Semi-Obscure Games From Your Childhood That Others May Not Have Heard About But You Enjoyed General

I really liked BFMEII. I actually have the Collectors edition and Rise of the witch king boxes still in my cupboard. It goes for a couple hundred dollars now.

It's actually a very enjoyable game still, especially with the Edain mod and you can still find seeded torrents.

In my neck of the slavlands these games were immensely popular. I wouldn't call them obscure. That other LOTR strategy game on the other hand, that was pretty obscure and I liked it.

war of the ring was an rts made by the guys who made battle realms. I think mandalore gaming did a video on it and its pretty good. i think this game made chris rage quit allowing games entirely for a while too.

On the topic of lotr, I would play this game for hours and hours with friends. Looking back its a mediocre battlefront 2 clone but it made for some very happy memories.

I have all the games in the series in pretty good condition. Just one problem; you need windows 7 or around there to play it, and my sorry normalfag ass is stuck with 10 like the knobhead I am

I spent an ungodly amount of time in the campaigns. I think I like the Dwarves in 2 best, especially that one stage where you fight the goblin dragon. I found out I could keep building and upgrading watchtowers, so I had like fifty watchtowers at the place where the dragon spawns to attack you, and his health would go down to red in one second. It was so much fun.

Gods, I even dug out Prototype to play it. I hate this so much…

The Spectrobes trilogy featuring my nigga Spikan. It's a 3D monster fightan game, except the battles are real time not turn based and you control two monsters at once. The Spectrobes themselves have different abilities and combat styles that complement each other in unique ways. There are marked gameplay differences between each installment, with the third one being a complete overhaul of the original formula. It's also the worst entry and the one which killed the series.

All in all its a strong concept that was unfortunately held back by awkward handheld controls and confusing level design.

Also If you want the first game to be a cakewalk you can grind the low level Samukabu you get near the starting area to get Samugeki, a tank form with heals, status, and ranged damage that will carry you to the final boss.

Naguzoro is another early pickup which has a retardedly strong fireball special that eats up only one bar of CH and will one shot everything until the midgame.

Finally Dongiga can spam a fuckhuge slow magma ball which deals constant damage to anything touching it and can stunlock enemies as it drags them across the battlefield with its weak knockback.

I still have my copies of Spectrobes. Damn those games were good. I was always partial to the Hercules beetle with a cannon for a horn. I think two was the best. That fucking mammoth though, holy shit, what a powerhouse! That fucking heal.

is the second one any different?

739324 No.15136869

>>15136811

The second one has a lot more content to it, and free base building. It's more of a traditional RTS than the first, and has good variety in the factions.

The title says everything, the sandbox of god. You combine events to get different endings and story routes. There's a a newer, remastered version that's basically an all around improvement on the original. If anyone finds a torrent, please post.

A friend of my aunt's installed a small collection of really fucking obscure games long ago. Like shit not even Saint has played. In the collection was Vertigo's (the guys who made this) older games. But that was like half of all the games. There's still so many I have yet to hunt down the internet. I can post descriptions if any anon wants to help.

2D space sim. One of my favorite games growing up. Got a friend's old Macintosh Power PC and a ton of demo cds and it had this on it. You could play the full version but it had an annoying parrot who would tell you to register the game.

Most people who are into JRPGs know about Riviera and the other Dept. Heaven games. (RIP in peace)

Calling it just average is a bit unfair too.

Slightly more obscure in the West is Sting's previous game, Baroque. It's a first person RPG with perma-death. A bit like King's Field with meta-progression. There is a PS2 port that got a weird anime reskin, but you should definitely play the PS1/Saturn original if you can read Japanese.

Twinsen' Odyssey or Little Big Adventure 2. It seems some anons here know about it but barely anyone else seems to do. It was no joke the most important game of my childhood. So many fond memories of it, shit was magical.

Okage: Shadow King is a pretty decent little RPG on the PS2. I'm sure some have played it here before, but it's got some charm, some likeable characters, and a passable battle system. The game really shines on exploration and the little bits and pieces you gain from it and revisiting towns. I'd say give it a play and see if you like it. I need to go back and beat the thing, since I was close to beating the game but lost my memory card in a tragic mishap
