What are the best Tetris games? Also, what are your opinions on this? Will Soyny find a way to poz it somehow?

TGM3

SRS a shit

2f74a9  No.15433222

Since it's by the guy behind Rez I think it'll be a very fun Tetris. TGM3 is still the ultimate.

TGM is the best one, that video is bullshit though, they treat it as something mystical when its just the same game but with a crappy twist, i also wonder how that guy being a tetris player couldnt show any skill at the game, did he even try? i don't claim he doesn;t know the game but he just didn't give a shit and maybe the game didn't look its best thanks to that, here is a video of the Tetris autist for comparison.

He's a classic tetris player, not a guideline tetris player!

5a1a47  No.15433470

I still prefer the NES version, the game makes more sense to me without instant drops, holding, or ghost pieces. I don't nearly have the technical ability of one of the masters of the later versions, though

>>15433222

It seems like it's just going to be Tetris with a visualizer. They should really be selling it on that angle instead of trying to get people excited about scoring a decahexatris, like that's somehow cooler than Mizuguchi's perspective on synesthetic gaming

20th anniversary is a good start if you can read jap, it introduces you to all the characters. PPT is okay if you can't read jap or if you absolutely cannot play the game to save your life, it can ease you in a little better. Sun is good if you really really fucking hate the new artstyle, it looks like a more comfy classic anime. I think you can turn off the sun gimmick in the options, don't quote me on that though. You could also try Tsu if you just want a raw score attack experience, it features a pretty neat level system but visually it's pretty lacking compared to the other games.

Either Chronicle or 20th just based on raw content. They have the most gameplay modes and the longest story modes, it's a question of whether you prefer actually playing all those different gameplay modes in 20th or if you'd rather have Chronicle's RPG story mode. Sun is definitely a contender though because it has the most heart and is the peak of the Compile games.

OP, it sounds like you're shilling a shit game with that video, but i'm going to try to salvage the thread.

>Tetris guideline games (non-exhaustive)

<Tetris Friends

reasonably fast. play on expert or expert+ rooms or you get biased, shit garbage distribution. there was a trick with the URL to skip grinding/paying for tuning, but I think it only works if you play in expert+ rooms

<Puyo Puyo Tetris

slow. tetris has 7 frame appearance delay. have to deal with puyo scrubs. swap is rather fun tho.

<Tetris Online Poland (TOJ private server)

fast as fuck. removes pay-to-win gacha kikery from original. all tuning for free. there are tools to fine-tune your DAS and ARR. full of asians ready to rape your face

<jstris, tetr.js

fast and customizable. runs in browser so no download required

jstris has both single player multiplayer. tetr.js is single-player only

<Nullpomino

excellent, super complete clone. has all rotation systems you can imagine. From SRS and TGM, to NES, DTET, and others. skinnable, super customizable. can disable gravity, use save states, play invisible, set piece sequences. even has Dr. Mario and Puyo Puyo modes with square blocks tho. features online with customizable rooms (garbage distribution, all spins, etc.). much more complete than any retail Tetris iteration

>single-player

<Sega Tetris

fun for casual play. has step-reset lock delay (lock delay resets every time piece descends) similar rotation system to TGM, except no wall kicks

<Tetris with Cardcaptor Sakura

fun puzzly-er than usual Tetris game. inspired sakura mode in TGM series

<TGM series

most challenging single-player tetris

>other

<Magical Tetris Challenge

underrated game with unusual garbage system consisting in flooding opponents with polyminoes (pentominos hexominos, etc.) to force mistakes

<Tetris Battle Gaiden

tetris with super attacks. some are plain broken

<Cultris II

unique attack system. focuses on frequent line clears (may be non-consecutive) to build combos and stack garbage

<Quadra

multiplayer cascade tetris with own rotation system. no idea whether multiplayer is still alive

etc.

>>15433176

TGM has solid VS, but people are very used to SRS, t-spins, all-clears, and 4-wides. It's basically a completely different mode.

>>15433470

I always hated NES/GB Tetris because 1 preview + slow DAS + no lock delay means you're pretty much dead if you cross half the screen.

>>15434569

20th is considered the best. it has a fuckton of modes, a great tutorial (even if you can't read jap you can still play it), challenges, a rewindable practice mode, even a chain builder. you'll want to stick to tsuu's and fever's rules though. SUN is not liked very much because when you offset, sun puyo may block your chain's trigger.

No love for the Atari/Tengen version? The soundtrack is really good.

f6fa89  No.15437421

>>15437008

>I can see were you need that nip knowledge a bit

it's not that much. hit one player (green button), free battle, puyo puyo tsuu (or fever), hit ok (or adjust options), select characters

>how's puyo puyo tetris on the switch

PPT has been localized. Switch ver is single language, whereas PC has both audio tracks and Dejewvo. If you get the nip version, you only need to press main menu, dream arcade one person, VS, One play (or endless battle).

Puyo controls the same as recent entries in the series, but it barely has any modes. Multiplayer only has Tsuu rule (pair pieces only, no continuous offset). All the goodies from 20th (chain builder, rewindable practice, etc.) are absent. Single player modes are limited and consist of endless with tsuu rule, endless chibi puyo with fever dropset, and endless fever (useless given this game has proper no multiplayer fever rule). Tutorials are very lackluster.

Tetris is a bit on the slow side (~1s line clear, was nerfed with 7 added frames of ARE), but is still leagues faster than the absolute garbage that Tetris Ultimate is. Single player Tetris has Marathon, 40L, and Ultra.

Then there's the gimmick modes: swap, fusion (aka puyo-tet mix), big bang, and party. swap alternates between both games, balanced for the most part. puyo-tet mix is hilariously abusable, in that you can rack up insane chains by continuing to clear pieces. big bang is non-interactive, boring and repetitive for tetris, whereas puyo can extend preset chains and whoop tetris's ass. party mode is identical to VS, except you get random item drops that can screw your opponent over (e.g. lock rotation, reflect attacks, freeze pieces) and you (item spawn blocks off t-spin hole or puyo chain trigger).

Tetris AI is quite shitty as expected from a TTC-approved game: it can't use spins, react to spikes, or downstack defensively. Puyo AI is quite good and can reach up to 8 chains depending on character, even more if you play against Core AI (hold L in Switch controller while selecting bots), which will allow you to train until you become somewhat decent.

Most of the girl voices are shit but other than the line "workshop those adjectives" the localization is pretty alright. I appreciate how much fun the team had with rape jokes.

Is that clip from Puyo Puyo Tetris? I don't remember anything like that from the Switch version.

ff1e35  No.15437780

>>15437662

Most of those are "new". Schezo's gimmick is that he says a thing a lot in old jap that sounds sexual now, so most of these jokes had to be adlibbed as it doesn't transition well.

>>15437735

Most of these are from the bonus chapters. If you go back into adventure mode after getting the end credits you get 3 extra chapters.
