Anyone still plays Pokémon? Which is your favourite game in the series and what kind of Pokémon do you specialize in? I believe the Gen 2 remakes were the best in the series and that the fall began in gen 6. I specialize in Pokémon in the monster egg group, so I'm essentially a monster maniac. I skipped 7, so I'm hoping for the next gen to actually be decent.

I am with you on XY and SM. They weren't bad games, the problem is after you competed the main story you didn't have much else to do. Both are very similiar, post-game sidestory and battle facility, and…thats it catch em all and go online. Maybe its just me but after coming from HGSS and BW2 all the shit you could do made those feel barren. XY didn't had a third version to add content or fix some of the issues, we had ORAS who could be a good game if rather than a remake was his own thing and the USM while better than SM still felt more of the same, it wasn't like in BW2 and compared to others enchanced versions like platinum and emerald, didn't brougth enough stuff to justify itself from the vanilla games.

Yeah, GF usualy makes a first game that is pretty underwhelming. Think ER or PD. PD were particularly bad and slow but Platinum solved everything. S&M did had stuff but it was a lot of world building quests, which were nice IMO. Just not enought. Not to mention that it had NO way grind to the highest level.

Wouldn't it be cool if we had a game that focused more on the environment/ecosystem of the region it played out in than just another "save the world from the bad guy and become the champion". Like for example finding a portable science lab with a bunch of eggheads somewhere that give you tasks to do, like catching specific pokemon with certain criteria for their research and they'll give you rewards for helping them.
Just having it be more 'world' driven and immersive rather than story driven.
I think a pokemon game made like that would be really cool.

I could go with Pokémon being full 3D if the camera was more dynamic and the "pace" of the battle system was faster. Yes, I get that old Pokémon was designed to force you to see the HP bar drain slowly before watching the next attack because shit programming and RPG for babies. Can I get an option to speed up or turn off HP bar lag?
Battle Revolution I think got it right with the HP bar lag. After the animation the whole portion of damage the Pokémon took glowed at once. Then the damage decayed with whatever type of damage the Pokémon took. If it was fire it burned off. If grass, it wilted to dust. Etc.
Battle Revolutions overall animations and sound design sucked. However it did get the camera dynamics and HP lag right. And don't tell me the slow HP drain adds suspense to the tension. It doesn't if you're the trainer. Because you should know whether or not a move is going to kill the moment it's called. The suspense is seeing if the move hits or fails, not the shitty calculator sucking at math.

Currently i'm trying to figure out how to do the stat display for the players (currently up to 3, by default P1 is normal(yellow/brown), P2 is shiny(pink/brown), P3 is based on the hawaiian tiger bee fly Xenox tigrinus (grey/black), you can pick the color on the color select screen).
Currently, It looks like it'll be like this:
Player name (by default "Player 1","Player 2",etc) color coded to the Ribombee's color
The health and hp number (You start with 60, can increase to 100, most enemy attacks deal 10 hp damage, equivalent to losing a life in other STG).
Then a line for how many power ups you picked up: Red for improved attacks, Blue for improved Defend command, Yellow is for improved Z-Attacks (equivalent to bombs in other STG), whatever color X-Sp. Def for decreased ailment duration (currently only ailment is poison due to Nihilego being heavily featured), Orange for temporary improved SE damage and resistance ignorance and Green for temporary immunity to ailments
Next line is your 4 equipped shot types and their PP (which regenerate when not in use or when you deal SE damage). You can change your equipped shot types between stages.
Then your speed level (which you can change like in Image Fight and R-Type Final) and your amount of Z-Crystals (bombs). The displayed Z-Crsytal color shows which one you have selected (you can freely toggle between Bug and Fairy).
Then a line for your ailments and their remaining duration.
Then a line for your score.
As for the plot, it has suddenly become cold in all of Ula-Ula, and the player characters try to find the reason for that.
Currently planned are 8 Stages plus a true last stage, and maybe an extra stage.
Each stage will have a secret condition that will let you fight an alternate boss. These bosses are original monsters (feel free to steal) that i intend to use for a "proper" Pokemon fan-game and have absolutely nothing to do with the plot.
The normal bosses are gen 7 monsters, except for stage 3, 8 (the "fake" last stage), the true last stage and the extra stage.
Another mechanic will be the ability to control how fast you scroll/advance the stage by your placement on the screen like in Gallop.
There's more autism to share but i'll end this post here.

In nearly every gen since gen 4 there's been an Arceus event, the reason why they include it is to give it to new players.

Counting romhacks, Sacred Gold/Storm Silver is my favorite (based on Soul Silver/Heart Gold) otherwise I'd probably have to say Crystal.
As for team composition I really like ghost, psychic and dragons so I try to get one each of those. Then I fill it out with some basic fire, grass and water. My favorite pokémons overall are probably Gengar and Alakazam.
If we're going to be all autistic about it I guess my team mostly resembles that of the "Elite trainers" since they mix a lot of types.
