Tonight I've been playing Panzer Bandit on PS1, a game I never even heard of, and it's really fucking fun. Let's you choose which of the 4 initial bosses/stages to tackle first then has a welcome ramp-up in difficulty after those. The game's in nip so I'm not quite sure how far along I am in the story mode but I assume I was somewhat near the end since I got to a point where it was a sort of boss-rush of the 4 initial bosses that you have to fight one after another. Can't wait to git gud and play it again; it's been a while since I've played an arcade-style game that's made me want to get through it entirely without losing any lives.

In any case, I've realized that I really enjoy sidescrolling beat-em-ups and I'm also woefully uninformed on some of the better, maybe more obscure ones. So, general sidescrolling beat-em-up thread I guess. I'm looking for more that either I can emulate or pirate for PC easily enough.

>favorite beat-em-up?

>which ones have you gotten through without a game over?

>general recommendations?

this game should've been on the saturn, it looks like it would've been perfect for it

Didn't know that, might try that out too, see which version is better. That is if there's any difference between the new release and the original arcade version.

Rerelease has more content and the port has some fixable issues, outside of that I really don't know much.

If you could be bothered to document your findings I'd highly appreciate it.

Die Hard Arcade on the Saturn and Dynamite Cop on the Dreamcast are fantastic.

River City: Rival Showdown has a pretty neat twist with how you're timed, even with recovering health at various areas and during certain events, so you have to learn how to play fast and good if you wanna see and unlock everything. I'd also call it free-roaming but I'm not exactly sure if that's a good term for it. Easily emulated on

Citra too.

Thoughts on Turtles in Time? I sadly never got to play that game but I plan on it some day

Mother Russia Bleeds is also top tier in animated violence but unfortunately it's story is written by a Marxist cuck.

Highly recommended pirate.

Phantom Breaker Battlegrounds is pretty fun and it has a native PC port. I also recommend Captain Commando.

I'd also recommend Scott Pilgrim vs The World, I believe it's one of the few PS3 games that actually emulates well and is pretty fun to boot, even if it's based off of a hipster love comic

Well I just beat Panzer Bandit with this badass robot bastard right here. Holy fuck is this game good. I was too much of a shitter to be able to 1cc it but I'm definitely going back to it to try beating it with the other 3 characters.
