It still remains to be seen if it'll be worth getting, but that depends primarily on how much content is actually on the disc in comparison to how much is paid dlc. It also looks like certain secondary characters are getting more screen time like with the first remake. Richard is a good example of this change from original to remake. I'm just hoping it includes more of the other officers at the very least. I'm also curious if Mr X and Birkin are going to interact more. In the trailer, Birkin appears to impale Mr X with his claw. It could make for some interesting gameplay if done correctly. I'm also curious if we'll ever get to see the battle at the Dead Factory. We only got to see the aftermath in RE3, but the actual battle takes place at the same time that Hunk takes G from Birkin. I'm also curious if Hunk's timeline is going to change. I believe he was unconscious for a very long time in the sewers. In Outbreak, the rats started eating the survivors almost immediately. How did Hunk survive that long before he got up and started making his way out?

Except the numbers are incredibly important here! With the numbers posted it shows that CV didn't actually sell better in any significant way. It's a difference of 50,000 units, that's absolutely nothing for a RE game, or any non-indie game really. I concur. At the least they're going with limited resources and zombies that can survive multiple headshots to incentivize conservation of ammo like the original. I've heard that there will no longer be A and B scenarios for both characters and that really annoys me since it cuts down on the replay value. There was something really cool about seeing all the alternate scenarios that would unfold and how your different playthroughs would effect one another, and room for strategizing about what equipment you would leave for your second run.
This also seems like a missed opportunity to see what prerendered backgrounds would look like with today's technology considering REmake's backgrounds look like something on par with today's real time graphics. We would've had photorealistic RE2 backgrounds but Capcom had to follow the immense success of RE4. Shame, really.

Atmosphere, puzzles, and strategy. Even RE7 had this. I have yet to go through RE4 so I can't talk it down.
While the puzzles weren't hard, you still had to figure out how to proceed. An example would be in RE1 where you had to make the formula that weakens the plant boss in the greenhouse, another would be working the power in the police basement in RE2 so you can go to the weapons storage. Atmosphere may not be a part of the core gameplay, but it played a key role in the horror. The camera may have been playing against the player, but it adds to the horror as one of the sources of horror comes from what you can't see. Also, the OG games didn't have QTEs.

Honestly I don't miss the fixed camera for RE2 that much, it didn't have as many interesting locales where high definition fixed scenes would have made a difference compared to the rustic beauty of RE1. Only thing I'm worried about is the length of the game and area size, Re2 even on the first playthrough was about 4-5 hours long (one scenario) and it was a normal feat to beat both scenarios in under 2 hours. With the faster movement, will they have to change up the police department size much more so that the game length will not seem as short? Or will they possibly pad the sewers to be longer, or the lab?
Considering REmake added a few areas and changed it up a bit, I wonder how it will play. The modern visceral, gorey outset really looks good to me.

In the originals, the pistol could only headshot based on RNG. This means to drop a zombie and walk by you were looking at about 5 shots to drop a zombie and walk past, making it a sunk-cost issue where you may decide to just finish him there or risk 5 more shots later for minimal return.
Now, it isn't RE4 levels of bad, but we see zombies getting dropped with at most 3 shots. I just don't see why you wouldn't just pop two rounds and leave in every encounter (until lickers of course. However, something tells me sneaking past them will be easy as pie).

I ain't talking Crimson Heads. Try a little experiment for me. In REmake on the first floor bathroom as Chris, drain the water and run from the zombie. Then from that hallway run to the hallway that leads to the painting room. The zombie will follow you bursting through doors in the meantime.
There are other examples of zombies doing this, like the second floor east wing hallway having zombies walk through the doors after you, or the second floor west wing halls having a zombie that busts through a door after you.

Well, it's still first person in pursuit of a cheap gimmick. The whole point of making it first person was to make it an easy transition to VR, and it worked. The game feels fantastic in VR, and little moments like where you're trudging through the water up to your neck in the flooded crawlspace - peeking out of windows or behind cover to look for enemies - and the dining room scene - all feel really good in VR. You just have to grab a controller and turn off all that crappy anti-motion sickness garbage first.
Still, I hope it's the last Resident Evil game that's made for VR - aside from maybe the odd spinoff. It was a neat experiment, but that's not the kind of thing I play Resident Evil for.
Also: I just finished RE6 and it was actually a pretty alright game if it were a spinoff, even if it was one of the shittiest Resident Evil games I've played. Chris's whole campaign was pretty shit, but Ada was cute as fuck with her leather pants and popped up collar - and Jake and Sherry had the best campaign.

It's called sound design you mongoloid, and if you payed even the slightest attention to the audio - you'd know exactly what you were facing and roughly how many of them were there before you saw them. They never put zombies in cheap positions that would fuck you as soon as the camera shifted - unless you ran into a room like a sperg without knowing what's ahead, or took too long to do what you needed to do and have ZERO situational awareness.
That plays into part of the atmosphere in the originals, since HEARING enemies long before you could SEE them - while arguably a cheap tactic - is highly effective in raising tension.. which you're supposed to feel in a horror game. Silent Hill, similarly, used audio cues and reduced visibility (despite not having a fixed camera) to great effect in setting the atmosphere and making you feel isolated and vulnerable.

There was no quick turn in Resident Evil 2. That came later with RE3 and the RE2 ports.
Also, as an escape, quick turning is pretty shitty, it's much more about making navigation less of a chore. Emergency Dodging and similar escapes are far, far superior than quick turning in combat.

Daily reminder that the 2002 Remake for the GameCube is way better than the original game in every possible way and is a great example of how to do a remake right, something seldom ever actually done for anything other than a cashgrab. Hell if were being honest here, RE2 needed this treatment even more since it's the easiest game in the original trilogy, best atmosphere and music aside.

I bought the HD release of REmake for myself twice. Once in the console physical release for PS4, and again on PC as well as the RE0HD release on PC just to send a message. I even bought two copies of REmake during Steam Sales for my friends just to further boost the idea that Survival-Horror can fucking sell and it did!
