Schleswig-Holstein was a semi-autonomous part of Denmark. The Danes decided to fully annex it with the goal of forcing all the Germans there (a majority of Schleswig-Holstein's population) to speak Danish and follow Danish customs and so on, basically to assimilate them into being Danes. Tougher than EU 3 certainly. I've seen some strategic maneuvers by the AI with the mechanics that I would expect from human players.

But as it is with any gsg game the AI is always the weak point. Especially the diplomacy as I saw in my game. As long as you get relations and diplomatic reputation up to astronomical values (+76% and 11.6 rep) you can basically do anything.

I think that the M&T did a decent job of remastering the AI. Especially how the states do the blobbing among themselves. I'm currently at 1700 and it's one of the more believable maps I've ever seen. With my input of course.

I've coded about 45 events (3/4 of which are notification events) and like 10 decisions regarding the Guyana border conflicts and I still haven't even gotten to the alternate timeline where VNZ and BRZ aren't actually sitting ducks while ENG cucks them out of their clay or the one where BRZ or VNZ are GPs and decide to solve it on their own whether by pen or sword.

Still don't know how much should RNG affect the final arbitration, so far there's 5 outcomes:

>One where ENG keeps Esequibo + Amacuro.

>The extended Schomburgk line where ENG keeps Esequibo, Amacuro and Guasipati.

>One where ENG's claims are denied and all the claimed territories are seceded to VNZ.

So probably if VNZ is played by a non-ai, there should be a higher chance to gain the claimed territories, likewise as ENG/ENL.

And as for the alternate timelines, still not too sure what to do. I had a rough draft where VNZ/BRZ started colonizing all the territories claimed by ENG, but that's about it.

I use fast universalis and theatrum orbis terrarum addon deep blue water mods. They are for older versions but still work np.

The first one basically forces counters which in my case increases the speed significantly. Second one also has some impact.

Other ways to speed it up is to not to use North American and African natives. And if you are just running it without tinkering with the map you can go to the trade goods map mode and zoom out so the icons don't show. It will run quite a lot faster than with other modes.

Additionally Bill's process manager is very useful to prioritize EU4.exe and lower others.

It's most likely the case that after Paradox modularized the whole pagan system making Hellenic playable required a very low amount of effort. They already put in all the work so that any pagan religion can get most of the various pagan events and decisions depending on how they are reformed, Hellenic just requires some additional localization + a small handful of unique events.

Keep in mind that every DLC has to have small features since they can get finished in a short timespan before release or by the more inexperienced devs who couldn't contribute to overhauling the crusade system or w/e.

Anyway, don't worry about debt early-game. Any loans you have to take will be able to be mostly paid back by the money you get from beating your enemy in war.

Also, Morroco and other nations in that same group have +50% Increased Coring-Cost, so you probably can't afford the admin mana earlygame to annex them; just chill with Castile as an ally and focus diplo, get exploration and begin colonizing, starting with the Carribean.

Also, make sure you destroy forts that you don't need, and mothball the ones you do need.

Just fuck around for awhile, it's really an easy game so you'll get the hang of it in notime, just play some games while focusing on learning the ropes without worrying about winning or not since you'll still be new.

Anyone know how to download larger mods (of EU4) from steam without owning the legit game (pirated)?

Steam workshop downloader only seems to work with smaller files; for example, I can download smaller mods like Fast Universalis just fine using the steamworkshop.download site, but Veritas et Fortitudo (the one I'm trying to get, which is 400+MB in size) gives a 'Service Unavailable' error.

I think you've duplicated (and broken) some of the colony railroading decisions. At least German West Africa is in FlavourMod_GER.txt while in HFM it's in FlavourMod_Africa.txt and it looks like an older version.

Why is it so laggy? I tried to record a full game for a timelapse but the fucking game kept stuttering, I recorded 4 hours of footage and the game was barely in 1880, that means around 2 hours was just the game being frozen.
