>Best official Tetris games:
<TGM series (single player. VS is quite good) Note: TGM Ace is not as good
<Tetris Online Japan (VS only; official guideline games are shit for single player)
TTC took TOJ down, so it lives on as Tetris Online Poland.
>notable non-guideline mentions:
<Magical Tetris Challenge (PS1, N64) (unconvetional garbage system)
<Tetris Battle Gaiden (SNES) (wacky overpowered special attacks)
>Best clones:
<Nullpomino (includes SRS, TGM rotation system, and more, lets you set custom rules and host a server)
<jstris (follows guideline; fast as TOJ, runs conveniently in browser, no hiccups or flash required unlike Tetris Friends). You can host your own instance too
You can also check out Cultris II (non-guideline; revolves around continual line clears, not T-spins and ren) and Quadra (cascade Tetris clone).
Only points of contention in Tetris are contiuous offset (fucking center 4-wide) and garbage hole choice (change on attack/random/TGM system/whatever).
Also fuck TTC kikes abusing copyright (Tetris's rules are not covered by copyright) and Trademark law (gameplay elements like piece shapes and field dimensions are not covered by trademarks) to bully Tetris clone makers, and for casualizing official Tetris with slow DAS and ARR, and adding ARE (Puyo Puyo Tetris has appearance delay)
