Normal (aka Klondike) solitaire is complete bullshit where hidden information makes it so that you can only reasonably win 10-20% of games. There's hardly any strategy. It's like playing blackjack where you can only win on a 21.
Spider solitaire is more fun as a game, but you can still be fucked over by random draws to the point where it's just painful. The win rate for four suits is 30-40% for a very experienced player.
Freecell solitaire is winnable with 99.9% of hands and has perfect information with no random factors past the initial tableau. It's the game for true patricians.

Computer solitaire games will give you unwinnable hands, and with Klondike and Spider solitaire you can easily make a winnable game unwinnable through logical play – the equivalent of standing on an 18 when the next card is a 3.
