Giant fan and I don't see this. It's not beating Pokemon or Zelda in sales. He just has a nice humble series that comes out whenever it does and doesn't have a suffocating reputation to live up to or room for any pretentious shit, which leaves him perfectly free to shift core gameplay mechanics and setting entirely in literally any way aside from fucking Whispy Woods every first level.

To be fair, if sales counted for shit, Animal Crossing would have six reps right now.

Fun fact, Animal Crossing has four mainline installments, and two of them have sold over 10 million copies. In fact, both sold ~11.75 mil.

Zelda, has ten mainline installments, give or take if you consider some of the handheld games as mainline, and it has only sold over 10 million once, if you combine both the Wii U and Switch sales of Breath of the Wild. Unless you want to go out and sum up things like the 3D and HD remakes, in which case, even then, it has sold over ten million twice, with BotW and Ocarina of Time + OoT 3D.

Don't get me started on Fire Emblem. Seven characters, and the best selling game hasn't even reached two million copies.
