I made a slightly console wars-themed thread yesterday, and ultimately didn't get an answer.
So instead of comparing companies, I'd like to focus on PSN, alone.
How the fuck can Sony just overlook having such shit download speeds and incredibly bland and choppy gameplay? I mean, in retrospect, even the Dreamcast did better. But now, in 2018, how can a company defend possibly having a monthly fee for a service that's not usable past "free" games, which are all mostly shit anyway (and Xbox does the same exact thing so yeah, it's nothing special).
I constantly got disconnected from online matches, in particular anything 1v1; and there's no end to the cheaters who have somehow avoided the banhammer since day one.
So what's Sony's excuse? Do they have one? Is there any redemption for this console after this E3?

I've never had issues with "choppy gameplay" that wasn't squarely on the game's fault. I do agree that download speeds have always been pretty disappointing, but it's much better today than it used to be. Don't really have any issues patching stuff.

There have been multiple PSN security breaches leaking account information including credit cards, banking, full names, phone numbers, addresses, etc. yet people are still using PSN so at this point I'd say Sony doesn't really need any excuses since their users will put up with anything.

Nintendo doesn't have as much of a multiplayer playerbase and is shit in it's own way, and used to delegate that shit to people had some experience in managing multiplayer servers so the costs involved are much lesser since they didn't have to invest into having the infrastructure for it
Sony tries to run a massive worldwide network that's probably even bigger than XBOX and Nintendo combined and that includes way more shit than just vidya on a budget that is way too small so obviously it falls apart all the fucking time.

I'd just like to point out something with the "free" games sony gives you. If you check the info on the game you have a license to about 150 or so days. So in about 150 days the license goes away and the game disappears far as i know.
