Today I played an FPS where the combat was so awful that I ended up running past everything, trying to conserve ammo and taking as little damage as possible. This ended up being a lot more fun than dealing with the shitty combat, and it got me wondering if there's any games (specifically FPSes) built around this same idea of running and gunning. Are there any good games like this? From what I understand, Mirror's Edge is kind of like this, but I've never played it so I can't say for certain.

How so? Most older FPSes are more about survival than killing everything, and what I'm describing would essentially be just cranking that aspect up while also being much faster-paced.

Mirror's Edge had many issues unfortunately.

I can't think of any FPS games that fit the bill unless you count Doom and Quake on Nightmare mode. I will say that Dead Cells fits a similar role for combat-platformers. On higher difficulties, the best option is generally to only fight the weaker enemies, or enemies you can push off cliffs. Basically kill just enough enemies to keep your speed boost combo up and avoid all the rest.

That's the gist of many any% speedruns. Kill only the enemies in the path, get just enough ammo, go fast. It's a fun challenge, just don't go for records. That way only autism lies.

Halo, once you try the LASO challenges in the xbone compilation you realize just how much more easy and fun it is to run, glitch and parkour your way through the level than playing the way it's intended.
