I definitely agree about the story. I played through it again on NG+, it feels like the middle chapters are just filler, and it can really drag on toward the middle. Thankfully the battle system is really good once you get into it and you open up a lot of the options.

I feel like XC2 has the best battle system out of all the XC games, but one of the worst stories. And the series would be a lot better with some more sci-fi feel to it. XCX had a lot of problems localization, but it was a pretty great game. I'd love to see a new Xenoblade X that was open world, non-linear, sci-fi, mechs, but still had XC2's battle system.

XCX had a pretty bad story too, but they did a really good job of making you feel like you were just some stranded people on a new planet trying to survive.

I always felt like XC games were more about having a ton of stuff to do, and having a lot of different ways to do things. The blade system is really awesome, you get 3 characters with 3 blades each, so you basically get 9 slots to customize your load out between attack, healer, tank, and you have things to balance like elements and more. I think that may be why I liked XCX so much, it wasn't so story focused and you still had a lot of gameplay options.

XCX was cucked beyond belief by 8-4kids while Xenoblade 2's localization isn't really even that fucking bad. It's not Persona 5 good but it's not Fire Emblem Fates awful it's just ok.

I'm just waiting for the full DLC to drop before picking it up. Don't see any point in post game and plan on doing an NGP run after all the Expansions are unlocked. Nore do I want to play the asking price for a "season pass" for content that is not yet finished. Still loved Xenoblade 2. Just a shame its plot pacing was all over the place and it started out so week.

Nintendo and other modern companies oddly really seem to love drip feeding the content. Its as if they are trying to treat these single player games like MMO's.

Chapter 7 made me realize just how much Mythra/Pyra save this game, I spent that entire chapter hating the game, getting pissed off at forced field skill checks, and not even being consoled by giant tits in every cutscene.

Also the first 'twist' in 7 was blatantly obvious. Oh gee, this organization who's explicit goal is to destroy all humans just so happened to have a cute cat girl member who wasn't exempt from the kill all humans rule? I knew she was a blade from chapter 4 on.

I haven't played a Xeno game since Xenogears, but the combat in this one leaves a lot to be desired. It's one of the worst pseudo-action systems I've experienced and everything I've heard from other people indicates that it's the best Xeno games have been in ages. I'd rather go full turn based or full action than this action lite MMO style system where the only player interaction is chaining your art rotations and staying in range of your enemies when they're constantly doing stupid shit like knocking your party back then chasing them off of a cliff.

All that said the environments are excellent and I have a lot of fun just walking around the world. The story is very 90s anime, it's not good but there's something endearing about it. A lot of 'win the fight, lose in the cutscene' shit which pisses me off, I swear it's like 70% of boss fights that this happens in.

Stupid question: what's the exact sequence of button inputs for selecting a different enemy to target when you accidentally targeted some low-level wimp half a mile away instead of the much more threatening enemy currently ass-ramming you?

Don't get me wrong, the game's great, but I went into it spoiler-free, expecting common Blades with every combination of role, weapon, element and body shape. Then I noticed I kept getting the same three weapons in each role and all my beast-shaped Blades had twin rings.

Then I looked at a wiki and found out most weapons are exclusive to legendary Blades like Brighid's whip swords and Roc's twin scythes. All this time I guessed they were the tank and attacker counterparts of twin rings!

Also there's no Blade that wields a bow (I mean the weapon, as in bow and arrow, as in archery, because I know you will play dumb and point to some loli's hair decoration) so that's weird, but that's just me liking archer classes in RPGs.

Gacha system DOES suck, but it's a lot more manageable than you think. If you're nearing completion of your blade album but just can't get those last few blades, take these rules into consideration:

>First, decide on which blade you are farming, and take note of it's element

>Use those common cores you have laying around. Open them all up, and keep every blade that matches the element you are looking for, discard the rest

>When the game decides to give you a blade of element "X", it draws from that element's pool. If you dwindle the availeable common blades from that pool, you increase teh chances of getting a rare blade eventually

>After storing a shitton of commons from the element you want, you can switch to rare cores and start using boosters. Legendary cores are great and all, but personally I don't think they are worth the effort and low drop rate

>When using boosters you only need the atribute you want to be the highest by 1 point. No need to waste 10 boosters on a single stat to make it much higher than the others

Do this until drafting whatever you want.

I had this game out for a while, I finally have time to play it blindly. However I'm on a time limit on how much I can play per day (about 2 hours at most of spare time on weekdays, 6 hours on weekends). Officially they're not at all related because Square Enix owns Xenogears, Namco owns Xenosaga and Nintendo owns Xenoblade. Unofficially, Xenogears was supposed to be the fifth episode in a 6-part saga, and Xenosaga fits the early part of the Xenogears timeline. Xenogears and Xenosaga each have the Zohar, which functions exactly the same in both, as well as other core similarities such as the Wave Existence and some minor similarities and references like many of the mecha echoing Xenogears designs and Jin Uzuki's resemblance to Citan in both appearance and character. Xenoblade is its own thing which wasn't originally intended to be a Xeno game, and the story of how Earth got rekt in Xenoblade is substantially different from what's described in Xenosaga. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has the Conduit, which is Zohar-shaped and can create parallel dimensions, which may explain the discrepancies.
