to sim race:

>Buy a racing wheel

>Buy an oculus rift

>Download Project CARS, Assetto Corsa, Euro Truck simulator with the VR update

>Play

To actually race:

>Get a driver's license

>Buy a car

>Search for your local race track

>Check the scheduling for race dates

>Register for an event

>remember to check the rules of the track day and bring your car up to standard

>Buy a race helmet or rent from the track

>Buy brake pads (you're going to need them)

>Buy Tyres (you're going to need them)

>Buy Gasoline/Diesel

>Turn up at race track

>enter driver's briefing

>enter tech inspection

>After passing inspection enter Pits/Parking lot behind pits

>Wait for your group to be called

>Race

(Notice: track days are not for racing, they are for driving fast)

To race professionally you're going to need a Racing license and they go by categories like in Gran Tourismo, most race tracks supply this kind of opportunity via 3rd party driving schools.

An easier route is to buy a RWD drift car and Join the

sanctioned drift competitions but reliability is an issue in that sport and can cost a lot of money if you don't have sponsorship.

Sponsorship(in the US) is actually very easy to gain for the drift scene because it's a lifestyle spectator sport (as opposed to circuit racing which is more of an engineer's sport) so there are plenty of companies that will be willing to help you in exchange for driving with their livery on your car.

Go to car meets, track days, get involved with auto cross. Build up a circle of car-friends.

Get the license, build track experience and try and get work as a mechanic or an aide for a team, as long as you're in the industry you'll be favoured over other candidates when you do formal applications.

To make an informal entry into racing you're definitely going to need to compete as an amateur and that can be easier when you have friends and can share a car and costs between you. Like I said, drifting is your best bet because it attracts more sponsors like Rockstar Energy and DC shoes, it's a bit like the new NASCAR right now.

asside from the UK, Germany and most of central Europe (except france) actually has a lot of good amateur level motorsports going on thanks to the Nurburgring and other world level tracks like that.

I think Italy also has a lot going on too.

Germany has an established drifting championship but most of the american sponsors usually only concentrate on the UK BDC and to a lesser extent the IDC. Just go where Monster energy, Hoonigan and Falken Tyres are because if a league is big enough to have them they usually have a good selection of low-tier sponsors trying to get into the sport.

Now that you mention that, I see this car a lot of times near where I live. It has a Hoonigan sticker on it. I talso had many other stickers that gave it a rice-ish feeling. One of them was a stickman pulling the gas clock needle from the E to the F on the deposit lid, another one was a blue and pink teddybear, and for some reason, the plastic over his frontlights was painted black. It also had a spoiler and a Monster sticker. Do you think the owner is sponsored?

Bugbear made FlatOut 1,2 and UC, and only those. They got kiked of the license by their publisher around 2011: that's when FlatOut 3 was released, made by Team6. The game was so atrocious that the guys at Bugbear decided to make their proper sequel to FlatOut UC, called Next Car Game at first. But with no publisher they went through kickstarter/development hell/early access for 4 years and now they finaly have a publisher. They finally gave the game a real name and now they're about to finally go out of early access.

FlatOut 3 and 4 are made by other studios and are absolutely not on par with the original titles, which are about racing and destroying everything to win. Anyway I hope Wreckfest does well so we can have more crash driven racing games in the future, even if I highly doubt it will happen.

>Unless omega collection sold really well and regained interest in the series

It topped the UK "most sold" charts for a whole week when it came out, and the VR update earlier this year brought it back to the surface above all other VR games. I guess it got people's attention.

XDev made Omega, and they got most of Liverpool's devs.

Seems fun but I'm not sure if I want to go through all that setup right now. I won't have my wheel for awhile but once I get it back I might give it a shot.

>>14920349

Yeah I don't see any ports of it sadly. Seems fun though.

Fair enough. You seem knowledable in the game. Tell me, are the opponent's times sensible? Sometimes I drive alright but they get WAY faster times. Other times I drive far worse and get first place.

>>14918516

I see. Is it similar to Burnout 3? If not, how does it differ?

>>14918438

I went and got it for myself. I'm actually really enjoying it so far. The campaign mode is pretty fleshed out and I appreciate all the options they give for customization. I'm not the most knowledgeable racing guy and mostly play arcade racing games. I've never played GT or Forza but compared to Grid, this is a lot more varied and looks miles better. The AI also DOESN'T KEEP RAMMING ME, which is appreciated.

Anon, tell me more. Did you mean redout?

There's a joke in there somewhere.

Max Heat is actually the only pure racing game I can stand to play with my friend at arcades outside of Daytona USA (which was removed from the one near me, which is FUCKING BULLSHIT).

Also this thread is annoying to find because OP called it /ocg/ and not /ogc/.

Doug has to be the fucking worst car reviewer ever. He reviewed some imported, east-european shitbox from the 90s and complained about the lack of replacement parts in the US

He puts himself in the shoes of potential buyers. Wither or not a car has good aftermarket support is a big selling point and a potential deal breaker if you're on the used market.

Different Mumble, different Disc, different community. The original thread on 4chan was called /ovg/ and was on the /o/ board but turned into a circlejerk and resulted in the creation of /ogc/ during the exodus. Back then using VOIP or a Disc wasn't as taboo across 8chan as it is now, so there was very limited use of mostly the Disc for the early races. There was a limited revival of events during Spring of 2017 but nothing since.

There is no VOIP, Disc or even an active Steam group anymore since they're all dead. The only one that might come back in the future would be the Steam group if we ever do anything again.

Funny coincidence though. That game I saw, Quantum Redshift, was also an AG Racing game.

We ought to host race-nights.
