Stealth as a genre is pretty much dead for starters. Then you have devs not wanting to take the risk of doing a stealth MP game and then finally a lot of devs skillfully unable to do a stealth MP game. You'd have to get a bit creative to make it long lasting fun as well. Shooting dudes doesn't really get too boring but stealth is a lot easier to fall into "been there, done that" territory and people dropping out.

Summary: Moment of Truth is a sequel to the popular stealth action title Death to Spies. The game's main character is Semion Strogov, a captain in the 4th department of the Soviet counterintelligence service called SMERSH. SMERSH literally means in Russian, Death to Spies, which was the name for a set of counterintelligence departments in the Soviet Army formed during World War II. Strogov is back from his previous missions and must now participate in a series of even more complicated and exciting military operations under the code name "Death to Spies: Moment of Truth". The hero possesses all the skills required to accomplish especially dangerous missions including, getting information about the disposition of hostile military and civil units, assassination of enemy agents and representatives of Wehrmacht’s high-ranking officers and espionage. By the order of his supreme commander Strogov, who passed through a serious retraining, will have to accomplish various top secret missions. His task is to capture spies, saboteurs and gather information about their actions using unique technologies and devices.

you need to use lower velocity amunition to have sufficient sound suppression (normally below speed of sound).Your rounds have a much lower energy than before. So yes, you need to have worse ballistic performance in order to make a suppressor worthwhile.

Then subsonic rounds should have lower velocity and penetration, but not less damage. Suppressors have nothing to do with the bullet's ballistics. Or actually they do, they increase the round's velocity by roughly 10 to 20 feet per second.

You sacrifice range, accuracy and penetration in favor of stealth, rather than simply doing less damage. Unless you want your stealth game to be casual trash with no realistic ballistics and wound system :^)

Yeah, I remember that mode. I can't remember how many players it had, but I do remember that the player who got to play as Snake had every skill equipped at once and that the skills were all maxed out. So he choked out players really quickly, had really steady aim and performed CQC moves much more quickly, among other things.

I thought the way they handled his camo meter online was also pretty clever, iirc the higher it was the more transparent Snake's character model was (and vice versa).

Stealth requires reliability to be fun.

In SP this is easy because AIs have standardized abilities. You can figure out exactly how far you can be spotted, how fast you can move without making sound, and so on.

In MP this doesn't exist. One player might not hear shit and can't see you unless you are right in front of them, another might spot you from 500 feet away if 1"x1" of you is exposed.

Forgot to add: The only way around this for MP is to flat out hide players from normal vision that the game decides are too far/well concealed to be seen. This is what World of Tanks does, and it's really shitty to play with, because no one likes being handicapped. Plus marking enemy made the whole camo and sneaking thing useless. We only needed one faggot who did his job fine with scanning the whole map and we won.
