Kojima is friends with Guillermo del Toro, Mads Mikkelsen, and Norman Reedus, though, and it seems they joined his project willingly.

A lot of celebrities are really good voice actors. Take for instance Prey (2017), if feature Benedict Wong, a Hollywood celebrity, in a leading role and he absolutely kills it. Alex Yu is a very well voice-acted and memorable character. Now for the DLC Bethesda skimped and hired a shoddy replacement to voice Alex and he sounds terrible. The voice actor himself isn't doing any worse than average but it's obvious how exceedingly short he falls from his predecessor.
When Kojima replaced naked snake's VA with Kiefer Sutherland sure a lot of people complained but it's obvious that Sutherland was doing a great job and people were just complaining because David Hayter got cheated out of the role and because they hated change. Nobody was arguing that the quality took a dip.

I don't know why people care so much about Kojima, Tomokazu Fukushima was the real genius behind the series' writing and Shinta Nojiri was a better level designer/director. That's why Ghost Babel ended up being the best game in the series despite Kojima barely even being involved.

I'm reserving my judgement until uncut gameplay footage is shown. No doubt Kojima's a pretentious fuck but TPP is a damn fine game despite the missing content, and for some reason I'm holding out hope.
