Because Radon Labs did not have the cash to bribe reviewers. Plus no POCs and no faggotry. Of course reviewers cannot put "did not pay us our protection fee", so they come up with complete bullshit reasons to lower the score.
I liked Drakensang, it's a nice well-rounded party-based RPG, but mediocre reviews made me wait until I got it dirt-cheap. I bought the sequel without hesitation and it did not disappoint. (only the walking speed was getting on my nerves, but that can be tweaked easily)

Nobody would have a problem with generic fantasy if it wasn't almost always the sign of a shitty game. A high quality generic fantasy game with a budget greater than the plastic used to case the disc would be nice for a change. No deconstruction, no subversion, no edge and for the love of god quit making the elves a standin for nonwhites.

The Dark Eye is the (English) name of the Pen & Paper RPG. The first game is called just Drakensang, or sometimes The Dark Eye: Drakensang (or the other way around). The second game (a prequel to the first game) is called Drakensang: The River of Time. The second game also had an expansion called Phileasson's Secret, but everyone agrees that it was a quick cashgrab (if you are going to pirate it you might as well give it a try since you aren't paying). I hope this clears it up a bit.

This is because the narrative of mu soggy knees is bullshit. Video games are about fantasy (most of them anyway), so people want to play as someone good looking because that's who they want to be in the game world. I never play a character that looks like me, because I already look like me, I'd rather be a dashing rogue mage (see pic related).

Underrated. The 1st one was really cool too. One thing I liked better about the 1st one was the 2 main characters bit. It was cool to be both the good guy and bad guy basically. But with both you can really play with the system to make some fun builds. And in teh 2nd one the other party members actually have some personality to them. The companions in the 1st had some story to them but they just felt flat.

The problem with most MMORPGs is that they don't utilize the massively multiplayer or RPG aspect. Party members are easily replaceable and they only exist to serve a role defeating more pointless instance enemies just to get more loot to defeat more pointless enemies. There's not much useful interaction between players. You spend most of the time fighting mindless mobs walking around aimlessly in fields, randomly placed. You're playing with dumbed down RPG mechanics. The quests are focused on killing a certain amount of the exact same enemy. There's little actual role playing in it. Most of what you do has no impact on anything. You pick up a ton of worthless loot, where as in a single player RPGs most items have some value to them. The reason they're like this, padded out with filler, is to make you feel like you're actually spending time playing a game so you can keep shelling out $19.95 a month. It's a scam.

I only played it halfway because I always end up losing my safe files like an idiot. First of all, it's a buggy mess, so make sure you get the Circle of 8 community patch.
From what I've played it was pretty cool, but the RNG could really piss me off at times. This is the type of game where every encounter matters, so make sure to have a balanced party and use buffs. A mage who can cast sleep and put part of the monsters to sleep is much more useful than a mage who can cast one or two magic missles and has then blown his load. With that in mind I liked it well enough, but as I said, I never made it far into the game.
