Have you tried dusting it out with compressed air? Use short bursts, don't let the fan free spin quickly, or you could damage the bearings. In fact the fan bearings might already be failing, who knows.

What sound does it make exactly?

You shouldn't let the fan move at all when cleaning it with compressed air. And might as well replace the fan entirely.

Even if the disc drive is failling you can still install a HDD in there so it'll still be good.

Take it apart and clean it. Replace the thermal paste. And use the disc drive as sparingly as possible, use SMB or HDD instead

looks fine, but only a handful of PS2 games really output at that one, and not even all of them render at it. ps2 is mostly 480i with a handful of 480p games.

not as easily, probably not really worth it if you have a slim. just do network loading.
