Ever Oasis is a bad game and i'll tell you why.
It puts style over substance. EO is all about it's looks, as a casual title made by a major publisher such as Nintendo, it has to appeal to a large crowd to make profit. By doing this, they are copying elements from true and tried titles such as Monster Hunter or Fantasy LIfe as an afterthought to the art style. This is an extremely derivative title by the books going with its chibi artstyle that has been so popular among people with low standards (mostly handheld and mobile audiences) during the last few generations. Chibi characters aren't necessarily bad but they are bland and literally scream playing it safe. You could argue that they are using these characters due to hardware limitations but that is not the case anymore, its just casualfag bait.
The game is almost entirely composed of the worst parts of RPGs and Action RPGs as its centerfold piece, the writing is for the most part Pokemon bland and the gameplay is slow, clunky and tedious. Difficulty derives mostly from the bad controls. Its only saving grace is probably its soundtrack, which although far from original, is pretty nice on the ears.
This is just Nintendo's attempt at cashing in on that Monster Hunter-esque market that exploded during the PSP era and feels very forgettable, it doesn't have the staying force or punch of older Nintendo IPs, even obscure ones like Doshin the Giant.
