I spent 40-60 hours making a build around the painting guardian sword because I saw it had S scaling for enchanted and it caused bleeding.

My favourrite build for dueling was my SL 125 it was just tuned to be as minmaxed as possible 77 poise, light roll, spells and weapon buffs (had an int and faith version) 2k hp and it had two weapons to deal with any kind of opponent. I used the Falchion and the Estoc also had the Scimitar and Ricard's Rapier.

Spending more than one night just in Townshit dueling up a storm, good times. Oneshotting people with the running R1 with rapiers where it does two stabs never got old.

This is what I hate most about the RNG. Not only does the enemy get the chance to wipe out half or more of your health in a single shot which could wipe out a character before you can act, but your team also receives stress because numbers happened and the Wheel of Assfuck decided to sodomize you with a 2x4 wrapped with barbed wire for playing the game. This wouldn't bother me as much as it does if crits were restricted to certain enemies, buffs given by enemy casters or had a crit resistance stat which lowered crit damage or gave a chance to dodge it altogether.

<AOE no longer bypasses Stealth if you can't see any of them

<Multiple effects from attacks now roll independently of each other instead of on the same roll

But you forgot the worst 3 points;

1. They listened to Reddit

2. Healing proc is capped at 2x, making Leper tanks and Arbelest healers ded in the water, along with the hero as a whole since that was basically their only respective builds (Arbelest has Mark builds, but Marks are just shit)

3. 2 enemies is now enough to trigger reinforcements, thus making every fight in the game REINFORCE: The Game. Got 2 Swine Bruisers/ SquidShields that'll tank enough hits to take them to R3 because you had to focus the Spewers/Stressbots? REINFORCE. Got 2 hounds/ Polyps that'll dodge 1-2 times and stall? REINFORCE. Just taken out their Stressbots, onto their Damageprocs; but need to take a turn to quickly heal/destress? REINFORCE. Taking a turn to buff your team up to finish off a 1-unit miniboss? Looks like you just did 2 'Stall' moves, so REINFORCE.

This is easily the worst change. Whereas Stealth was difficult to play around; but manageable and fit into the game, this Reinforce change will fuck the entire meta up. The game isn't balanced to facilitate allowing 3 enemies to live (plus now you have less of a chance of juggling stuns, because reasons), this change has singlehandedly destroyed DoT comps, Tankcomps and some other quirky shit that you use to be able to get away with (Byebye Last Crusade!). Jester is now a MUST PICK, since there is not a single other hero which can destress as well; bar Flagellant (Who is a healer/tank hybred for DoT teams), so Crusader is now a pure DPS hero and Houndmaster sadly lost 1 of his 5 uses.

This is what happens when devs listen to reddit. We get this shitshow. Fucks sake, I need to quickly finish my run.

I had a Baron fight where he was at 12Hp and went to full HP because he wouldn't stop critting his lifesteal shit, why the fuck are they buffing this guy?

On a side note, Mark teams seem now stronger, it made my encounter with this boss a walk in the park as you can see on before-after from the pics.

Overall the patch seems to be a net negative. Though there are some neat little quirks (GraveRob moving from a Tier 2 to a Tier 1, ABOMINATION CAN FINALLY PLAY WITH CHURCHIES, Critbuffs, Buff ticks on turn end) there is just so much useless shit that only serves to fuck the high end metagame up. Currently speaking from my outlook, the following classes now do not have a single viable build on Stygian, because let's face it you can get away with almost anything on Radiant/Darkest

I don't know about you, but Bounty Hunter is T1 right now in my opinion. His damage is god damn insane in a mark team and now that you can't stall that much and that he has a mark when he pulls targets it's easy as fuck to land 50-70 damage without hitting a human. He has lost his stun and stun damage, that is true.

Houndmaster may have been nerfed, but he gained +10% damage on mark and his AoE attack is now worth using, quite useful on the Endless mode. His stress heal is worse but now it's more reliable. The only heavy hit he took was on Blackjack and lick wounds.

Arbalest/Musketeer have an incredible damage on Marked targets as well, plus she gets to use certain trinkets that has not been nerfed and are quite strong, like Prophet and Brigand trophies or her unique trinket that gives her damage on 4th position. Sure, she's mid tier even after the buffs, but she has a nice slot in mark teams.

Shieldbreaker is now a Garden Guardian farmer and Brigand killer. Her best area still seems to be Cove. Her blight is now better, his pierce being able to reach all positions is really nice. However the forced dream (3 on Lv1, 2 on Lv3 and 2 in Lv5 areas) are still rather annoying, plus her trinkets are rather worthless now. However her new DLC trinket is one of the strongest.

