There's a certain pattern regarding Digimon designs that envolves overdesign, especially the later the evolution-stage, and that is to be expected, but for me at least that's not that big of a deal because that's the staple of the series. What I really would like would be for the designers to go back to the more animalistic/monstrous designs over the humanoid ones, because unfortunely starting especially on the 4th season of the anime almost every last form of a digimon has to be some kind of human knight of sorts.

I actually got 2 of the 20th ver vpets recently (due to a weird series of events). Pretty good, but all the anniversary digivices seem to eat battories like a fat guy eats chips. It also isn’t terribly fun, it’s weird how much micromanagement you have to do to get the digimon you want and how little Japanese kiddos managed to do that and have fun with them.
The 15th ver D-Ark is genuinely fun though and was well worth the money I spent on it.

If you go on ebay you can find digivices usually between 40-70 bucks, and like I said, the D-Ark is pretty damn fun (just shoot for ver.1 or 2 to get it reasonably priced, though be careful of ver.2 if you're a terriermon fan). I've also heard the D-Scanner is pretty good but I can't vouch for that one personally.
Also, be real careful of Hong Kong or Thai knockoffs, though the chinese ones can be more difficult to gauge as Bandai does have a chinese branch. Still, best to play it safe and make sure the seller is based in Japan.

Paildramon's still in, and both still go into Imperialdramon. Due to how the game works, both imperialdramons end up as tanks but because they have the most previous forms in the game they tend to end up being support, but in Hacker's Memory Imperialdramon gets a new Paladin Mode which turns him from a tank into a shitwrecker.
Get three Platinum Numemon and 9 tactician USBs from development, it'll speed up grinding by a shitload
Buy 5 developer-know-how farm items or as much as you can get, slap a Builder nature mon in there, and do the 1000 yen development for Tactician USB aka exp one, and the 10000 yen one for Billionaire USBs, save before you check the farm every time and you can scum it to get what you want since the item variable generates as soon as you check
You never actually need to train your digimon at the farm unless you want Lucemon's evolved forms, but if you want to put the final party heal or perfect revival on Seraphimon for example, you have to loop him around a few digivolutions to Ophanimon, then loop back because he has the better unique attack but less healing and some of these digivolutions require some training.
Outside of requirement stats, once you have your perfect digimon, use Restraints to turn his stats back to normal and (after you have 100 ABI through digivolving) Invest all points into speed for every digimon, because Speed is the king stat in both PVP and the regular game and an extra 100 speed is the difference between 1 turn and 2 consecutive turns

Not random dungeons, just a bunch of set ones. You have the ability to reduce encounters to zero if you have a team of megas, or reduce them if you have anything lower. You'll want to encounter things when you're low level because each time you see a digimon you get a percentage of data from it, after enough you can straight up create that digimon at the bank. It's better to make the earliest ones though so you can get all the abilities you want on the way to an evolution, but getting later ones fills up your field guide to see what they turn into, since every digimon has like 4 paths that cross into ever other path somehow.

The crux of this is that, even in the RPG set, usually you stick with the final form/mega, meaning a lot of the intermediate forms are merely stopgaps. IE: I fucking love Metal Mamemon, but when ti comes to practicality and stats, I'm going to have Mugendramon, no questions asked.
This is why there are 8 forms of omegamon and all the knights and the 7 sins and crazy shit, because that's the game-end-stick-with-this-forever tier. The other digimon earlier in the chains get a back seat. Case and point: DORUmon and his dragon chain lead into Alphamon, only in HM did they include Grademon and DORUgoramon, but the only one who matters is DORUgoramon as the chain on the way there means very little unless you're a grinding autist. fuck it, I'm a grinding autist and I love seeing all the forms my digimon takes

The Digimon could have reached that form anyway if it had trained enough. But these processes give it a temporary means to do so faster. And that's ultimately what Digivices do anyway. Digimon can evolve without them, but it takes much more training. Digivices and the various practices they allow are means by which a Digimon can gain a temporary powerup, with the Digivice converting something else into data the Digimon can use to evolve.

Ultimate/mega happened due to Analogman making Mugendramon, Jijimon catching him as he attempted to realize, and scattering his data to the world, then the Digital world suffered a reboot.
Evolution levels work like this:
>Baby1<Baby2/in-training<child/rookie<adult/champion<perfect/ultimate<ultimate/mega
>armor in 02 = weird gray zone between Rookie and Champion
>Armor in anything else = mid ground between champion and ultimate
>Miracle armor = middle ground between ultimate and mega
>Natural over-time evolution >>>>>>>>> device induced evolution
Now this is just a baseline. Unlike most other things, powerlevels are just where you START, attributes and fighting skills are severely important. When Wargreymon was fighting Metalseadramon, Metalseadramon was winning and completely dominating the fight because Wargreymon has a natural vulnerability to aquatic digimon, but also Metal Seadramon was a natural evolution over hundred of years, Wargreymon had a temporary evolution and thus, his time allowed to fight is far shorter than a digimon normally can settle in for. Wargreymon needed help from Whamon and needed to basically catch Metalseadramon in a blindside attack with a special tool specifically geared to kill him to come out on top.
How about how Vamdemon's gathering of power made it so that NONE of the other ultimate digimon could even get near him, he would just wave his hands and their attacks would vanish, but an attack from Angemon not only severely hurt him, but vaporized Phantomon. Tamers took this farther with the modification cards that could give the general boost of evolution, but with the right attributes a digimon could beat another digimon who "should" be stronger than them.

Okay, this is complicated because it's normally outside of the grasp of the digital world and usually confined to the dark sea, which is the domain of the Demon lords. In the dark sea, powerlevels mean shit. Your affiliation with the darkness of the ocean is what matters. Now, only really a couple of digimon have ever attained Super Ultimate. These digimon are Arcadiamon and Demon. What are others? No, not the various Omegamon forms (those are all attribute changes, not level shifting). No, other "super ultimates" are when two Mega digimon suffer an incompatible Jogress. Examples include:
>Chaosmon
>Chaosmon Valdur arm
>Ultimate Chaosmon
>Ordinemon
What makes these digimon so dangerous and powerful? Well, digimon who are forced to jogress like this are suffering from Digicore burnout. They are exerting a lifetime of power in a short period of time, but as a result, the fusion will fall apart, often with one, if not both digimon dying afterwards.

I guess this is different from their Digisoul, because I thought I recalled Mugendramon not having a proper Digisoul. But Ken harvested Devimon's digisoul, which survived being killed by Angemon due to the pure strength of his evil and hatred. So since Mugendramon doesn't have a soul and Chimeramon's soul is actually Devimon's soul, Devimon essentially managed to become Millenniummon. The starter bad guy from the very beginning of the series actually managing to become the big bad of the entire mutliverse right under everyone's nose is a really cool idea.
