Current FOTM is GROOVE COASTER
Despite already being available in arcades and on mobile for several years now, the PC release only happened around 2 days ago or something. Fun game, easy to get into but the difficulty ramps up pretty hard later on, nowhere near the hardest music game out there but definitely a good entrypoint for someone looking to get into music games.
>But how does it play on a keyboard and a landscape monitor
Surprisingly well actually, while portrait monitor would still be ideal and works best, playing in landscape is more than possible. Playing on keyboard or a pad is also decent to say the least.

We also have a repo with random useful resources, if there are some dead links for various shit then ask and someone will hopefully get on fixing it or just linking it from elsewhere.

So the way it goes is the xplorer controller that shipped with the xbox GH3 is the best overall. Best buttons and strum bar. 2nd best is the wired ps2 controllers. The wii GH controllers are ok but you deal with bluetooth. The rockband controllers are cheap and need mods to be usable. The strum bar is soft and the buttons go all the way across the front of the fret board so gripping it correctly will pinch your hand. GH controllers that are wireless are ok but the buttons on those arent the best either. These controllers used to be dirt cheap too until clone hero released and skyrocked the price of them. An xplorer used to be 20 bucks but now they go for 70. Hell my rockband controller that i got at goodwill for 3 i can sell for 30 and if i mod it around 70.

I call it 'the zone' or just concentration-mode. Think the Healing Touch from Trauma Center series.
Notably I managed to finally do a couple of "runs" (rapid sequences of steps that come quickly) in a Pump It Up song (Chimera S11). Previously, said run part was something nigh impossible for me, but I finally got it down pat, and without even entering 'concentration' mode. This usually happens more with maps that I do not know well yet, or maps that start slow, then get messy in the middle point.
Same happens with osu!. Some beatmaps with certain patterns and speed make me enter 'the zone' quickly and it usually lasts until I get a miss.

I'm probably pretty weird in that, I can't play rhythm games with songs I'm familiar with. It feels like it's trivializing music that was a big part of my life, and tied to significant (and not so significant) parts of my life and that I have emotional attachment to. I can only get into rhythm game songs that are original, but usually those are terrible - so being in a foreign language helps by turning the vocal tracks into just another musical instrument.
Also, I can't fap to porn with characters I'm familiar with from other media. They've got to be random throwaway sluts, or at least characters I'm not familiar with, otherwise it just feels weird.

He's talking shit, but cardio gives you fuckall for gains and it's not a good way to lose weight. It's just a lie we tell fatties to watch them suffer and sweat and jiggle. Also, any sort of high-impact exercise while you're fat is going to significantly increase your chance of acute injury, or long term problems. Restrict calories for weight loss, exercise for health.
Getting a good handle your BMR, TDEE, and required micro and macros. Plan your meals for maximum amount of nutrition in the least amount of calories possible. Take supplements to cover any missed deficits. Cut out snacks, and for fucks sake - don't drink your calories. I'll extend this to "health" shakes as well - because you need the fiber for good digestive health and because you need to be learning how to properly feed yourself, which you're not going to do unless you plan to live off of smoothies the rest of your life. Whatever diet plan you come up with, that's your new diet for life (plus a few extra hundred calories to bring you up to maintenance after the weightloss is over. Tweak for exercise routines - extra carbs for cardio, extra protein for weight training, etc).
Don't play videogames for weight loss, that's fucking stupid, no matter how much you work up a sweat shuffling your feet or wagglin your sticks.

>Who the fuck would pay for anti-exercise shilling? Big Pharma? Long-sighted government program?
Nobody, dumbass - do you have any idea how big the weight loss/health industry is? It has nothing to do with "Big Pharma", but everybody and their brother is trying to sell you weight loss diet plans, nutrition shakes, elaborate exercise machines, gym memberships (that they know you won't use past January), extracts and supplements, exercise clothes, fitbits and freeweights, organic/specialty foods, little light-activated piggies you put in your fridge and oink at you when you open the door. All these fucks selling fat people all this useless shit they know they'll never use. Yeah, it's not a monolith like Pharma, but it's a HUGE fucking market of individuals and smaller corporations.
It costs NOTHING to lose weight. Don't spend a dime on that shit. Just stop eating so fucking much, and start eating a normal human diet in normal human portions. That's it. You'll save a ton of cash doing that. It's not hard to figure out.
> but evidently dieting on its own does not work and people get rebound.
It does work. The problem is that people "go on diets", they don't "change their diet". Diet in the colloquial sense is just a temporary shift in eating patterns in order to lose weight. Once they reach their goal (or give up), then go back to their old eating habits, they get fat again. Big surprise. You have to make a permanent change in your habitual eating patterns - change your "diet".
A big part of the problem is that we are wired to respond to high energy foods - because our species used to live in a constant state of scarcity where you gorged yourself when you could, because it was never known where, when, or if the next meal would come… and in the mean time, you had to worry about having the energy reserve to survive the environment. So when you eat sugary and fatty foods, your brain gives you a dose of dopamine. It reinforces that behavior of gorging on sweet and fatty foods, because it's trying to prep you for a scarcity that you're really in no danger of facing… and the consequences of which your body is not at all prepared for dealing with. Eating becomes a coping mechanism for depression, anxiety, stress, and other conditions by giving you that feel-good hit of dopamine and pleasurable taste sensations. We're literally drug addicts to high-fat and high-sugar foods, and unlike heroin or meth or other drugs - you can't abstain. You HAVE to learn moderation. You HAVE to learn to eat responsibly. And to pour gasoline on the fire, the food industry is absolutely rampant in their presence and aggressive in their marketing. Always willing to sell you that hit of high-sugar, high-fat, high-salt deep fried dopamine.
Is it any wonder why there is such an obesity epidemic? Why so many people fail to lose weight? Personal responsibility, and willpower, is the ONLY way out. And that's just not the society we live in anymore. You literally have the world against you. It's a society of feels over reals, of indulgence over sacrifice, and hyper consumerism over conservation.
It's not the fault of CICO that these diets fail, and adding exercise to the mix just further stresses their already tenuous grasp on willpower.

