The only ones I've finished are the fighting ones though. I know this complaint is all over the place when discussing the game, but inability to practice spellcards that you have reached is probably what turned me off from completing the first win game. Mine was OpenTTD (Transport Tycoon Deluxe). It was comfortable, just starting out as a tiny bus company, and becoming a super-futuristic maglev bullet train shipping company over the course of a century or two.
My toaster laptop, before its untimely demise in college, was a Dell Latitude L400. 800MHz, I think 256 or 512MB of RAM, no floppy or CD drive, but it could work with USB drives and any PCMCIA cards. I played Cave Story, OpenTTD, everything but 3D games in MAME32++, 2D console games through the GBA.
Right now, my desktop may as well be a toaster, considering its attached specs. It runs everything pretty well, but the 8GB limit for the motherboard, and the not-fully-(((compromised))) processor don't lend themselves to doing any serious video encoding or game playing.

Both, I loved the idea of piecing a story together piecemeal from a bunch of logs and building a game entirely around it was interesting as hell. But the overall narrative of "MEN ARE BAD HURRR" and forgiving a woman who knowingly slaughtered so many people - even by proxy - is just absurd.
BMW is really solid, I've played it. If you like Super Robot wars and you liked the characters of Nasuverse, it's really fantastic.
Dredmor makes me wish a more decent game used its system for levels, skills, and stats, because it's super interesting to me.
I remember on one of my old potatoes getting a fucking wii emulator to run. Not all games worked on it because potato, but that one Vanillaware game about katanas (fucking name escapes me) did just fine. I was mystified as to why but wasn't about to ask questions.

It's fun waiting an eternity for a map to load in anything, even shit made in 2006. Can't record footage of anything at 1920x1080, without it being one frame every ten seconds, with choppy audio. I doubt I can even run PSX on this thing, though I was surprised when the Fahrenheit launched on it and could run at acceptable framerates. As much as I enjoy Q2, it's just way too long and as a consequence drawn out, samey location styles don't help it either. It is definitely more advanced than doom 1, but doom 1 is a more solid package than Q2 is.

The fact that hitscan enemies are so prevalent in said games is what makes them worse than doom.
Shadow warrior and to some extent Blood also suffer from the same problems Q2 does.
