Once upon a time, some soyboy posted some (((collector's))) stash online, and the rare game mafia made him cry and take it down. But one brave Anon, fighting against impossible odds, infiltrated the fortress and made off with the treasure. Here are the relevant links:
https://mega.nz/#F!t1dkSKwD!seEdpDWtMCEkC71yPJ89Pg (the soyboy's posted games)
https://mega.nz/#F!y3xREIQJ!yt3XqFtRnOoRp5pFRu6j4A (the whole goddamn stash)
I'm currently getting all of them in order from smallest to largest, but they could be taken down at any time. If anyone can get them in reverse order to improve the odds of a complete set we can make into a single torrent or something I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate it.

I am talking about the art style. There ware probably fully animated VNs on the playstation itself. And no, the art of the sprite works are not PSX exclusive but have been a thing in JRPGs from the getgo. Here is a more comparable example that has also better art. It is only not animated. Just at the moment machines that were more capable than the fucking PC98 became more popular, most devs have simply slapped anime videos onto the CD. The custom of using static sprites in most VNs is a child of the PC98's limited graphic capabilities. You're welcome.

Zeitgeist is the PC version of yet another Playstation game. I gave Tetsujin returns a swirl, because it looked like a mindless shooter. It doesn't work either. Its apparently the PC version of a 3DO game called ron Angel of the Apocalypse: The Return. The reason it was so big is the DVD rip of CG anime that and some thing called atmos that came with it. Next one I have attempted is Gekirin. This one actually works. Its a rogue like and despite being that, its also playable without any Japanese knowledge. You are some dude who has to ascend some dungeon. The entire game works just like Gauntlet, but your projectiles, armor and shields are limited. You can restock with the loot you find on your way down. Later when you have packed up enough, you can return and sell it all.

Maybe for modern games because the Japanese people tend to be much more loving of the coorperations, but here it's an effort to preserve history that would otherwise be lost to the general population, AND it's not hurting corperations or content creators of any kind because nobody is legitimately selling this stuff anyway. I just don't understand the mindset.

Yeah, i am obsessed with trying to find out ANYTHING related to unreleased games or protos, and could probably tell you a few horror stories related to it, like how a redditor got their grubby hands on some turbo grafx 16 prototypes including an unreleased game, and then disappeared into the ether, or a genesis game on a hopelessly corrupted floppy disk beyond all repair, or just a ton of random videos of prototypes that show up by scalpers looking to sell the game on the ebay(video related), or times when the soyboys are just fucking with you, like sim city on the NES.

Okay it seems like people just seem to have forgotten one little thing.
There exist more then one collector … so what for an effect do you think this leak and press coverage about it especially Saint's wonderful comment which could also be interpreted as 'you collectors are so dumb and we are such smart assholes, we don't need you', will have on the collector community?
It is not like we had already similiar cases right?
not like long long ago we had some coughJapaneseDoujinGamesuploaderscough
who uploaded nearly everything before someone thought it was smart to anger them and now we can be happy to get just some few of them.
Or the time when we still had free access to galgame or what the site was named before and at that time also someone did something stupid and rest is history…
So yeah am I really the only one who is seriously afraid that this leak might have actually a bad effect on our relation to many other uploaders?
By the way I am neither on the uploader's nor on Saint's side, all I am worried about is that it will be even more difficult to find rare stuff.

I think a more important question is, would you have been interested in these games if they were publicly available in the first place?
For example in this very thread you guys are dismissing a large chunk of games as worthless just because they're for Mac. Ironically I started out collecting for Mac only since that's where my nostalgia is. I only started grabbing Windows 95 stuff when I noticed the large crossover with hybrid games. If Labyrinthe wasn't a hybrid game I might not have bothered with it in the first place.