>How can I burn the most calories?
Lift faggot, that's how. You can burn a nice chunk of calories with exercise, but it's not sustainable unless you genuinely LIKE to exercise (which you probably don't if you're fat). Lifting builds muscle, which increases your body mass - and that extra mass requires more calories to power. Rather than punctuating your BMR with extra bursts of calorie burning through significant effort - you stack a passive constant calorie burn that takes no effort beyond building and maintaining that muscle.
>>15232562
>as a man you burn around 2,5 k calories per day just by living.
No, your BMR depends on a number of different factors - namely your height, weight, gender, and age. There's any number of calculators online. A 6", 25yo, 300lb male is going to require 2,600 kcals daily just to maintain that 300lbs. A 6", 25yo, 160lb male is going to require 1,800 kcals daily to similarly achieve maintenance. That's your baseline.
Once you have your BMR, then you modify that with the average level of physical activity, relevant health conditions, and other modifiers to get your TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expendatures). Once you get your TDEE figured out, THEN you decide how much of a deficit you can run. 200~500kcal is about average for a cut, depending on how fast you want to lose weight or if you have any health/nutritional conditions that have to be met. 1~2lbs/week is optimal for general weight loss. 3,500kcals in a lb of fat.
To make it easy - just plug in your ideal weight, your goal, to your calculations. If you're fat, then just eat what you'd need to maintain your weight at your goal - you'll still lose weight, and get acclimatized to how much you SHOULD be eating.
>why do you think people who are skinny and want to get /fit/ are told to eat like beasts a crapload of fatty foods and carbs?
Yeah, because you're not wanting to short your body of the resources it needs to build muscle efficiently or else you're just wasting time. A lot of people who do that end up putting on excess fat, so you have a cycle of bulking and cutting. Build, then shed fat. Build, then shed fat. That's how you get /fit/. If you just want to get skinny, then just cut. But don't eat like you're bulking when you're trying to cut, and don't cut when you're trying to bulk.

Oh, and also - to add to that - lifting weights is idea for weight loss, because first of all it's pretty low impact so you don't have to worry about the extra stress on your joints and ligaments the way you would with many forms of cardio (if you have to do cardio, stick with swimming or cycling, or brisk walking). Secondly, and this is a bit of a dirty secret of weight loss - is that if you're over 50lbs, have been overweight most of your life, and you're over 25… your skin is fucked. You can shed the weight, but you will NEVER lose the extra skin. You'll still look decent with clothes on, but once you take them off - you'll have masses of crepe-like skin hanging off and bulging out. Especially if you have to bend over or are at an angle where the belly skin can just dangle.
If you're over 300lbs @ 6'0, there's a chance you can get it removed through surgery and your insurance will cover it. It can get pinched, or develop rashes, which is a health hazard. If you're under 300lbs… chances are it'll pose little health risk aside from getting pinched in your belt buckle and hurting like a motherfucker. Getting it removed is cosmetic surgery, and your insurance company likely won't cover it. Pay out of pocket, or live with it.
Now, it's still WAY preferable to have lose skin than it is to be fat. You'll still look much better, feel much better, and have a much higher quality of life with fewer health problems. Don't let that dissuade from losing weight. Just saying, it doesn't make it into the Jenny Craig ads because that shit doesn't sell milkshakes or Subway subs.
And this is why weight lifting, or more aptly - resistance training - is so important. By building up a good foundation of muscle - you're going to be filling in all that empty space and minimizing the appearance of lose skin while also adding definition. Unless you want to go for the skinny-fat look… you need to build muscle. Though I wouldn't really recommend it until you get within spitting distance of your weight-loss goals, again primarily because it's going to be much more productive to build muscle while you're bulking - and a diet, is essentially a cut. Ease off the diet for a while when you're close and go into a bulk/cut cycle. The fatties over on /fit/ can give you better details on that than I can here.
And don't go spending money on weight training gear. You can get all you need accomplished with just bodyweight exercises. Situps, pushups, pullups, etc. Lift shit around the house. If you're going to lift weights proper - you really should go to a reputable gym for at least a few months starting off and try to make friends with some gymbros who can show you proper form so that you're not injuring yourself or putting yourself in a position to unlearn a bunch of bad habits picked up by just winging it.
