Doesn't matter what Adobe does thanks to Gnash and lightspark. As independently reverse engineered versions we'll always have a free version of Flash that will work. While progress on those projects has been very slow for the last ten years(getting developers to work on it is very difficult as anyone who has ever installed any version of Adobe's flash has agreed to not reverse engineer it) there's no question in my mind that 20 years from now it'll be what people use to open .swf files.

It was a Street Fighter Alpha clone that's easy to pick up an play. The dev's website is gone because he's currently raising a family now.

i remember, I'd once played a flash game

it was a 2D top-down shooter where it had levels and no doors, and only 1 room per level

you were a white guy and could level up and buy guns and possibly also ammo, and, iirc, you could level up your guns

it had 16 or 32 bit pixelated graphics

there were boss levels

you started out shooting the undead, then you later started killing demons, and then, iirc, the devil

iirc, enemies spawned out of thin air, and perhaps in waves, or perhaps not in waves, and you could walk around the map, and could move and shoot at the same time

Yeah, no. It's more likely that people will be running them in shitty javascript wrappers than Gnash. Personally, I'll be running them in the standalone Flash players, and anything I didn't grab myself from a trusted source will be run in a sandbox.
