It's pretty good, but not worth gushing over. It does have a very limited library of worthwhile games, and the marketing for the system itself was shit, which contributed to the problem.

Wii U was actually a really awesome console but it had no games. It almost had games but then there was the big censorship controversies with X and the SMT idol game which forced me to boycott the console. I was super excited for X and watched all the japanese trailers for it. I had originally planned to buy the Wii U for it and maybe two other games but when it finally came close to release in the US it was painful how bad they messed it up. Like most of the game's terminology is already in English and they change it to meaningless trash, like Doll to Skell for example or removing the breast slider from the game that was hailed at e3 for having a really good character creator.

I still haven't bought a switch yet either, I'm waiting on really good CFW stuff so I don't have to give nintendo money for censored games and ports.

One thing that pisses me off is that now Nintendo's getting away with their BS. The Wii U should've made them rethink their business plan but they just decided to shill harder to normalniggers and go whaling with internet fees instead.

It was pretty fun looking back on it. I don't know if I'd call it Dreamcast two, but it had some really good games on it. I hear a lot about the censorship for X and #fe, but both of those were abominations on their own without NoA's bullshit.

To an extent it's actually better than the switch (especially since it has a matured library). My main issue is they lock 50% of the games and features behind the tablet. And in MANY cases, you'll find that the tablet costs more than the console itself. Luckily I got a bundle for $70, didn't regret it.

Nintendo is wanting to bury it hard because of poor sales, but poor sales doesn't necessarily mean it was a bad system. The marketing was absolute garbage, and I firmly believe if Nintendo gave the system a better name and actually marketed the damn thing, it would have been at least twice as successful as it was.

not a lot, but it was outclassed by the PS4 by 2016 which had a much brighter future than the wii U which after splatoon pretty much saw squat worth playing.

I don't really keep track of what's been ported to the switch, I haven't got one, but there's quite a few games I enjoyed on the Wii U, even ones I didn't think I would like Captain Toad. The Wonderful 101 remains a tremendous action game.

It was pretty alright. Unfortunately they took too long to make a mainline Nintendo blockbuster (Mario/Zelda/Metroid) so they just fucked off to the Switch anyway. And very few games made good use of the tablet, of course. Plus, 80% of it's notable library is now made useless by Switch ports.

tbh I think name confusion was the sole cause of it's lack of interest by consumers. I knew people who even owning a Switch still thought the Wii U was an addon for the original Wii.

The wii u was a good concept, but it had two major flaws.

First the fucksticks decided to call it wii u instead of a different name. When it was first announced I thought it was a peripheral for the wii. To this day there are still people who don't know the difference between the wii and the wii u.

Nintendo fucked over developers and nobody worth a damn wanted to develop games with the restrictiveness that nintendo imposed on them. They wanted to be more restrictive to prevent the console from becoming a shovel-ware repository. Unfortunately, by doing this they shot themselves on the foot at the start of the race. The console was doomed before launch. The entire company knew it, but they were too afraid to speak up and against Miyamoto. Sure the dude is one of the reasons the company is so successful, but that dude is getting old, out of touch, and is going mad.

Earlier revisions of the Wii hardware had visual artifacts when using component. I own one that produces them. Also, visual quality and response times will be shit if you do not setup/calibrate your display.

What were this impositions Nintendo gave developers? they even supposedly gave free reign to third parties to fill the launch window with their titles, allegadly to give them a jumpstart so they couldn't cry about how only Nintendo games sell on Nintendo consoles, but maybe having yet another "New" Super Mario and Nintendoland as the only "strong" launch titles was a mistake.

I have a question about wiiu hack, you have to buy a legit ds game to start the hack, is this safe to do since you're using a credit card on a random server, it sounds sketchy to me.

The ds game bit for the Wii U hack isn't necessary, but if you do it with the mocha CFW method you'll have to browser exploit everytime you turn on the wii u. Which is a pain in the ass if you have the lastest software update of wii u, since it will crash (but not brick) the wii u to load it a lot. The DS method ideally you only have to do the browser exploit once. If you're that worried that some soyboy at NoA will try to fuck you over for loving tiddies or something just buy a nintendo points card with cash.

It wasn't just a terrible name, they did nothing to really make the name look "new" or "evolved" from the Wii logo. No changes to the font to make it look more aggressive/next edge, the "blue U" logo being formed from negative space (and looking like a finger touching a screen) while clever on paper was too small and not obvious enough to the average consumer.

The worst part was it wasn't a short timeframe to not fix it, they had TWO fucking E3's before launch and there was still name confusion. And this was after the initial confusion of the name of the 3DS when it launched, which Nintendo said would never happen (name confusion) ever again.

In hindsight launching with NSMBU must have seemed like a good idea, as its predecessor NSMB Wii sold 10.5 million in two months (supposedly making it the fastest selling single-system game in history). As of March 2018, NSMB Wii has sold 30.20 million copies worldwide while NSMBU sold 5.77 million.

Yet when NSMBU launched it just caused confusion with visual similarity to NSMB Wii (and the game did hardly anything with Gamepad), Nintendo should have shifted it's dev resources to work on Super Mario 3D World for launch instead. A 3D Mario platformer with co-op (as different characters with different stats) would have look way more appealing (and innovative) for a new console launch compared to "another" Mario sidescroller (and this was the same year NSMB2 was released on the 3DS making it the fourth "New" Mario series game.
