I played in an all Dwarf role-playing guild in vanilla. It was pretty fun. Every weekend we would meet in the Military Ward and tell Dwarfly stories about our adventures through the week. Guild chat was completely out of character because no one has time for that [ooc] shit. But party and /say were in character at all times. Shit was great. At the end of the meeting the person with the best dwarf story would win 10 gold and a stack of alcohol.

I used to RP on Lotro (because all in all it was decent quality and the lorefags weren't too autistic). People were happy just staying in character, doing their little events around the game world (which even at the time I played it, the game map was fucking massive) while also enjoying the game for what it was. I stopped caring for the roleplay aspect as soon as everyone started using Discord to organize their events.

But I stayed around because I had friends and we would just shitpost occasionally and continue what we had left until it concluded naturally.

Then the subversion happened, like every community no matter how big or small, how popular or obscure, it will eventually come to the point where normalfaggotry and SJW tier shitstains come prancing in pretending to be the gaymer gurrl and the hip, trendy 'cool nerd'.

Half of these people never even read the book and less than half of them even knew what they were doing in regards to roleplay or lore. They would make up shit on the spot while pandering to their agendas of 'diversity' (this becomes important later on). After several months hiatus I come back to see the RP community (which was originally smallish and tightknit) become this drama infested shithole with easily offended transexuals and ERPfags. Everyone played their characters as if they were some fucking special snowflake warrior or thot from Game of Thrones.

I watched as how the thing I used to enjoy and have fond memories of become twisted, a morbid and soulless form of life devoid of all hope of redemption. I watched as how the numbers of that old ass game dwindled further (which was to be expected tbh) and whatever was left of the community turned to Discord as their last ignorant coping strategy, lying to themselves as they thought in their folly that their little piece of community would live on in an ever dying game…

Granted the tale would stop there if it was not for the mere fact that despite this little game and its even smaller RP community, drama seemed emerged every other day. It almost felt like the very thing keeping it all alive was the fact that some of the oldfags could sit down together and watch the world burn as battle bonded brothers. We came to the conclusion that we could not do much to save what we had built from the ground up. The thing about Discord is that the owner of the server can just get rid of anyone they want, and who were the ones shilling for Discord? The SJWs, the trannies, the people who had no place in a lore and universe crafted by Tolkein. This wasn't some generic fantasy setting where they could prance around and be fairyfaggots, Bree wasn't a multicultural paradise where Haradrim could date Rohirric women (that actually happened), Gondor wasn't a modern metrosexual tranny paradise… The list goes on.

So I see this thread and it reminds me of the shit that happened to Lotro. We eventually drove out two notorious dramatic trannies by simply calling them out on their bullshit, these were the sort of people that bullied others into submission, if you didn't like their gay ERP in the Prancing Pony (a sight I wish to unsee forever) you're homophobic and deserve quiet time with a ban on our safe space discord server. If you oppose to a near game breaking split in the community because one stuck up bitch had a melt down over 'racism in the community' (because Breelanders and hobbits weren't welcoming of a swarm of Haradrim immigrants) then you're literally the Nazi party… There was simply one too many instances of this sort of shit… Literal cuckolds and bored single mothers (who only played the game to ERP) infested the RP community until it was engulfed in their own shitstorms.

However, as far as MMO games go, Lotro has always been pretty mundane, because it's one of those games that takes a slight bit of dedication to get past the outdated and pretty boring starter zones most normalfags leave it well alone because there's hundreds of games out there that is simply better. You can bully me all you want for being a RPfag but it was a way we could enjoy ourselves without being harassed by the hall monitors of the internet, the SJWs who subvert and turn things into shit. It was one of those games that was actually very reluctant to turn into the hippy rainbow faggot community that it essentially is now. Even then, I would wager that WoW has had it worse over the years despite the fact that lotro went free to play much earlier. So I still hold to my belief that lotro had a great community back in its hay day but I'll never find such a thing in the current year, I'll never live those comfy days again.

I'm sure the discord servers are still in use even to this day, I'm sure the same trannies, cucks and lesbians are still raping bakers and getting sodomized by bears, I'm sure they're still sitting in their little echochambers and hugboxes and literally shaking when they come across a character who is remotely traditional in their actions. I'm sure there's a fucking gold mine ready to harvest and the foundations of their fragile minds are close to cracking… But frankly I don't care to check it now. It's dead, we had a good run.

You can bully me all you want for being a RP fag but essentially we took lore into account, it was a passtime, a hobby and we treated it as such. We would take time and effort to construct lore friendly and well written emotes, plotlines and all that shit but we also had lives too outside of the game.

I and the people I played with have decent jobs and a social life outside the game, one of my friends even found his future wife with the little group of friends we built up (though I can't attest to how successful that was, I'm not in contact with him anymore, you judge it for yourself lol)

Maybe because all in all RP and MMOs for that matter isn't a thing that should drag you so deeply that you become obsessed with it, this is what the cucks that killed the game did… They became obsessed and it consumed them. They then took everything too seriously and ruined it for everyone else.

Depends on what you want to get yourself into, I think. On Emerald Dream I've come across some here and there, but I don't actively look for it. Though, the other week, there was a group of orcs inside Orgrimmar that took turns brutalizing one of them acting as an effigy of Gul'dan. Acts ranging from inflicting grievous wounds, setting on fire, pissing on said player, to even cutting his dick and balls off. All of them were of the same guild. Oh, and they apparently eat babies.

I really don't get involved with any RP groups or activities, here, and try not to. So far as I care, I'm nothing more than a hired horde mercenary. Coin and the thrill are about the only things I am concerned with.

I have no idea why they introduced this most recent patch in WoW that made everything in the game scale to your level. What an awful, awful decision. That along with the buff to HP have made leveling excruciatingly boring.

I've recently played my own personal 3.3.5 private server to death and am now looking for a retail MMO experience to try again. I tried GW2 and I did not like it. What would you recommend for a fan of old-to-mid-school WoW? I have heard good things about Guild Wars 1, is that what I should go for?

They rolled out Legion's level scaling to all older content as >>15367176 said. The only confusing part to a returning player would be that a couple pairs of expansions were essentially combined into the same level ranges, BC and Wrath in the 60-80 range, and Cata and Mists in the 80-90 range. This gives the benefit of not having to level through the same shit every time (so long, Hellfire Peninsula), but it can be disorienting to a returnign player. Although I don't see why Stonecore would have level 98s in it, since even heroic should only have 93 at most.

Only health scales, not mob damage, and (supposedly) slower than your damage increases. It's only meant to prevent you from going around one-shotting everything later in the expansion, which can be frustrating for others who are doing world quests, for instance. Whether Blizzard fucked up the scaling at some point is a whole other matter; see the recent debacle where basically everything from the 60-80 range had far too much health.

The item level scaling I'm talking about is at max level. Obviously mobs that are higher level than you are gonna tear you to shreds.

Although I'm still not sure why or how you ran into level 93+ enemies in Stonecore. I just went in on my max-level character, and normal only had level 91 enemies at most. A group of those would be tough on a level 92 character, so I can understand why you were having problems there. But you're also correct that heroic only had level 85 enemies, I checked that as well. It's still easy enough to solo once you outlevel it, it's just the scaling means that some dungeons require considerably more levels to do so than before, while others are less affected since they were already at the high end of their level range.