Those will run 90% of what you throw at it
It's way more reliable than Windows 9x and multiplats are usually better on it
It's modular, you can switch out the CD-ROM drive or replace it with a floppy drive
No USB but you can easily use compact flash cards with a cheap adapter

Anyway. If you want the rarest of the rare try MazeBrew. Never sold on yahoo, not found in surugaya catalog. Only heard of it because I was going through some old Mac demo CDs which, in Japan, are already rare as hen's teeth. Then I found this boutique Mac shop selling a copy but had to jump through hoops to get it sent to me. Don't think I'll ever top that find though some of the other Mac games I have are pretty close. Held my breath while dumping the floppies for The Tower Of Silka and Through The Window. I've had rare floppies fail on me before but those were special. Or the Japanese exclusive Mahjong game for CD-i. This is my copy and the only picture of the game you'll find on the internet. First of all I was reading some developer's blog and Japanese CD-i games had print runs in the low hundreds apparently. So for all intents and purposes, it is impossible to buy Japanese CD-i titles anywhere. But I happened to buy some CD-i arcade based titles off this Japanese hoarder, and then happened to find a different hoarder in the UK who was interested in trading one of those in exchange for a 100 dollar discount. He was like "yeah I have this and this cool thing, oh but they aren't for sale. But I have two copies of fucking Mahjong, you can have one of those." I think most people would have said no because they wouldn't have recognized the value. Just to give things some perspective here.

Is accessible without knowledge of the language? If yes, then of course we would want to cram into our backlogs. If they are educational, they are more up the alley of people like LGR, i.e. collectors who grew up with the educational game case. The next question is at hand is hand is the technical headache that comes with ripping them. Reminder that cracker scene didn't emerge as a elaborated shitpost. Some freaks have bought video game just to be the first team to swap them around with their ebin cracktro. As I said, people probably suggest cloneCD and its updated successor Clony, because they are period accurate. This is what I guess at the moment. Maybe there is some urban legend or forgotten knowledge about some nowadays illegal feature behind that. Other period accurate tools that can do it are Alcohol120%.
For information on piracy in that period go no further than:

Ebin. Nobody is angry at you, because they wanted to play a literal meme game since they have read about it in Nintendo power over 30 years ago. They are angry at you for hoarding shit and keep that away from the rest of the world out of greed.
>you go on having your melty though
Nobody in this thread is sperging out either. Since you have struggled with pirating a dreamcast game although that information is common knowledge among Sega fans since at least 15 years, I assume you are not that intelligent. See how little sense that makes? Now you are sad, because I called you a moron, your Parents are sad, because at least one of their children is a narcissist who makes other people's lives miserable and Cthullhu is sad too, because you are so crazy that you can see him naked and still remember that he has a small benis.

Zyclunt is actually a decent game which demo is still floating around on Otakuworld. Its far from inaccessible, because there is a copy of it on the web archive. I am going on a CD safari myself to look what I could share in a few months when I am done curating. Criteria are. AH! Megamisama is a game to the Manga of the same name.
>no release on GoG
If GoG offers it, why worry? They are far superior to some dude ripping his old games with Alcohol 120%
>Accessible without any knowledge of German unless there is no copy anywhere.
This one is pretty hard to keep up, because I already have a CD that has all worthwhile DOS games by Starbyte and the German originalversion of Shadow over Riva. Thank God that effort isn't justified for most Magazine CDs I have managed to preserve, because the Game being in German was a huge selling point at the time. You can also assured that nobody will give a shit about the Kraut games, because the original studios are dead and anything that ends up as a free extra of German Computer magazine has reached the status of nuclear waste. A good example of that is the Computerbild Version of Torchlight that was given out when Torchlight 2 just came out. At the moment I am going through all the extra stuff I have from the timeperiod a crapton of software was uploaded onto the Internet for free.

a5a56c No.15004236
Yeah Zyclunt is out already and so is XTOM but those are the original Korean versions, mine are the Japanese releases. So you could say "well it's not important if the games are already available" but if you don't want to catalog alternate language versions your claims to caring about preservation kind of go out the window. So the fact that no one bothered to leak my considerable folder of localized games, despite containing rare Japanese versions of The Dig, The Neverhood, Deus Ex, Burn:Cycle, etc, is pretty telling to me.

But that's wrong. We won't even need translations for games in 50 or so years, when the preservation matters. Not to mention that scanning the manuals and shit is a waste of time, you might as well be collecting rare books instead.

What the hell does that even mean. Preservation matters since day one or at least since the platforms that run said products become obsolete so nothing of 50 years. More like 10. There's also localization. You don't know if there's any difference between different versions. And of course the idiomatic barrier, or do you think in the future there's going to be patches for every game made in the world for every idiom?
