BloodGDX:New update features multiplayer Anonymous 07/17/18 (Tue) 11:46:39 9be83e No.15166749
M210 Projects has released a new version of his Blood port to Java’s libgdx framework, BloodGDX. This new version of BloodGDX supports for the first time classic multiplayer, adds new drunk effect, packs AI flee damage sectors and adds compatibility with JRE9 and JRE10.

How accurate is this to the original? Every attempt at a Blood "source port" I've seen was either complete shit, or pretty accurate but still not worth bothering with because something always felt off.

it's good enough. the only issue is with the pre-rendered cutscenes, they don't play.

Wait I thought I remember reading it was impossible to create an OpenMW type of engine for this game and people were crying for Atari or whoever to release the source code. I'd be down to play.

More like a Doom type of engine where people have free access to the source code. Considering only one of the original developers allegedly still has the source code and Atari are greedy kikes, the best people can do is reverse engineer the game with bits and bobs from the Build Engine code. But this isn't exactly easy considering Blood runs on a heavily modified version of the Build Engine.

One thing caught my attention in the changelog:
>BloodGDX should work on JRE9 and JRE10 now
Funny because when I first tried BloodDGX a long time ago I was already using JRE9 and never had problems with it.

No, they "have" the code, but they are not legally allowed to use it. Since the game was originally distributed or published by Atari. The only way they could get it out was to agree to basically signing the rights almost away. So if anyone is to ask, its Atari.

i noticed that the 3D sound is better but there are a few small texture bugs in the walls, still it feels a little weird of how smooth it plays when i played the dosbox version for so long.

Two guys from Monolith still got source code, including Jace Hall who was a CEO of the studio at the time.
Nothing can be done officially with it because Jewtari owns all the rights to it.

You know, I'd just wish the dev gave the same attention to TekwarGDX. It's pretty much abandoned.

Hopefully, the support for OpenGL would mean it can finally run properly with vsync. Screen tearing with build engine games is awful.

this version seems to mess up my mouse, its twitching around awfully bad but on whatever older version i had it worked perfectly. other than that it doesn't seem to detect fluidsynth as a midi synth, though hopefully that will be fixed with a reboot

i guess fluidsynth wont work, at least the cd music seems to work. as for the mouse input it seemed to be caused by it detecting a plugged in controller so unplugging that appears to have fixed it. i am very surprised to see how far this port has come, it plays great
