Finally starting to get veteran items and cosmetics. I'm really happy I got a cool helmet for BH.
The quest system is also pretty fun, they added challenges to every level on legend difficulty, and they all sound retardedly hard. There's speedrunning ones like killing Rasknitt in 20 seconds, or shit like dropping the cannonball on 25 rats on Fort Brachsenbrücke. Haven't found a group yet that tried any of these.

After a long time not playing it, I have done multiple games in Legend, and they finally have made the loot boxes better, because I finally got a bunch of cosmetics and red items, compared to before. And the Orrik challenges are a good way to make you play more, and to obtain extra rewards. Not bad this patch, I must say.

What you're saying is consistent with playing on Champ and with below 200h of experience. Once you understand the game more you'll change those shit opinions.
If I simplify it, I went through these phases:
ironbreaker cause I don't want to die and learn the game -> Bountyhunter cause I want to kill/stun bosses and decimate hordes and never run out of ammo -> Pyromancer to trivialize hordes, crit all the time and cast flaming skull 15 times each horde -> Waystalker to never let specials get near my team -> Footknight to protect my team , permastun bosses and finally learn some proper melle -> Huntsman to destroy bosses, elites, specials and keep most of the melle power of FK -> Slayer\Shade\Handmaiden to get to the next level of melle and the next level of fun. These also take into account how the game changed through the patches.
Along with that last phase I'm currently hating the shit out of the ranged abusing parties that fall to pieces once the horde/patrol/boss/anything gets into melle range because they didn't learn proper melle/dodging/positioning wizards of any kind are insta-kick when I'm host and they refuse to change same with flamethrower fags
Game is surprisingly deep if you're autistic enough about it. Having non casual friends to play it with helps, but if you get good enough you'll find them I did, so can you.

I think the damage increase, especially if it's 20% as >>14908446 says, could make him good against bosses since they're taggable, but Bounty Hunter and Zealot are better-equipped for actually taking down a boss since they can interrupt it on a shorter cooldown.

Rapier/flail with pistols/xbow, whichever you prefer. You'll use your ranged weapon to take out specials so I wouldn't take repeater unless your aim is atrocious.
WHC doesn't really have a role going for him other than purging heretics left and right but remember your infinite block against nonelites. In a pinch you can step forth and act like a tank. Just remember to push, dodge back and poke elites when they get close. Also, you can tag only one target at a time, afaik, so make it count.

problem with the rapier is that it basically has zero stagger, the cleave is pretty weak, and the push is trash. the rapier stab can deal loads of damage on headshots, but it needs to charge up more than most melee charges and the stab point changes every stab and isnt centered on the reticle dot. so you end up needing a lot of room to be constantly moving/dodging and if you get outnumbered vs elites you end up blocking more than attacking then getting wrecked. even with the headshot damage bonus perk it still seems the best choice is the flail, if they fixed the cleave on the falchion it would be viable again. standard crossbow is the best bet for ranged on captain.
since they fixed the extended dodge range, id choose charmed life for lvl5. for lvl10 deathknell is the best choice. ive tried all 3 lvl 15 perks on the captain, but they all seem pretty underwhelming, but the 2hp bonus is the worst so pick either marked for death or fervour depending on the loadout. lvl20 take zeal and lvl 25 im not decided on, but i usually take purpose for the cooldown bonus despite it still being slow to recharge.

Try rolling crit chance and attack speed if you do go rapier, I swear it's the only way to make the rapier viable.
You'll have 15% crit chance with maxed out equipment with another 8% when taggable enemies die and another 25% when you use the career skill, leading to a potential max of 48% crit chance.
Even without the taggable enemies on death talent for the 8% crit chance 40% crit chance is pretty damn good. I use Zealot with only 20% crit chance and I get really nice results on legend using the temp health on crit talent with the 30% bonus to healing from my necklace.
People will try to sell you on some myth of one shotting stormvermin with charged attacks but it's garbage and a waste of time.

Sure. 90% of what you do in Vermintide (attacking, movement, blocking, dodging etc) feel different from L4D, which is structurally really similar. Even more different from KF, which always felt very rigid in terms of movement.
My point was just that it feels the same to play as the first game (it's a sequel after all) with more content. Maybe it came across as negative when I said it's mostly the same, but it's what I expected out of it when I got it.

Anon, the rapier is pretty much WHC's only option. You can 1 shot SV if they are tagged, AND you charge your rapier all the way up before you strike… It's faster to just do two stabs most of the time. If you roll +10 vs armour and +20 vs skaven you can do it without tagging them. You also MUST take the headshot bonus, but this will be helpful for your ranged weapons too. Don't forget the value of the side pistol to stagger literally anything short of a chaos warrior - you can place it in the middle of your light attack combo to get it off quickly and resume attacking quickly, it's fairly slow if you aren't doing this.
Remember that for WHC it's ok not to be top damage because everyone will be getting the tag bonus. You should stay on special duty if you can.

So far mods have only been quality of life improvements like hud elements (numbers on health bars and ammo) and a better system for grim discarding that is not so prone on accidentally discarding.
So far the biggest issue that shoots modding in the foot is the devs themselves implementing an anti cheat system that bans people unintentionally for using mods despite it being in a separate realm. So now not many people want to risk even bothering with mods.

i wish there was a mod to show the damage done to enemies because i dont understand how damage works, the hp numbers that enemies have compared to the damage the dummys in the keep show dont add up. the anticheat is just a retarded idea especially since i dont remember seeing anything about a versus mode.

Btw have any of you guys found a way to filter in matchmaking yet? This is the kind of game that would benefit a lot from some sort of banlist.
I'm so tired of rolling the dice every game of getting shitters who instantly wipe the moment I get disabled because they are too busy shooting at patrols. Atleast with something like that I would have the option of not ending up with the same people in next search who don't know how to block cancel and dodge despite already being max level on legend.
