I don't know the sales numbers of the Rune Factory games but maybe the genre has simply lost popularity and isn't all that profitable anymore. I was surprised to see a RF4 at all.
I remember trying the 3DS Harvest Moon and it was just so fucking slow. I can't even go back to RF games before 3 because of how slow they feel.

I like to see a Rune Factory like game that uses Magitek where the game takes place in an Industrial Revolution type er. And you have to balance your life style with using modern tek for convenience while preserving nature around you. Nature vs Technology and the best ending is symbiosis.

ConcernedApe might truly be a dedicated developer delivering new content for free years after having released the the game but you can't deny Stardew Valley is shit when compared to other games release almost 10 years ago.
Stardew Valley being such a success in term of sales proves to me that the PC normalfag audience(the ones who never heard of the genre until Stardew Valley popped up on steam) would really eat up more of these games if they were made aware of it.
It's not like it's expensive to make a game for this genre.

Maybe allowing you to construct your farm buildings and house like you would do in Rust, have the game's story be more immersiveeven through the use of basic AI, which is too much of a dream, etc.

As far as technology goes it'd go as far as Final Fantasy VI really. Everyone for the most part still fights with swords. Though I suppose casting spells asthetically could be done solely through firearms like Outlaw Star's caster gun.
Caster bullets cast magic spells when you shoot them but higher level spells consume your vital essence. In RF logic it would be RP then HP. Plus you have a limited supply of bullets and casting is tied to your gun skill.
Magitek is an excuse for having anachronistic technologies that didn't exist in the 1800's while still making swords and sorcery the most optimal way for adventurers to fight.
We have airships, but we still fight wars with armored ground infantry, priests, and wizards for example. Just wizards use guns instead of wands and books to cast spells.

The company that made rune factory went bankrupt and we haven't heard from them basically since they got bought by marvelous I think. The sales of rune factory were always pretty good and I think 4 was one of the best selling ones so there doesn't seem to be any reason no one has made one recently.

Rune Factory 4 was the highest selling in the series, so much so that RF5 was greenlit soon after release. It must have been a case of mismanaged books because Neverland went bankrupt not long after that too.
I beg anyone that hasn't already that also might enjoy bowling to _buy_ Forbidden Magna or whatever the fuck it's called in its english release. It was made by the devs hired by Marvelous from the RF team. I don't know that it'll have an effect but I'm desperate for a new entry. RIP.

Probably a return to some touch controls like in RF1-3 like taping your plot with a tool equipped to automate some things or just harvesting. RF4 switched the map and "main" screen so it had to do away with that. And maybe bring up the map with a button or something.

The Switch will have extra shoulder buttons and clickies. I'm sure they can think of something. I want a deticated shield/parry button for combat that you can hold then press jump while guarding to dodge roll out of the way if the attack overpowers your parry. Something that adds more variety to enemy behavior where you have to think more than run around, arc-slash, charge attack. Weakspot exploitation. Throwing hard resources like stones or ores like Zelda for more damage vs saving them for resources. Etc.

I actually loved the return to RNG events to the same vein of Bokujo Monogatari but I agree, marriage events should have been something you could start yourself instead of waiting for the planets to align. If you get married before the end of the first arc your spouse will have an extra scene before you head to Leon Karnak.
