So what games have you beaten recently? Were they fun?

I was sitting on it for a while so I decided to finally finish L.A. Noire. The best way to describe it "a fun game ruined by casualization", after playing it for a while you can see exactly how a company that made such fun games shat out abortions life Max Payne 3 and GTA V.

The story is great, it's amazing to think that it's a rockstart game. You start with the introductory arc that serves as a tutorial as a way to ease the player into the story, showing Cole's rise in the LAPD, instead of just throwing you in as a professional dog. Then comes the second arc where it initially seems like a bunch of separate cases, but slowly the player notices there might be a connection and so does the PC, the end of the arc serves as an introduction to the last arc that really makes the game shine. It's a nice mix of fun and realistic.

The gameplay is also really good. The game rarely has parts where you're unable to continue because of fuck ups, and instead allows you to work around it. Then there's the driving that's like GTA IV's, really fucking annoying at first, but eventually you warm up to it and have fun drifting around 50's cars.

You can't have a good post 2007 game though, so in comes the casualization.

The clues are one of the shittiest parts of the game, sometimes you need to click a specific part despite your character reading it or turning the object in a weird angle before the game marks the clue as seen, not to mention you can't look at everything, so by turning casual mode off you need to play a double guessing game of "is that a background object or a clue?" and "did the game already register that clue or do I need to click it again?", the default mode has audio chimes which plays when you're around new clues. Seems they made a room, the gay testers couldn't do shit, so they added that as a crutch and made the game based around the player having that always on.

It also has the cancerous scripted chases of GTA IV, where a car will magically always stay a fixed distance ahead, regardless of speed, and turn corners at mach 5 if you're too close. Not to mention that even the traffic is scripted and you'll always have the exact same cars in the exact same position at the exact same speed. There's also the cherry on top of the shit cake that is social club and games for windows life, which's the reason why no one should ever buy this, no matter how much they like the game.

Overall it was a pretty good game, but I really wish it was SA time Rockstar working on the gameplay instead. The crutches should be there to help casuals, if even at all, not to limit players, help bad devs and ruin the game.