Flaggelant is now forced to use the backrow AoE bleeding, making him an exact copy of the Plague Doctor but without stun. At least his stress heal is now much better than before, I was able to do long runs only stress healing with him eventhough I had everyone on the verge of getting afflicted (I was hunting the roaming boss who funny enough, is weak against DoTs or Prot Pierce characters, so Flagellant is a good choice).

Leper is… still the worst character in the game in my opinion. At least his battle-long buffs now make him more useful and a killing machine for the front row as long as you give him 2 ACCs trinkets, landing 60-80 damage per hit without being a critical after buffing. I should try him on Endless, maybe he is worth a damn there since you don't care who you are killing if front or backrow since they won't stop coming.

Grave Robber is an amazing unit at the moment, easily on the top right now although instead of putting her on position 2 to start with Lunge, she should start on position 4 for when she runs out of the new stealth skill she has. She works really well with Plague Doctor. Right now on the team I showed before, she's always first and usually critting for 66 damage often enough to think it's normal to crit for her. With her stealth buff and hitting a blighted enemy, she may reach around a hundred damage if she crits.

You'll find out, the only thing you have to watch for is the roaming boss since the hard part of the Endless run are the mobs that you already now more than the new ones, just remember to clear corpses with Clear Corpses skills or to destroy the crystals that appear from the corpses, they work like a Thrall kamikaze.

My first Endless Run got me two Giants doing Tree Branch smackdown crit left and right. Luckily they can't DoT if they keep smacking so I just kept them all above 1 Hp, this mode is a fucking bitch and it's more "for fun" than for grinding crystals. So far I have gotten better loot looking for the roaming boss than doing Endless.

I would need more time to learn about the new stuff.

As I said, I don't have any Mark squads set up; so a tangible buff to Marking in general+the tickrate change could make the comp much more viable (I'll try making one for my next run, but just started Viscount so I'll be a while). My issues with it previously was the fact the cost of the Mark debuff was not comparable to either attacking them outright or using Util (such as Healing as Occultist/Arbelest), plus the fact you really want to be shredding the Stressnukes and other High Priority targets first rather than wasting a turn on applying a solo-target debuff. After you deal with the priority targets, the remaining targets are easier to just stunjuggle or tank their usually weak blows over burning it down with a Mark.

Houndmaster always was the self-sufficient Util pick, which role in general has been nerfed; thus the Hound has taken a notable hit. His destress is more reliable, but still pails in consistency to Jester (don't forget, you want to be doing burst heals/destress with the reinforce change fucking over drawn out fights). His Lick Wounds nerf has made his dodgetanking a bit less reliable and made him more reliable on the team healer. The AoE buff is nice (especially on niche Hounds for the Flesh etc), but the hit to general DoTs by the Reinforce change has fucked it a bit. The Stun nerf is a flat nerf (on top of the universal stun nerf); so he's lost that.

Overall, Hound has taken notable hits to lots of his builds and can no longer be called top build in the game. imo, Jester has taken the top spot (once again)

Funny thing is that Leper used to have an extremely niche role as a FleshTank, but the change to Reinforce has really fucked that role up-not to mention the universal ACC nerf has hit him the hardest of all the heroes. He isn't the worst (Antiquarian takes that, especially to her loss of Sirenbait), but they really don't know why the fuck Leper is shit and seemingly buff him in ways that only shitters would think are good.

Graverobber and Shieldbreaker have always been top picks. Shieldbreaker has decent Util combined with good DPS and flat the best pure tanking ability in the game. Graverobber is guaranteed tempo damage with decent crit chance. Of the entire patch it appears she has got the best outcomes; her abilities have been buffed, she safely ignores the universal ACC nerf, she benefits the most from the CRIT buffs and her tempo damage is perfect for dealing with the Reinforce changes. Playing with her just now easily puts her in high Tier 1. Overall the best general comp in the game is currently Vestal/Jester/GraveRobber/Shieldbreaker, with Hound just fitting anywhere you want to switch out for most other flexcomps.

Side note; love the aesthetic of the DLC, Colour Out of Space is definitely one of Lovecrafts stronger works, not only for its general concept but for how the pacing is much better than some of his weaker works like Picture in the House. I like how they have kept more succinct t the theme over taking some creative liberties. Shame the patch notes give me fucking conniptions; the more I think about it, the more the obviously just listened to reddit and memestreamers and have reluctantly fucked the balance up catering toward them. Still hold to the Reinforce rework being the worst change in the games current history.

