Both of these Neo Geo titles are really fun. For Tetris, I really like DS and TGM.

That's a tough call, Tetris descendants have always struggled to achieve greatness due to the inherent limitations of the Tetris formula. Maybe Puyo Puyo Tsu? Tetris Blast?

There's loads of puzzle games developed in the '90s however that stepped outside the Tetris mold and managed to greatly surpass it.

Jelly no Puzzle

It's a tiny freeware puzzle game I'm playing right now. Has many "eureka!" moments. Some levels hint really hard towards a certain path, but the solution is something completely different. One level in particular is very cheeky. Would recommend.

I'm hopeful for the REZ teams upcoming tetris game. something has to usurp tetris blast eventually.

I can across Frozen Bubble while I was browsing F-Droid (think Google Play Store without the Google part), it's a free as in "Gratis" and "Libre" Puzzle Bobble clone, except instead of a gay dragons you get chill penguins. It's pretty well-done, there is a puzzle mode where you have to clear stages, and there is an arcade mode where the screen keeps scrolling down and you shoot bubbles until you die.

Shit, posted too soon. I do not believe glibc can produce a 25kb tetris binary.

If you just google "tgm3 pc", you can find dumps of the arcade board packed in with an emulator for it, but how it runs on any given system is hit or miss.

A better bet would be to download nullpomino. It's an extremely robust Tetris clone that has configurable rules to mimic just about any version of Tetris that's ever been released. It comes with tons of pre configured rule sets. Grademania3 and speedmania2 mode with the classic3 ruleset will be the same as master or shirase mode in TMG3.

>Best official Tetris games:

<TGM series (single player. VS is quite good) Note: TGM Ace is not as good

<Tetris Online Japan (VS only; official guideline games are shit for single player)

TTC took TOJ down, so it lives on as Tetris Online Poland.

>notable non-guideline mentions:

<Magical Tetris Challenge (PS1, N64) (unconvetional garbage system)

<Tetris Battle Gaiden (SNES) (wacky overpowered special attacks)

>Best clones:

<Nullpomino (includes SRS, TGM rotation system, and more, lets you set custom rules and host a server)

<jstris (follows guideline; fast as TOJ, runs conveniently in browser, no hiccups or flash required unlike Tetris Friends). You can host your own instance too

You can also check out Cultris II (non-guideline; revolves around continual line clears, not T-spins and ren) and Quadra (cascade Tetris clone).

Only points of contention in Tetris are contiuous offset (fucking center 4-wide) and garbage hole choice (change on attack/random/TGM system/whatever).

Also fuck TTC kikes abusing copyright (Tetris's rules are not covered by copyright) and Trademark law (gameplay elements like piece shapes and field dimensions are not covered by trademarks) to bully Tetris clone makers, and for casualizing official Tetris with slow DAS and ARR, and adding ARE (Puyo Puyo Tetris has appearance delay)

It's OpenBSD, and that game is dynamically linked to libc and ncurses. The memory footprint is much bigger. So much bloat compared to a Gameboy, and this doesn't even play sound! But hey, it's always installed as part of the OS, so that's why I play it.

000000 No.15014966

>>15014754

>The memory footprint is much bigger

Well, it's ncurses. Still, a 25kb binary is impressive in $CURRENTYEAR. My nephew was learning C++ and his helloworld was over 4 megs.

>always installed as part of the OS

Oh, it's part of the OBSD base? Kek, then it's probably the cleanest code tetris clone on the planet.

>tfw your favorite game's code will never be audited by Theo de Raadt

Was there ever a tetris clone that had you work a cylinder instead of a flat grid? I know that pokemon puzzle league had that "3d" mode, but I've never seen it since.

000000 No.15020070

Bump. I just finished Jelly no Puzzle.

>tfw at the end the dev congratulates you and says that not many people are able to beat the game

Feels good.
