With the rise or continuance of walking simulators, (((SJW STORNK WOMEN))) themed games, shitty business practices, I find myself less and less hopeful and excited for games I should be excited for (EX: Death Stranding) and more cynical of companies I really liked like Nintendo.

I agree with you, I've felt that way since about 2015, mainly because of Nintendo's constant screw-ups around that time. I remember being excited for a wii u when they were first unveiled, but it never ended up having anything I desperately wanted, games ended up either delayed or censored and it really bummed me out. Nowadays there are a select few recent PC and 3DS releases but generally nothing new interests me.
I still have a lot of fun with some older releases though, PC has tons of great titles from 10+ years ago I've never even tried, and I've been having fun with a CFW'd PS3 I purchased fairly recently as well.

It might be time to look into making your own games with your free time if you want new games you want to play. I'm at the point to where I no longer expect anything I want to play to be made unless I make it myself. I'm just not into big budget triple A cinematic games. Nintendo is also really pushing it.

I love Nintendo's (generally older) games myself, but how could you not have seen the writing on the wall? I've mostly been pirate-only long before the recent shit that's been going on. I've only bought DRM-free or console games second hand or indie too, so no shekels from me for the megacorps. And I pirate first always, and check if they're leftists first too. There's no escape from the kikery, even in the best of companies, even in nipland. There is only waiting for the crash and pirating any good games that managed to slip through untainted by anti-consumer practices, low effort cashgrabbing, leftist propaganda, bad localizations, etc. Just don't buy or look forward to new games, man. If something good comes out, you'll hear about it and it'll be good for you. If more shit comes out, you don't have to consume it or care, it's the default. Laugh at their fuck-ups, bully any faggots that buy into it, and move on while you wait for the sweet revenge that is the crash or the day of the rope, whichever comes first. There's a huge amount of old games that are still good that you've never played before. More than enough to tide you over. I see no reason to care about the "industry" as a whole or where it's heading, beyond hoping the crash will come sooner. All I want is games new to me, not necessarily (((modern))).

Even when i'm interested in a current gen game i don't feel like they are worth the 20$ bargain bin price let alone 60$.
Looking at the last two years of releases i really don't feel like i've missed anything by not buying any games in a long time. I do however look forward to more consumers fighting with/flinging shit devs & publishers over the cancer known as social media.

Can't say if the industry will get any better since this cancer could sustain itself for a very long amount of time but events like emuparadise shutting down finally made me start downloading all kinds of old console & handheld games and now I've stacked up enough to never worry about running out of vidya for the next few lifetimes. We've built up so much content over the years that there's little reason to worry about upcoming games if there even are any worth your time

I realized a long time ago commercial vidya would never be anything more than a disappointment. Even the best games made recently (eg: automata) are still very disappointing for a lot of reasons even when they're not riddled with AIDS. I've put a lot more time in to making my own games.

This year looks like it's going to be another boring year with neither good games or saltmines, and a lot of shit is already getting delayed to 2019. It's so bad i can't even be that hopeful for Red Dead Redemption 2.

This is due to corporatism which thankfully is dying because of how risky AAA games are to make and market. Of all big pubs EA is the one most likely to survive in the next decade. Ironically it's because they've scaled back on making games. With more platforms supporting direct publishing you'll start to see more of the higher quality indie and AA games you're beginning to see now. Even more if independent devs stop being dumb and learn how to do basic math with their money.

Personally, I just finally started to commit and play my backlog games and am having some genuine fun. We aren’t the audience for new games and the audience devs are going for practically doesn’t exist so there isn’t really a need to get upset by them. I’ll point and laugh at them with you guys, but I don’t get upset any more.
That being said I actually think a few games coming out this year and some next look pretty great, but if they aren’t I’ve got so many good games to play I’ll probably never be able to play and beat them all in my life time.

Nah not really, aside from the cynicism that naturally comes as you grow older. There's still a good few games coming out that I'm pretty hype for, like AC7, and other games that I've tried out and enjoyed, Like Gravity Rush.

I definitely think that a lot of the complaining here is just looking for stuff to hate, but in general the games industry has always been too positive towards mediocrity, just like any other form of mass media. You've just gotta know what you want and sift through the bullshit to find it. If you can't find it, find others who want the same thing and show that there's a market for such a product. If you can't be bothered to do that then you don't deserve what you want.

Overall I still haven't really lost my optimism. Maybe it's just the overview effect from traveling so much around the world, but there's just so much joy everywhere that I can't help but be optimistic.
