After Just having beaten beaten Ao and all the games before it I have to say the combat changes in ToCS seem pretty bad. I really dislike the orbment/art changes and s-crafts are way too strong. Status actually being somewhat useful against bosses is pretty cool but besides that it really seems like a step down from Ao.

There's a pretty decent in universe reason as to why the changes are the way they are. Because you're essentially just test driving better models for the Erebonian Army before they start mass producing them for every soldier. Think about it. Instead of having to combine an amount to get, say, Aerial, you can just slap Aerial on and have other useful shit but yeah, the game gets pretty broken due to how they handle it.

It was an overreaction because crafts (and indeed all physical attacks) in Ao we're fucking useless by the last 3rd of the game, so the whole meme just devolved into arts spamming (usually spark dyne). So they buffed the hell out of crafts. The result was a game very easy to break, but at least there's some variety in your methods now.

Finally finished the 3rd anons. That wraps up the trials series for me. What a ride that was. I truly am glad i somehow found this series. I really cant think of a better experience than this entire series of LoH. Getting to know all those characters and seeing them change across games was truly special.

Theres a shit ton i could speak on. Since i finished the 3rd most recently i guess i would say it was really nice to see a lot more back story. I know some people didnt like the 3rd but i thought it was a really great finale. I also enjoyed the fact i could see the phantasmal blaze plan being discussed. I had heard about it in CS2 (i played the games in reverse) but i never dawned on me just how expansive this series is. Olivier was also a high point of the series and i always had him in my party. CS4 wraps up the Erebonia arc very nicely. It also answers a lot of lore questions. A much clearly picture of what's going on in Zemuria is forming. Obviously there's still more questions, but it's really big stuff that will be answered for future arcs. But everyone in Erebonia got a really nice resolution. I was grinning the whole time during the ending credits.

I personally like CS overall, but can definitely see why people would say it's too bloated, especially when the first two games end up feeling so inconsequential compared to the later two, but like with FC those two games are still essential in making sure all the moments in the later half of the arc pay off. At this point no arc will never be like Sky was again because the nature of Kiseki is it gets more and more complicated the longer it goes on. I felt very satisfied by the ending to CS4. Rean has 11 potential girls he can spend his final bond with on the night before the finale. Those 11 are more or less split into two unofficial tiers. Six of those girls fall into the first tier, who get a full "I love you" confession and a kiss, those are: Alisa, Laura, Emma, Fie, Sara and Towa. The remaining five more or less get a "maybe in the future" type scene with varying degrees of seriousness depending on who the girl is, these are: Juna, Altina, Musse, Alfin and Elise. I would say the romance pays off nicely, though I also think that your choice isn't ultimately going to matter over the course of the series. If how Lloyd was handled in CS4 is any indication, they will probably just keep Rean's relationships ambiguous in future titles.

I don't think plot complication is what would keep an arc from reaching Sky level, as that implies the Sky trilogy had a simple plot. The first game yes, but after that the plot got waaaay bigger than "boy and girl try to find their dad while getting their mercenary license." It's more about quality of writing for the plot and character writing. I feel that the Civil War in CS II was very poorly handled and ended much too quickly and decisively. The characters of the main cast was also fairly lacking in my opinion, with the exceptions of Sara, Jusis, and Rean(kind of, mostly due to a post I read on a forum that explained his mental state). People say that I should see the two games as the Sky FC of the arc, but I still feel like with the time and story put into two games they could've done more with the characters than they ended up doing. The CS games were also a bit more blatant in their use of tropes. Tropes aren't bad, but it's a matter of how a writer spins them that can make them work.

I enjoyed my time with the games, I just hope that things pick up and improve in the latter two, as the former felt like they were mostly spinning their wheels and drop-feeding foreshadowing for future events.

I wouldn't want it to carry over, that would just be unnecessary complication for fan pandering, though that does have the issue of "What's the point of the choice if it won't matter? It makes these options feel more inconsequential as by design they must have nothing to do with the character's development." But I don't really care too much, just so long as I get my fan pandering since they bothered to build it up. I see they cut out Claire and Sharon after CS2. I wonder if Claire was because the VA died. Did they kill her out of respect, keep her silent, or replace the VA? My bet way back was that they'd keep her silent in her cutscenes and recycle her battle quotes. I also can't help but notice… one other thing. … Altina's on that list, but not Millium. Shit, she grew on me throughout her bond points in 2. At least my main girl Sara got Best Girl treatment, though I do look forward to meeting the others. He might actually be able to enforce this, since that's a matter of development on the Japanese side. He's not talking about bringing games westward faster and caring about the overseas market, which is something he can't really control or force faster due to the sheer size and scope of these games. They're localization nightmares and XSeed are the only masochists willing to do this as a job, and even then it's mostly out of love than profit. The sales of the CS Kai will probably have a big effect on resource allocation for CS3, however they deal with the Crossbell shaped hole in the Western Releases. CS Kai will show there's an active audience worth localizing for on PS4.

In Japan the Kai versions added turbo mode, hd textures and save carryover (not plot, just equipment and sepith bonuses) to CS3. The XSeed ports coming early next year will also add in the extra recorded dialogue as well as official dual audio. Most people are taking this as a hopeful sign that CS3 and 4 are on the horizon. If that's the case, I hope they do extra va for CS3 and 4 too because it could use it.

To expand more on the point above, about number of people, it isn't that campaigns using form letters are entirely ineffective, there are campaigns that have used them and succeeded.

I only ever bought the first one on vita, and i immediately regretted it when they announced the third part as a PS4 exclusive. Should have seen it coming, because the exact same shit happened with the trails in the sky.