I was already mad enough wtih CC changes, mostly due to the new mechanic that got introduced instead of the changes. How easy it is to get CC disease and how easy it is for the heroes to act like if they were afflicted even if you took into account their stress making it quite the bullshit DLC that moved more towards heavy RNG than proper risk management.

I am actually happy with some of the changes like the stun nerfs to avoid boring stalling. I'm ok with a total change of meta. I'm not ok with RNG trinkets, nerfing a character to the ground neither buffing useless shit that noone wants nor needs. Seriously, why insist buffing the blight of GR, for what fucking reason? Why give the Plague Doctor bleeding trinkets when she has an awful bleeding skill? Crimson Court trinkets are, at least most of them, pure garbage.

And seriously, Marks are worth a try now. You are not suppossed to be marking everything or marking at the very beginning of a round obviously, you want as usual to nuke the stressers but when you can't nuke both, an Occultist can mark the second so it gets one shotted on the next round.

Marks shine the most against champion units (Size 2) or bosses a lot. Thanks to how Mark heroes have been buffed it is worth going around with them even without placing marks.

Either way I had fun farming the roaming boss with Hound/GR/Occultist/BH. Even if the boss has 80% PROT, thanks to Occultist weaken and Hound Mark, you can ignore all of that and destroy the thing.

How do you even play that team Vestal/Jester/GraveRobber/Shieldbreaker? Would you even run Lunge with GR after Jester using his Dirk Stab and making sure that SB is always moving forwards and thus never using Ader's Kiss?

It's linked to disease resist. Though its a buff to DPS heroes, if you don't want CC on your support/tank just feed them Holy Water. Its still very RNG heavy, but manageable if you work using that.

Stun nerfs don't hit stallcomps though, it hits Stunjugglers harder. Agree totally on the increase in unalterable RNG and your point on useless buffs; but I'll see about Marking. Thinking of using Arbelest/Jester/Hound/Bounty, maybe switch the Hound for a Grave or a HWM; I'll trial it in Warrens

-Vestal is healbot, with Judgement for self sufficiency and Dazzling Light for offhand Stuns if it lands

-Jester is specced for max destress for -25 Stress per single-target strum, Battle Ballad for sets of Hounds/fast enemies, then Harvest/Slice for Rank 2-3 control when he isn't Util

-GraveRobber is what it says on the can, spamming knives and buffing herself up, sneaking back with Fade when comboed with ShieldBreakers natural movement. I then run double daggers to really bully Rank 2-3 when comboed with Jester (its niche, but multitarget innately chips away at stealth and corpses, so it's nice to run)

-Shieldbreaker kicks it off with Aegis, Pierce for dealing with Prot, Puncture to deal with Guards (especially on High Priority) and a flex slot I usually fill with Expose to deal with Stealth or Impale as decent tempo.

My key issue is that all this anti-stall shit doesn't impact people who are outwardly scumming it, but hits normal play harder. The same way Dark Souls 3 Weapon level dictates invasion ranges, twink users will just minmax to adapt to this and it hits normal players much harder. If they wanted to make stallcomps ded in the water, they should have ramped up standard enemy damage after something like the 25th turn and given 2slot enemies an extremely long reinforce timer (20rounds before the timer kicks in or something). Instead, by fucking up Reinforce clauses the entire game and a good chunk of unrelated-to-stall comps have taken a hit along with making the extremes of the tier list more pronounced (not shifting the meta in any way, but making it more concrete). Already OP burst heroes (Vestal, Jester, Occ, Grave, HWM, Hellion) adapt well to the change, weaker DoT/Util/Tank heroes get shat on (Arby, Flag, PDoc, Antiquar, MAA, Leper, Crusader). Tried out my tankcomp/The Wall (Vestal/MAA/Crus/Leper) and I got 8 loads of Reinforcements called in a Short Ruins, but later used my stallcomp (Occ/Hound/Abom/Hellion) in a pretty standard Long Weald and it did completely fine because 2slot enemyscum is still a thing, only 1 set of Reinforce triggered by accident.

Fundamentally; they said they have nerfed stalling, but have in actuality made it even more powerful compared to other (already weaker) comps. It simply shows the devs have either a fundamental misunderstanding of the games meta, or have been taking advice from some real fucking idiots ahem, ahem, reddit ahem

Antistalling is dependant on your comp. As I previously said, running DoT focused teams and tank focus teams have been hit the hardest; whereas actual stall comps are almost unaffected if you know what to avoid.

