You said it yourself, it's an option, and so is the 16:9 ratio. You can play in 4:3 without background crops and camera pans and you can play with tank controls. The HD one is also playable in 60 FPS on PC which is the only version not locked at 30 FPS. You can also easily use a trainer on PC to instantly unlock hard mode (which is the only difficulty worth playing in my opinion).

RE3 had zones where if you cleared it out the enemies wouldn't respawn until an "Event" happened. That's the problem with CV the respawning enemies just limit player freedom and that's all they do. They are the definition of what one would call "Artificial Difficulty" and once you notice it your autism will prevent you from really enjoying the game. I love almost all of the resident evil games and this one in particular I still like but it triggers my tism.

The blank lines are being added by my scaler, it's an effect that I put on some 480i games because most were designed with CRTs in mind and as such it makes the colors and gamma correct. You can look it up yourself, REmake ran in 480i.

I guess I'll try to tell you why I like it.

For one the game doesn't really feel like an RE game thematically during the first half, it feel like a game based off 2000s horror flicks but it still has classic elements. Unlike the amnesia type FPS horror games this one has an actual budget and I feels mostly inspired by PT. Them using a new MC helps convey the sense of vulnerability and it helps that Ethan is a bit of a smartass. I love the pacing and level design up until the tanker part, in fact I feel the game should've ended there, it would've a stronger impact. The gunplay is a bit meh but considering Ethan isn't supposed to be Leon Wick or Chris Boulderpuncher I can forgive it.

Above all I like how it feels that Capcom is going back to basics with the series.

The story is stupid like any other RE game but the first half feels like it was paced by gods. The game goes apeshit after the tanker and this according to the GDC talk was because the teams had issues when deciding how to end the game.

I guess I'm not making a strong case for it but why should I make you like something you don't?

Rev2 is excellent and has loads of replayability, Rev is not and does not. As for placing it about Remake, it's a matter of refined gameplay, replayability, and skill ceiling. With Remake it's all about item memorization, route planning, and enemy avoidance, and only one of those actively demands something from the player during gameplay. I put 2 and CV above Remake because they did it first, and they did it better. Remake is a solid improvement of 1, but it did nothing to advance the series.

Playing Rev1 on PC feels stiff as fuck because the game as made for 3DS and I like Rev2, I wouldn't call it a quintessential game in the series but definitely worth a playthrough though sometimes the melodrama is a turnoff.

Raid Mode is like mercenaries but you have to get to the end of the level while killing enemies and depending on how you do you get EXP to improve your character, buy upgrades, weapons and costumes. As >>15021220 pointed out it tends to drag on with the grind because when you're starting out you do shit damage and have shit weapons so you have to replay levels to get medals and shit so you can buy the upgrades.

She unwittingly starts creating more mold and they kill the crew. The Bakers find the child and unconscious Mia and Eveline takes them over relatively quickly.

The whole story is pretty sad. Eveline really did want a family of her own like any child would. She wanted a mother and to be loved. Unfortunately for her, she was created as a bioweapon and she was also really unstable. Outside of being created in a lab, she really was a little girl who wanted a family and was pretty hellbent on that task. She was given Saddler's ability to control the infected for better and for worse. She looked like a grandma, because she hadn't received any medication in years and the age-accelerate that she was initially given to make her 10 years old kept going. Too bad there was no way to ease Eveline's pain in the end and give her a peaceful death. Yeah she got a bunch of people kidnapped and killed, but she really had the mind of a child with a stupid amount of power that she wasn't properly equipped to control.

1 and 7 are there for the spooky house game. 2,3,CV are all pretty similar, with 2 edging out 3 as the most well known. Having said that, the RE games were always pretty corny and 4 takes this to the next level. It really doesn't take itself that seriously. 5 had Chris punching boulders in his effort to take down Wesker. 6 was just too much and awful in general. Had they stuck to the first town of Ashford, it would have been great. Unfortunately, we got like 3 different stories going on at once and the obligatory trip to China. It was just awful. Leon was a rookie cop when the outbreak occurred in Racoon City. He would have been slaughtered had he faced the ganados. The game would have been utter bullshit too. By the time of 4, he had already gone through another outbreak in South or Central America. He was able to take on groups of infected by himself and was a veteran by this point. He was only like John in that there was really no one there that could kill him. I never got a sense that Leon was scared throughout the entire game. Even when he was getting swarmed by ganado in that one house or when he fought many of the game's bosses, he always seemed confident. The only time he seemed shocked was when the chainsaw man first showed up and they were only scary, because they could take hits, were relatively quick, and could one-shot the player in a gruesome manner. Chris suffered from this as well. The only person that felt like a threat to Chris was Wesker. He hulked over a lot of the regular enemies and seemed to match the mini-gunners in size. Isaac from Dead Space heavily suffered from this in Dead Space 3. Isaac and Jill didn't suffer from this as much in their second games, because the scope of the danger had greatly expanded. Isaac was dealing with a huge colony this time. Jill was heavily outnumbered and constantly getting surrounded. There were no safe places for Jill in the city and the threat of Nemesis showing up kept her moving forward. People were dying all around her. She always seemed to be a moment too late when it came to saving a civilian. Carlos was constantly worn out. He was no Chris and seemed to be barely holding himself together. He "died" or fainted a ton throughout the game. He showed vulnerability and the player always felt like he could end up like those nameless mercs who got torn apart in the opening movie.

That video was neat. If they ever decide to do more spin-offs like re3, I'm hoping they explore the early days of the mansion(s). There's not a whole lot left to cover in the RE universe as is. There are groups still around in-universe with the ability to create bioweapons, but that's really the norm for the re universe. Wesker is dead and old Umbrella is gone. We've had games take place in cities, big and small, swamps, the snow, underwater, underground, in forests, on islands, in Europe, in Asia, in Africa, in the Americas, Antarctica, ect. The threat went global with Ouroboros, and the oceans were already jeopardized.

Been years since I've played CV but I remember it being pretty unforgiving at times with it's ammo supply and loving to throw you in tight quarters so the knife isn't as viable. Save all the magnum ammo for the final boss; I only found 18 magnum rounds the entire game.

Oh. I forgot that he showed up in RE2. I kinda wish he had lived a bit longer in RE3. Nemesis just jumps inbetween him and Jill and just murders him. It shows how cold Nemesis is, but Brad did deserve a bit more than that. He abandoned both teams out in the woods and that got a lot of them killed in the mansion. He at least should have shown some remorse for that. In Remake, Richard died a hero. Stupid Chris was completely unaware of the sharks and Richard was relatively safe where he was at. He saved Jill from Yawn. He was tasked with protecting Rebecca and he followed through with that till the very end. Brad really does need to die either a coward's death in the next remake or a hero's death. Just getting gibed like that was just lazy. Getting cornered by Nemesis wasn't a coward's death. There was jack shit he could have done there and he sure as shit wasn't expecting Nemesis to fall from the sky like that.

On a slightly separate note, why does Chris have such bad luck with keeping others alive? You hear the growl of cerberus and Chris still sends Damian to go investigate. The death is comical as Damian's head goes flying like 2 seconds later. Chris never had his weapon drawn and just watched him get raped.
