Not sure if you guys saw this, but apparently it was confirmed that DMC5 takes after the shitshow that was DMC2. Not sure what happens to Lucia, although after playing DMC2 I don't think I even want to remember the game. That said I'm interested in Nero's air ability with the Gerbera, although taking damage while using seems a bit concerning. Additionally we should see some Dante gameplay in TGS, so let's hope he's as good as he was in DMC4.

Also that guy gave us a pic of the title screen, I can't find it again but it had both a photo mode option and more interestingly network settings. I wonder exactly what they will be doing with network functionality in this game. I can't really see a co-op DMC working but Capcom heavily shills for their devs to put it in every game wherever possible. It could be a good way to use secondary characters like Lady or Trish who probably aren't getting their own story missions.

DMC2, while shit, introduced a lot of things that would later become some of the best parts of the DMC games, such as the dodging that would later become trickster style, and the different playable characters.
DmC had a lot of dynamic bullshit like an announcer yelling your style rank, and while the character designs were ugly, I actually did like the gross-ass designs for the demons that we seem to be getting here. Plus there was the definitive edition that introduced new modes like Must Style, and they even took Vergil's moveset from the reboot and put it on DMC4SE Vergil.

- Picking up my arms every time.
- Too much space, almost DMC2 levels of claustrophobia (which is none at all.)

It's absolutely after 1. And furthermore Vergil's DMC4 campaign is set before DMC3 which makes it the earliest scenario in the timeline. Nero's birth was probably about 9 months after Vergil's story ends. It's not clear how big of a gap there is between Vergil in 4 and DMC3 but I doubt it's a long one given that we know Dante is in his late teens/early 20s in 3 and Vergil is his twin brother, I think it's fair to say, and would be fitting if Nero was born around the time of the events of DMC3, or just before.
Nero's in his mid to late teens in 4 I think which implies about 16 years between DMC3 and DMC4. If Dante was in his late teens/early 20s in 3 this puts him in his early to mid 30s in 4 which is about right. Patti is on the cusp of pubescence during the anime, which happens right after 1, so a few years before 4. Patti is probably about the same age as Nero, which judging by how he looks in 5 is probably mid to late 20s, which puts Dante in his 40s. Lady was younger than Dante in 3 IIRC, only by a few years so she's probably late 30s early 40s.

Nah, I went through the game yesterday as Dante on pure keyboard, my right index finger is still fucking killing me from the infested chopper fight. People were right, it's actually one of the worst games I've ever played, certainly the worst I've ever played made by a major studio, and I don't know how it even managed to pull off 'mixed' reviews.
When I killed the first phase I thought wow what were people complaining about, it's a dumb fight but it was quick. That was actually my only death in the playthrough.

He says "I'm taking this back", it's pretty clear that he owned it before, and the only people we know of who owned Yamato before are Sparda, Vergil and Agnus. Unless Sparda just copped Yamato off of some other demon before using it to seal off the demon realm. We have no confirmation about Vergil at all, he's usually a SE character if he's playable, but I think that here Itsuno's probably puilling out all of the stops and that would definitely include Vergil being playable.
Kaiju Kang Dante leak got some stuff right but it's possible that it's not fully correct or omitted details about Vergil's role. There's another leak that has spread around a lot talking about each MC having a 10 mission story and there being a final "end" story that features Vergil in some way.

The idea is Urizen is Vergil, that Vergil took Nero's arm to get Yamato back and start to gain more power to become the King of Hell, turning into Urizen in the process.
During the gameplay section in the leak we don't see any semblance of Vergil in his moveset, so maybe what V said isn't correct.
Some people speculate that V is pulling a Jester.
Vergil might just be trying to take Urizen out in his own way, I mean cutting your son's arm is brutal, but I don't even think he realized who Nero was.

Dialogue has always been cheesy so that's not issue per se though here, Nico seems absolutely insufferable and the bit Dante calling Nero "dead weight" and then Nero having his fee fees hurt over it seemed odd if you think about their interactions in DMC4 where Dante was always riling Nero up who, in turn, flipped him the bird when it seemed Sanctus had won.

According to Pachinko-canon Vergil is aware of Nero's existence in some way. Ripping his arm off could just be his own form of tough love, ie "Don't get yourself involved with this shit let daddy handle the big boy demons"
Vergil's entire thing is gaining power to protect the ones he loves at any cost. It's entirely possible that he could be corrupted in the pursuit of power and fully lose his humanity, but it's also possible that he's doing it from some self sacrificial angle.
Also Nero's a punk character, they keep reiterating that DMC's always been, from Itsuno's perspective, a chuuni franchise. Dante is 1980s cool, Nero is 1990s cool, V is probably supposed to be 2000s cool. Stuff is shared between them but they all have subtle differences that can be seen in general demographics. Dante does a lot of the cheesy 80s action flick stuff, Nero's always been a potty mouth like edgier 90s movie characters, don't know much about V but the tats alone make him seem like a character out of the 2000s.

This seems plausible. You could go through most of Dante's story without Rebellion, only to get it back in a big dramatic moment late in the game. Considering the emphasis the trailers have on the motorcycle chainsaws, I'd wager those are Dante's main Devil Arm throughout most of the game. But since the artwork they use to promote the game shows him with the Rebellion, it's most likely usable at some point at least.

I think Capcom struck the perfect balance of realism and fantasy with DMC4 and RE5. The character models are realistic enough, and most importantly they actually look like action heroes/villains.
Both Nero and V look too ordinary, especially for a game as stylized as DMC. Maybe they saw nu-Star Wars and thought those actors are how fantastical characters look these days, but I'd argue those actors also look too ordinary for their roles.
