Trails appeals to people who enjoy or are at least willing to tolerate a slow burn. This is a series where an entire game can be devoted to setup all in the service that it makes the payoffs that much better. However, if the pace bothers you I'm not sure how you'll feel about the series at large. I'd say FC overall is the slowest game in the series, but there's no doubt the pace isn't always at 100% in the other games either. These are very long games with giant plot spanning countries and hundreds of characters. It's a story that rewards an autistic appreciation for detail. Not everyone is going to have the patience for that, nor would I expect them to.

In TitS FC Estelle is 16 and since we don't know how long their adventure in 1 is, she could still be 16 by the end of SC or close to 17.

In Third she's most definitely 17 and Zero takes place around 6 months after the events of Third. I seem to remember they mention that she is the same age as Lloyd who is 18 in Zero.

The Legend of Heroes series or the Trails series specifically? Because there have been Legend of Heroes games before Trails in entirely different continuities, such as the Gagharv trilogy. It's a legacy title, like Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest. The Trails games (which have been going since Trails in the Sky) are all in the same continuity and tell a giant overarching story.

In the case of Trails specifically, Trails in the Sky FC, SC and 3rd have all been officially localized. The Crossbell arc (which goes between the two, though it largely takes place concurrently with Cold Steel 1 and 2), Trails From Zero and Trails to Azure, has not been officially localized but there are fan translations for both games, though they're a little rough. Framerate hits the teens in Castaway Village later on in the game and hits mid to low 20s during actual gameplay. Overclocking helps, but there are still framedrops and it eats battery life if you're not on PSTV. As for changes, there's a new dungeon, a new difficulty, new bosses, solo mode, Dana gameplay/style change, suppression battles, and probably more stuff I'm forgetting.

Zero saves give you a few benefits, bonding points with certain characters (including powered up combi crafts from the final bond) and you probably get a little mira and stuff. I also think if you did certain optional scenes they'll be referenced from time to time. But they never let you bring over everything. Once you get to Chapter 2 there's an extremely easy farming method where you'll never want more mira and sepith again, though.

Just watch the opening then get one of those saves.

Chapter 4 SC. I figured after the whole Renne shit and changing discs that something would start happening but nope, it's back to going through the motions. Can't wait for 3-4 hours from now when I get to beat an enforcer in a boss fight just to have them win in the cutscene. I honestly preferred FC's more grounded set up; it was just as slow but the politics was at least engaging, Ouroboros is just cliché shounen stuff; the villain that wants to take over/change the world or whatever has far less emotional weight than the villain that burns down an orphanage as part of a local government property fraud scam, at least to me it does; I really couldn't give less of a fuck if chuuni girl got diddled or if one of the edgelords had and oh so hard life, ouroboros is so ridiculous and overdone they actively bore me; they were legitimately better villains when they were offscreen and not doing anything. Keep in mind, this can be done against any monster, but this is the earliest and easiest spot. You can also do it to endgame monsters that drop all types of sepith as well.

Another problem that I have with enjoying this game is how similar it is with Last Remnant so i can't stop comparing the both of them and with Cold steel often coming as the lesser of the two i can't really enjoy it as much as i know i could. from the way the maps are layered, the way the battles are started, the way your party carries its personalities to the battlefield, the xp modifiers should effect damage output too, unskipable cutscenes, etc.

I played through Zero, it was sort of rough on parts but it was fully understandable. The only parts that annoyed me were the translation of the honorifics, because they changed it into sounding like a title, so Senior Randy, Sister Cecil, ect

I haven't dug much into Ao yet, but from what I heard its a lot smoother than Zero, since its had a lot more editing done. Sadly, they continued that shitty way of translating honorifics. I'm of the camp that even your most basic bitch redditor teenager that watches any subbed anime will already know honorifics, so there's no fucking point to translating them, but I guess the translators disagree.

It's not the end of the world, but it is kinda annoying. Also using programs like ShareX I can't seem to take screenshots and auto-save them. It's like when the window is in focus it stops other programs from hearing the keypresses.

I just finished zero no kiseki and I have to say that the powerlevels seem pretty weird. Joshua and Estelle say that Joachim under influence is stronger than Weissman fused with the Aureole. That would mean that Lloyd and company got as strong as E&J in under 6 months? And E&J both had more favorable conditions to become strong than the SSS ( training from Cassius/Society) Or am I missing something?
