That's because both the Then/Now Jrpgs panels in that pic were focused on the combat gameplay. But by contrast, both the Then/Now Wrpgs panel were more focused on needlessly verbose dialogue trees.

You can go try and fuck up Dagoth Ur whenever you want in Morrowind, if you wanna go fast you can do it in about 3 minutes. Moreso than even fighting him, if you know where sunder and keening are you can beat the game whenever you want since you don't technically NEED wraithguard to destroy the heart.
