up tedious.

It's sad because I probably have more experience with these 2 games than CT, despite CT being my first one. Every time I try to marathon through all 3 games I get burned out by the time I reach CT. SC is just such a chore to play I already want to pull out by the time I reach PT.

its a fantastic game because its a truly designed sequel, the designers looked at sc and pt dropped everything bad and improved the good parts

>is it the only masterpiece that Ubisoft has done?

The "Gen 1" version of Double Agent is the spiritual sequel to Chaos Theory. Just installed an emulator to play through it because I had no idea there are two different versions. Unfortunately, that's the only way you can play it on PC.

Really? I mean it came out on pc.

they're different games. And anyways, the definitive version is the XBOX one, SC games were always worse in PS2/GC (worse graphics, different level design since they couldn't handle whole levels and had to be broken down in sections).

Anyways old gen DA gets way too overrated because of its relative rarity and hipster points. It's good but not CT good.

The only way to play the *original* version, on PC, is via an emulator. There are two versions of the game.

PC, X360, and PS3 got the ‘next-gen’ version which was developed by Ubisoft Shanghai.

Xbox, PS2, and GameCube got the original version, developed by Ubisoft Montreal.

The latter is much more of a sequel to Chaos Theory, and features similar game mechanics and level design.

Which of the Splinter Cell games are best/good/worth playing? I never got around to playing the series, even though I remember it looking pretty cool.

first 3 are worth playing

3rd one really stands out, its a classic, one of the best stealth games ever

interesting, never knew that. I guess it goes to my play list when ill be replaying the serie (and gamecube double agent will be the last game i play)

First 4. Even if you're playing the 7th gen version of Double Agent.

this ranking is correct, however i will argue that blacklist was better than pc/7thgen double agent, because blacklist wasn't a buggy piece of shit.

but as long as we're all agreed on conviction being the absolute turd that it was, i'm okay with this.

>I don't see how that is the case at all.

because your brain doesn't remember correctly. pandora tomorrow has a superior story (while still being generic as fuck) but the gameplay is near identical to splinter cell, so it wasn't much of an upgrade. splinter cell gets the benefit of the doubt because it was the start of the series.

the real crime is not giving us another entry, although at this point it would be best to reboot because blacklist's ending was stupid and doesn't leave much room for more games. and i'm still waiting on the first four to get proper remasters or remakes, they absolutely deserve it.

PT disappointed me because I'd played so much of the first game that when I saw the new animations I was just irritated that Sam moved differently. I didn't feel like it was the same character, despite almost everything else being familiar. Similar to how I can't stand the Arkham Batman games because Batman is basically Marcus Fenix with a cape visually, so I don't feel like Batman as I imagine him (and as he is presented in every other incarnation).

BTW, wasn't there a Batman game that ripped off Splinter Cell?

>BTW, wasn't there a Batman game that ripped off Splinter Cell?

maybe that game vengeance or the other one that was a semi-sequel to it, i think they were both heavily stealth-based.

You couldn't KO punch guards in SC1. You also didn't have forced gunfights in PT. And my main problems with SC was the map layout, which was better in PT.

b1b29e  No.15527329

Pandora Tomorrow is underrated. It's up there amongst the better stealth-games. Also introduced new moves you could do which truly made the Splinter Cell games better.

I wanted to like PT, but there's something off about it. The mouse sensitivity is always wrong and it doesn't look as good as I feel it should. I remember something about there was an effect that's inaccessible to newer cards now.

>>15502388

It certainly is the best stealth game yes better than Thief you fags and undeniably one of the best games made. This and Silent Hunter III are the best games made by Ubisoft. I wish I could play the co-op campaign with someone, though.

As do I. Shame no else wants to play. Guess we will never experience it again.