Reinforcements are just as annoying as usual; especially since they usually trigger once you are specifically trying to take a singe turn to sort some danger-tier stress/healing issue. They don't appear to have been made harder; but their frequency has just become quite fucking obnoxious (notably spawning from common enemy combos like double 'tanks' that are left after killing Stressnukes and priority; such as 2SwineBruiser, 2FungalZombie, 2Tentashields and 2Boneshields) Going through Viscount, the change doesn't appear to be too bad in CC since most of the enemies there sacrifice health for damage and curse application and I imagine similar would be true in DD since the tanky mobs there also happen to be the priority targets (Preists, Stungrowths etc)

tl;dr bring some high burst damage or be prepared for some needlessly long fights because being stuck with Reinforcements is a fun and engaging feature. polite herbs

Fucking everything has changed, it would likely be unrecognizable to you by now. The game was actually finished, for one, along with two DLC packs.

In the most recent version many buffs have been reworked so that they can only be popped once a battle but will remain for the entirety of the battle. Crit rates have been boosted, accuracy slightly nerfed across the board. Now when a hero hits a crit they get buffed for a couple of rounds. There's enemies with stealth mechanics and wandering boss fights. The newest DLC is an endless horde mode that rewards special crystals for buying special trinkets. The Kickstarter-exclusive Musketeer class was made available for everyone. Dungeons are no longer grids and are instead twisty zig-zaggy sprawls. Long-ass list of skill and trinket reworks that is probably going to get jerked around in the future as devs take feedback and whining into account. They definitely over-meddle in their game, I have to admit.

You may as well give it a go and see if you like how it is.

I think character skins are just a few sprites per class, so it shouldn't be too hard. I believe there already are mods that give you white options for the nigger classes.

You can already disable the arbalest in favour of the musketeer by editing game files. So it won't be too hard to simply swap them out for ones I've drawn instead.

I'm actually liking both the DLC and balance more than I thought I would. The new DLC stuff is honestly better than Crimson Court. Where that one was just a huge batch of end game stuff, CoM can be done anytime, doesn't interfere negatively with the main game, and just adds a bunch of neat stuff. It really came out great. I don't regret pirating it.

Agreed. Crimson Court feels like an extra difficulty without being bloodmoon/stygian with actual RNG bullshitery that the main game didn't have such as how awful the Curse mechanic is and how thanks to that Fanatic would appear randomly which would mean insta-abandon quest if you are on the early stages of the game or your team is not prepared to face him.

Don't get me started with the fucking Baron. The rest of the Court is actually really nice, but the Curse mechanic, Baron and how Fanatic can appear so early is pure bullshit.

I think my biggest issue with the Crimson Court DLC is it encourages you to rush through it instead of take it at your own pace. It starts off with an event that reduces stress healing in town, and it perma repeats until you send people into the court to get fucked by a croc. Then from that point on the infestation mechanic makes it a pain. It goes up constantly, and the only way lower it is beat one of the bosses. Since the bosses are pretty difficult and designed for late game you get fucked hard if you have a low level team or do the crimson court quest early. Whenever you start building up heroes one will get the curse because of the high infestation and you have to start at square one.

I like the idea of the Crimson Court (dealing with mosquito infestations and a dungeon you need an invitation to, and the crimson curse mechanic), and I love the aesthetic. I just wish it was handled so much better than it is. Ways to better prepare to avoid getting it, ways for the infestation to naturally shrink or disappear some weeks (and overall just lowering infestation encounters across the board) and adding more normal quests to the dungeon that still require invitations to enter. Something that actually intertwined with the main game, as opposed to something you put off and then rush at the very end.

Yes. It's an annoying event that overrides any other event forcing you to start the DLC which is as you say, a race. The longer you take, the more infected people you'll get and the worst part of it, is that they will DIE permanently even if you don't fuck up just because you lack blood for them.

In fact, it came to a point for me to make the DLC bearable, that I would hoard all busts to craft as fast as possible the blood building on the disctrict.

The maps for the bosses are really big, which is nice but always the same map so you eventually learn it or just check the wiki, it's not good but not that bad either. The problem comes later, due to you needing to race your way to kill the boss to save your entire fucking roster from dying due to the damn curse, if you don't know where you're going you spend more time and you may even lose your heroes thanks to surprise Crocodolians.

And I will never stop getting mad at the Baron boss fight. It's truly the most bullshit bossfight in the entire game.
