As soon as they show the Dante gameplay, everyone who is hesitant is going to be on board.
They showed mostly Nero first because like or not Nero is necessary to bring in the hip young people, they can do more with Nero Narrative because he's younger, Dante is awesome, but he's kind of a set character, his main goal in life was to avenge his Mother's death and he did that in the very first game.
Things are only going to get interesting for Dante when he sees Vergil again, but they want to keep Vergil place in the story on the down low for now.

I'll say it is also because her design screams "diversity character of current year +3". Non-white skin, strange hairstyle, ugly tattoos, the weird smile, glasses and a smoker. Add to that she is a "genius girl" and her 3 scenes in the trailer she came off as very obnoxious. She has a trashy design but it may be more about modern trends of what is "cool", at least the dev's perception of such. I think her design is shit, but the fact that she actually seems to be decently fit, dressed sexy and seems to do no real fighting makes me think that she isn't really a "stronk woman of color", just strangely designed. Also her roles seems to be more of Nero's mechanics, so she probably will be just a vendor or handle the arm's upgrades and not be that much present in the story itself. Think Rodin from Bayonetta.
Also I want to point out that it is interesting how Nero's journey in DMC 4 is the opposite of Vergil's in DMC3, and in a way mirrors Dante's own in the latter. While Vergil downfall was being unable to accept his humanity due to the loss of her mother, Nero's is unable to accept his demon heritage, but is forced to do so to save Kyrie. Only then he start fulfilling his full potential. While I think it is strange to take Nero's arm after finally having come to terms with it, it is also pretty funny how now he desires to take it back, or at least to avenge its lost (although it probably has more to do Yamato being inside it). If the robed man is really Vergil, it would be very interesting how they will interact with each other. Vergil may aswell be what Nero would become if he failed to protect Kyrie, and I won't be surprised if the game explore this situation in a way. Also I wonder how Nero's Devil trigger will look in this game now that he has lost his arm. Also I'm pretty sure the robotic arm will "channel" Nero's demon power, I would find it hard to accept that the robotic arm itself has no demonic powers.
Nero design is actually nice, probably the best face of the RE7 engine. His clothes are ok, the coat is nice but the sweater he is wearing is kinda lame. Dante's clothes so far are good, his face is weird but I can live with it as long as it is his voice actor face, but it hurts to lose the classic good looking Dante. So far, after the awful initial impression and starting to warm up to the game again, but I cannot denied the fuck up the game aesthetics big time. But if the gameplay is like 4 but better and the campaign is as good or better than 3 then it would be a great game. Not the 10/10, definitive Devil May Cry, too late for that, Capcom already fucked up, but still a worthy sequel.

Nero can't turn off his Demon arm, it's always like that, that's was his whole arc in DMC4, Discovering and accepting his demonic side and not hiding it from the world anymore. DMC's characters Demon half have never been shown as negatives in the series. Each game shows that to reach ones full potential, embracing both your demons and your Humanity is necessary.
Vergil's biggest character flaw is that he locks away his humanity, in favor of his Demon half, He only seeks power and becoming stronger because he fears weakness due to him not being able to save his mother.
Vergil took Nero's Arm because he wanted his sword back, Vergil is likely unaware Nero even is his son, or he's still being effected by his Corrupted state.
