Without good memory management and cache usage most AAA games wouldn't even run on the specs given in the OP. But the final parts of memory management and cramming as much shit into a cacheline as possible isn't feasible before you know your final memory and variable requirements, which is only at the end and guess what it's called when you do it mid-development only for your requirements to change?.

Have you never developed a game on your own? Top priority is to get everything working as intended in the first place. The main purpose for the closed-doors presentation here is to show a vertical slice of the game and build hype amongst journos. Any bugs and issues can be promised to be fixed later on.

I remember that being one of the more anticipated gameplay addition mods for New Vegas that came out recently. It really does make the enemies feel real and natural when you can blow their leg off and they try to crawl away from you or you chop their arm off and they try to run away to cover/ fire at you with the gun in their attached arm while they bleed out. I'd posit that it is still possible to criticize (with varying degrees of vehemance) a certain aspect of the game as it was advertised in contrast to how it was released, and that the guy you're responding to is 'invested', for lack of a better word. I personally have no issue with 'downgrading' a game - marketing a game will always use visual fidelity as a way to wow the viewer, and it works best when the art direction and the atmosphere is nailed. If said atmosphere is retained post-downgrade without loss of gameplay features, the game has not suffered in any appreciable- to posit otherwise is to be a 'graphics whore' at worst and be ignorant of development considerations at best.
It's how CDPR did it that I have a big problem with. They LIED their ass off on the official forums and everywhere saying there was no downgrade, when a shitload of their fans pointed it out they just doubled down and went on and on till the game actually released. Now that's disingenous marketing that insults every single potential buyer and anyone with a stake in the game for mitigating a short-term loss in earnings from the game. That's a mini ITX build specifically for running a on-rails demo for journos (and for lugging around at E3 I bet), and it needs the RAM cause why the hell would they do an optimization pass right now? They already got LOD and popping NPC problems a la Andromeda (in their trailer no less) so 32 gigs of RAM is not unreasonable to at least showcase it right. Given what they did with the Witcher 3 just to make it run on consoles, and the estimated release date 2077, you've no worries in terms of specs.
Anyhow, this is an asinine point to raise, and if the mods had any sense they'd delete this damn thread.

Yes. V is the player character. More custom then Geralt, at least I am thinking of it as a more custom Denton or Jensen, and that's how I can not lose all interest with a voiced protagonist. I also think V is going to be called V for their "vox box", and that either you will have multiple voices to choose from, or the one you have has a "malfunction" and is set to the base/some eceleb in the game. Which will mean, actually interesting gameplay/dialogue/story if it is done right, and all due to the setting.
